We're fish, Not Billy Goats! [Fadingstar Tree climbing lesson]
RUSSETHOWL
He/Him - 18 Moons - RiverClan Warrior [Formerly ThC]
Purrks: Ultimate Predator
A large russet tom with green eyes
The large RiverClanner led his leader out of camp, stars he was nervous. He was teaching a skill to his leader of all cats! After walking for a bit, Russethound spotted a nice, firm tree, the best part being it was on stable ground. Russethowl unsheathed his claws and dug it into the bark, ensuring that it was firm enough to climb. Once he was sure, he turned to Fadingstar. "Alright, let me go over a couple of things first. One, you must do exactly as I say, I know how to do this better then you. Second, it's alright to be afraid of heights. I've seen countless cats afraid of heights, and it understandable. Got it? Good," the tom said before beginning his lesson. "First things first, when tree climbing your claws must always be unsheathed. But, to actually climb, you need to learn how to get a grip. What you need to do is dig your claws past the bark and into the softer wood. The wood is easier to grip then the bark," he explained, unsheathing his claws and demonstrating. "Come over here and try it, I made sure that this tree would be good for a beginner like you," he mewed, flicking hi tail for his leader to come over.

Re: We're fish, Not Billy Goats! [Fadingstar Tree climbing lesson]
As Fadingstar followed Russethowl down the mountain toward the trees before, he began to question whether this was a good idea or not. When he'd approached the former ThunderClan warrior for a tree climbing lesson, it had been so he could give RiverClan an edge. If they had warriors capable of scaling trees, it would weaken an advantage their enemy had against them.
That said, was this really right for a RiverClan cat to be doing? The idea felt strange; they weren't squirrels. Still, even if it made him uneasy, the logical part of him knew that RiverClan gaining new skills could never be a bad thing. Tree climbing was simply a supplementary skill; it would never be their Clan's focus.
His whiskers twitched at Russethowl's tone; he wasn't a huge fan of being spoken to like that, but he was starting to learn when to pick and choose his battles.
Fadingstar nodded at Russethowl's explanation. Push past the bark and dig into the softer wood beneath; okay. Padding up to the tree, he sat back on his haunches and slapped his paws against the trunk. He dug hard into the bark, using more force than he needed to. His claws sank deep into the wood underneath.
