The large tom bounded through the woods, a fat squirrel hanging from his jaw. He didn't exactly know where they were going, but he was bored, and needed something to do. He ducked through a bush, his fluffy white coat snagging on a thorn in the bush. He saw a clearing with a nice rock where the sun was shining softly. Theo grinned and walked over to the rock. They stretched, dropping his squirrel and laying down.

It was one of those times Vennie had demanded he go hunting. Usually she kept him close at her side, bearing over him like he was a kit and she his mother, which he thought was a bit ironic since Vennie's mother had been so horrible. She was't horrible, though; she'd turned out just fine, no matter what his family said. He shrugged, deciding he'd rather focus on the quest Vennie had rather firmly sent him on: Retrieve a squirrel.

Squirrels weren't his favorite, he wasn't great at climbing trees and didn't fancy heights, but whatever Vennie wanted, Vennie got. Partly because if he didn't deliver, he'd have to endure her temper tantrum and then have to find a way to repair their relationship afterward, but mostly because he loved her very much and she deserved a treat every now and then! So, here he was, busting his ass in search of a squirrel, tripping over vines and getting burrs stuck in his pelt in the process. It's for Vennie, he reminded himself. For my Princess.

Theo lounged around on the rock, a deep purr rumbling in his throat. They had dozed off, his ears still listening to birds. He was only listening to the birds, really. He had yet to eat his squirrel, his paw resting over his meal. He stretched, still laying on his side. He was quite relaxed at the moment, dozing off, his head flopped off the side of the rock. Leaving that group of disgusting rouges was the best decision of his life. He was basically now asleep, ears still pricked up.

It was then that he tumbled out of the underbrush, only just barely able to regain his balance instead of face-planting into the clearing he'd just popped out into. Fixing himself, he noticed a cat lounging on a rock just a few rabbit's lengths away from him, lying next to a squirrel with a delicate paw placed over it. Prince suddenly had an ethical dilemma to deal with.

Here, laying in front of him, was some random cat who had caught a squirrel. The very thing he needed to get for Vennie. It would probably be somewhat simple to take, if he was careful. On the other paw, this was literally stealing. This cat had rightfully caught their own meal, and were probably preparing to eat it. But that was selfish, no? There were other cats out there who... really wanted that squirrel. Maybe. He didn't particularly want it, but Vennie would personally claw his eyes out if he didn't bring one home.

So there he was, frozen in place, silently panicking, owl-eyed stare flicking back and forth from the dozing cat to the squirrel and then back again.
