Here it was, the day had finally come. His pelt itched as he nervously shifted his weight from paw to paw. His assessment was today. No- no. He’d be fine. He knew how to fight. He just didn’t want to disappoint his clan…BristleThorn…MagpiePaw? Goodness why was her name in that list? No- he could absolutely not have any distracting thoughts right now. He had to go find the enforcer doing his assessment.

His gaze quickly fluttered around to find TuftedTusk, walking up to the larger warrior as his tail swayed . How would he do this? What if he failed? No SpiderPaw! Stop worrying. “Uh- TuftedTusk- I’m ready if you are.” he said, trying to make his voice sound stronger then he felt himself.

The large marbled tom smiled at Spiderpaw as the apprentice approached him. "Ah yes.. your assessment. From what I've been told, it will be a fighting assessment."

He flicked his tail for Spiderpaw to follow and headed out into the territory. He had never given an assessment to an apprentice before so this was good practice for him.

Finally stopping, he would turn to the tom behind him. "I'm going to assess you on your ability to sneak up on me, pin me, and evaluate your fighting prowess. Nothing too difficult, alright? Begin when you wish on the sneaking part."

He followed the larger warrior, trying to force confidence upon himself. He was fine, it was fine. He could do this, then he’d be able to have his warrior name. He listened to the tom as he spoke, giving the instructions that may hold his future and dignity.

“Okay- I’m ready…” he took a deep breath, leaping into the bushes. Remember stealth— FlyTail taught you well, use that! He crept, just about silently until the wind carried his scent away from TuftedTusk. There, hopefully the warrior wouldn’t know where he was. He was facing the larger cat’s side. Good enough to get a good knock down. He got into an attack crouch, getting ready to pounce onto the warrior.

Ready…

Set…

GO!

The apprentice leapt out of his hiding, aiming to ram into the enforcers middle side and knock him off balance.

Tuftedtusk let out an audible oof, as his legs got flung out from under him, tumbling over like a leaf in a stiff breeze. Winded, the tom starts to scramble to his paws.

"Well done! Now try to pin me, Spiderpaw!" He mewed, crouching to attempt to leap at the tom and bowl him over.

A sigh of relief came from the apprentice when he succeeded. Was he shocked though? He spent so long training, it’s the least he could do for himself. Now he had to pin the enforcer down? Sure, SpiderPaw was tall, but he was scrawny. This cat was larger and an enforcer for that matter, and he was an enforcer for a reason. But on the other paw, all apprentices had to do the final assessment and plenty of them (obviously) passed.

He crouched down and sprung at the tom from the front, aiming to slam him down by knocking his shoulders and going from there.

DEFENSE ROLL: 12

With a grunt as Spiderpaw barreled into him, he stood his ground, digging his paws in the dirt as he was shoved backward. When he was ready, he propelled himself forward, throwing the apprentice to the ground.

ATTACK ROLL: 18

The large enforcer then reared up, eyes glinting with challenge, and he raised a paw to swipe the toms muzzle, then would try to follow up with a swipe to his forepaws in an attempt to trip him up.

SPIDER ROLLED A 13 IN RECOVERY

He winced as he had felt a hard hit meet his muzzle. Any nose injury cause tearing up right? He hoped so, cause he didn’t want to be the only apprentice that felt like crying during an assessment, even if it didn’t hurt too badly. He did his best to blink them away quickly, but apparently he was distracted by it cause he felt his paws get removed from right from under him. “damnit!” he hissed to himself as he felt himself hit the ground roughly. Quick- get up SpiderPaw—before you fail that is!

The apprentice show up to his paws, getting ready to attack again. The tall apprentice went up to the warrior and went to slam his shoulder into TuftedTusks chest, hoping to knock the wind out of him to weaken him and knock him down.

He let out a huff as Spiderpaw slammed into him rather quickly and he fell onto his side. While he tried to regain his breath as it was knocked out of him, the apprentice could take this opprotunity.
