Goldfish had been silently keeping an eye on Redwater. River had seemed like a nice enough cat, just a little.. sad. Unhappy. As if the world hadn’t dealt her an easy hand, like it had with The Ace of Spades. To many problems, too little solutions, in life. The tortoiseshell now lay relaxed at one end of the twoleg den, eyeing the beautifully pretty-pelted feline. The color was still curiously stunning, a lovely shade of red-brown. But more so Goldfish’s dandelion hues were fixated on her facial expression. Perhaps she should.. talk to her. Try to strike a conversation, anything. Looking around for ideas, her eyes rested on a certain set of trees not too far off. A study set of oaks, thick with bark and leaves. An idea suddenly struck the Riverclan lionheart.

Perhaps.. a climbing lesson for her? Yes.. that’d be fun. A perfect experience for them both. Perhaps then next time Redwater would approach her instead of her approaching her. Then they could be friends- in theory. Standing up, Goldfish stretched each leg in turn with a brief yawn before padding up to the warrior, her scarred flanks smoothly groomed flat. ”Heya, River! If you don’t mind the name.” she mewed cheerfully, tail swishing against the soft grass. ”How would you feel about a little climbing training? It’d be fun.

Redwater was lying on her side looking miserable. The half-eaten remains of her prey lay before her—she’d been hungry, then she wasn’t. Now she didn’t know what she was. Sad? She eyed the trout. That used to be her favorite prey. Now she didn’t really have a favorite prey. She sat up. No use in moping. Red had finished her patrols already. Now she was bored. She looked up, and glanced vaguely around the camp—a voice interrupted her look-around. It was that Molly, Goldfish—Wait wait. I remembered her name? I never remember anyone’s name.— whatever. She shook it off.

I must have heard wrong. Climbing practice? Anxiety filled her heart. “W-w-well. Sure. Sure?” Had she just said yes?
