Claw/Storm looked at the she-cat gently. "I understand you're scared. But have you ever heard of what twolegs do to you? They abandon you. Hurt you. Send you to the Cutter so you can't have kits. Kick you when you get too close to them at a time they don't want you nearby. Throw you out of monsters. Lock you behind silverthorn. Do you really want that?"

"You aren't old enough, or have seen enough, for that to happen. Did you see the old cats, how fat and lazy they were? That could become you, if you go back to your twolegs. It changes you, dear, and you have too much to offer to the world to just waste it with them, who don't understand or really care. Wouldn't you rather be wild? Two legs won't let you do that. They'll try to keep you inside their dens, and keep you prisoner. I can look in your eyes, and see that. They might not have hurt you yet, but they will one day, if you give them the chance by returning to them."

Are you trying to say that you'd rather sacrifice freedom and control for slavery and helplessness? I saw a cat once, younger than you. A kit, who had been crushed to death by a twoleg. I saw it happen. The twolegs pulled out a stick, pushed around the poor kit's body, and made these horrible noises. That could be you, that could be any cat who's foolish enough to think that they won't get hurt by a twoleg. I'm sorry, but you're asking to get hurt after what you just said."
