An apprentice had asked her to teach him how to climb.
Spiderpaw, specifically.

She had agreed to it, obviously.
climbing wasn't her strong suit, but she can do it.
So, she trotted into the territory to find a good tree, Spiderpaw(probably) behind her.

He followed quickly behind the warrior, just grateful she’d teach him. This was his chance to prove to other cats (and himself most importantly) that he wasn’t a failure or a flop to ShadowClan. He must do good. It wasn’t a choice. He knew a bit of climbing at least. He could remember the basics that Bristle’Thorn had went over with him. It was nice—when he was a new apprentice she explained everything he would have to know, in good detail nonetheless!

Bloomingblaze soon stopped.
This looked like a good tree!
Not too thick or thin, low branches as to not risk injury, it seemed perfect for training.

"Alright, here we are." She said "We're gonna go to that low branch there, so, ya' know, no injuries. Anywho, I'ma show you first, and then y're gonna do it, alright?"
Listen, she's fully aware she's not a great teacher.
Why she has an apprentice?
Only StarClan and Dawnstar know.

The large tortoiseshell then latched her claws onto the tree, pushing herself up toward the branch. As soon as she got on the branch, she came back down.
"Just gotta use y'r legs to push and pull." She explained "Ready to try?"

He listened as the cat spoke. Yep. All things his mentor had told him. He had watched carefully however as the she demonstrated the skill. Okay. Repeat it? Couldn’t be that hard as it wasn’t that high of a branch and he never felt height being a fear of his.

He went up to the tree, evaluated the path he’d take or a moment before jumping up and catching himself up a bit in the tree, claws dug in. He then inched up, doing larger and larger gaps each time his did it, until he finally reached the low branch. He then just looked down then at the warrior. He realized he hadn’t spoken the entire time. “That good?” he asked, simply for good measures.

He nodded, glancing to what appeared to be the next branch up. “That one?” he questioned, flicking his tail in the direction of a branch up and across from him. He waited for an answer from the warrior, nodding curtly. “Seems easy enough.” He shrugged. The whole climbing thing seemed pretty simple. Hey, something he’s good at! At least he’s not a failure at this and falling in his ass. At least not yet.

Bloomingblaze nodded "Alright!" She called up "Get goin' at y'r own speed!"

That was the best way she could assure Spiderpaw that she wasn't rushing him.
She waited at the bottom, juuuust in case.
You never know when a cat may fall out of a tree.

He situated himself then clung into the tree trunk, inching sideways first. His first attempt to clump up his back leg reached up, trying to find a good place to claw into but instead, his foot slipped, causing him a moment to just hang by his front legs. His heart skipped a beat as it happened, causing him to rapidly try and re-find his footing. “Drat..” he grumbled, finally finding it and tried going on like nothing happened, though his ears pinned against his skull in post-panic.

Bloomingblaze tensed up when Spiderpaw almost fell, moving to be ready to catch him.
Luckily, he had regained his footing.
Oh thank StarClan, that was close.

"Ya' alright?" She asked anyway, just in case.
The event probably scared him at least a little.

He waited to respond to the warrior until he reached the branch safe and sound, which he luckily had. “Yeah…” he said quietly. He should probably speak up right? Being as far away as he was. “Uh- yeah. Yeah I’m fine.” He repeated louder, digging his claws deeply into the branch. It’s fine. He was doing good at this either way. Every cat made mistakes right? Yes. The answer was yes.

He looked up then down. What did he do now? “Uhh…it’s cool I’m up here and all but…now what?” he questions the warrior. Did he just jump? Perhaps branch to branch. Or climb down? But that felt worse he thought.
