Brindlepaw hated everything about this. EVERYTHING. But here he was, with a weird little shell in his maw, standing outside the medicine den. He had been trying to figure out how to visit Elkpaw for a few days, and the little sightseeing trip to Riverclan's territory (it was so WET) had provided him with a trinket to bring along. He had returned with several shells, but this was the one he had chosen to.......what? Try and get back in Elkpaw's good graces? Even though the thought of his brother still annoyed him, irrational as it was? He hadn't DONE anything to Elkpaw, so why did this feel like an apology?
Regardless of what the official term for his little visit was, Brindlepaw was there. Outside the medicine den, trying to get up the courage to enter. Because he would probably have to be friendly, or at least decently polite. They were family, he had to be. As irritating as many, many aspects of Elkpaw were (his ability to make friends, get a good mentor, and become an apprentice earlier to name a few), they were brothers. Tansyjaw would be so disappointed if she was around, and Brindlepaw didn't put it past her to haunt him in a dream for not being a good family member.
Also, as annoying as Elkpaw was, and as little as he had talked to him recently, he didn't want to see him hurt. He was his brother, he'd certainly prefer him alive and WELL, if only to make surpassing him all the sweeter. If that ever happened, which wasn't looking too likely currently. But they had the same mentor now, so perhaps it was possible. Shaking his head as if to remove the nasty thoughts swirling about in it, Brindlepaw took a deep breath and entered the den. Approaching his brother, his face dropping a bit as he saw the injury for himself, Brindlepaw spat out the shell a bit ungraciously.
This reminded me of you. Small and annoying. he huffed, in perhaps the least concerned greeting for an injured family member ever. @
