It's Not Over Yet[Bouncepaw&Daffodilpaw Assessment!]

Bluestrike headed over to the apprentice's den, a wide grin spread across his face. It was time. The day most apprentices couldn't wait to arrive. It was the day that settled whether or not they would become warriors. Bouncepaw! Daffodilpaw! Get ready! He meowed, his eyes bright and excited. He waited for them to scurry out. Bouncepaw was his first ever apprentice, and he knew that he would succeed.

Daffodilpaw's eyes shot open. Not that she had been able to sleep. "Bouncepaw! Get up, get up, get up!" She shouted, placing her forepaws on her brother's back and shaking him to wake him. She wasn't really paying mind to her denmates, and felt a brief moment of guilt but her paws were already carrying her out of the den. She skidded to a halt in front of Bluestrike, eyes wide with excitement that she could barely contain.

Bouncepaw had been sleeping when he was suddenly shook awake. He could hear Bluestrike's voice.

"Ready?" Bouncepaw mumbles blearily, sitting up with a small yawn. "Ready for what?" He pads after Daffodilpaw, and tilts his head as he sees the two mentors outside. What were they doing?

Bluestrike trotted away, beckoning the two apprentices with a tail flick. Come'on you two! And take something to eat! He purred, his eyes bright.

Something to eat? Bouncepaw eyes the prey pile, but he's not very hungry in the morning. Besides, he felt anxious after hearing the 'get ready'. Now that his head was getting clearer and less sleepy, Bouncepaw could guess it was related to his assessment. They'd talked about it recently, and it was the only thing that came to mind. Boy did that thought suck away his appetite, though.

"I'll be fine." Bouncepaw meows nervously, "I can eat later. Are we... is this our final assessment?"

Bluestrike nodded. It is. And it looks like Snowybreeze isn't coming, so he might join us later. He meowed, leading the two apprentices out of camp. He looked over his shoulder at Daffodilpaw, running through his mind on what he was going to have them do. Daffodilpaw. Did your mentor teach you everything? What's your strongest skill? As Bluestrike wanted the apprentice to succeed, he would need to know all of this.

Daffodilpaw was already fetching her and Bouncepaw a piece of prey to share before he could finish protesting. She only got a few bites in before Bluestrike confirmed this was their final assessment. She swallowed her mouthful so she wouldn't choke before taking a quick dash of a lap around Bouncepaw. "Our final assessment, Bouncepaw!! Can you believe it??" After her little spin around her poor brother, the pale yellow apprentice sat with her tail wrapped around her paws, eyes fixed on Bluestrike.

"I did most of my training with Elkjump! Owlscreech showed me some fighting moves. But I'm best at hunting!" She problaimed proudly, sitting with her chest fluffed up. "I have a sharp nose and I'm really fast!" She looked at her brother with eager, sparkling eyes.

Right. Bluestrike looked at his own apprentice, who hadn't done that well at hunting. He wanted both apprentices to succeed, but... He squeezed his eyes shut, his tail thumping up and down. No. He knew Bouncepaw could do it. He had trained well. We'll be doing hunting. He announced, brushing his tail over Bouncepaw's ear to reassure him just in case. Follow me. Bluestrike led Daffodilpaw and her brother into an open clearing, pausing to sniff the air. This is where we'll split up. You may work together. He tilted his head. It would be the only way to supervise both of them at the same time. Since it was still very early, he shifted on his paws. Time for decision making! Be back by sunhigh.He purred with amusement, his eyes twinkling with excitement. Remember...I'll be watching you. Bluestrike slunk off into the trees before they could ask any more questions. He chuckled to himself, peering past the bush he was hiding in. He rolled in a patch of marigold to hide his scent. It was time.
