hello hello, sorry for all the pings i feel very bad about pinging you but i suppose this is like a regular event and you can just ignore it so its fine?.
i thought a little hunting non-event for kits would be a lovely thing and since keeping track is awfully hard on public threads and events kind of scare me, here i am with this amazing (/silly) private thread. additionally, sorry, this is a mess

rookfire had volunteered to help teach kit classes some time ago and almost forgotten about it until he was actually approached for training. seemed to have been long enough between volunteering and someone asking for him to forget, now, what did that mean for him...or rather, what did that mean for his popularity and opinion on him around the clan.. could the kits even know things like this? whatever it was, the medic was mildly disappointed a kit had asked after palepaw got apprenticed since he wouldve liked the little guy to be around for another event he attended, or well, hosted this time. there would be a good lot of other kits to teach though, some of which ought to be dawnstars spawn and he was curious about those.
though his first interaction with, what was it?, houndkit? aaand emberkit?, couldnt really be classified as positive, one of them being a little thief and the other calling his feather a bad gift, he liked the two. silly wee things.

on the way to the nursery, he had decided to host his little event just outside the nursery to ensure the queens could keep and eye on their kits without being smacked on accident, surely nightshiver preferred this as well. the only little issue was that rookfire had actually no idea how to teach the very basics of hunting to kits specifically, young apprentices sure but kits? was there something he had to consider..huh. he'd have to find out.
"wee ones! who of you wants to learn to hunt hm? get a head start on your training?" head pocked into the nursery, small smile on his lips and eyes scanning the kits in the nursery, and disappeared almost as fast as he had appeared to wait outside. not like he didnt like the nursery, he just held a certain dislike towards the milky sweet scent that felt almost suffocating within the den.

Snowkit slowly woke up from a sleep in the nursery. She blinked a few times before yawning and starting to stretch. Where were her siblings? She looked around but her gaze caught a silhouette outside the nursery entrance instead. It was Rookfire who poked his head inside and talked about… hunting lessons? Oh, heck yeah. "Count me in!" she meowed and gave her chest a quick lick after yet another big yawn. The white and grey tabby went outside and sat close to Rookfire to listen to further instructions. She was old enough to become an apprentice soon and a little head start would be perfect for her.

At the sound of a voice ringing out across the nursery, Venomkit instantly burst out of the nest she was hiding under and hurried over to the tom that had appeared near the mouth of the den. Small legs ran as fast as they could until she skidded sideways out of the nursery and pounced at his paws, tail lashing in anticipation.

"I wanna, I wanna! I'll be the best! I'll catch a...uh...a scary thing!" The toygress searched for the words before deciding she couldn't think of anything, still she was shaking with enthusiasm. Maybe she could catch Mammy something! What did Mammy like? Hmm she could figure it out! The kitten imagined the happiness on Dawnstar's face once she, one of her favourite kits, gifted her a delicious piece of prey almost as big as her! The thought made the kitten purr loudly.

The Heartbreaker had arrived too late for the meeting, it seemed. Oh well, at least she had left Momthery’s den. At 2 moons old, Rowankit was more intent on improving herself than ever. She don’t expect to be the best, she just expected to be better. To be noticed. No matter the cost. Yet for now there wasn’t much of a cost attached other than probably sore muscles.

The cat who had poked their head into the nursery had spoken about any kits, and despite being the leader’s daughter, Rowankit woefully admitted she could easily be grouped with everyone else. Her young experience with shame hadn’t been forgotten so easily, of course. Even though she didn’t remember it too clearly. The Heartbreaker quietly approached the cat, making the assumption that they held an air of importance at this moment. For now, they would be teaching Rowankit a skill. That meant they must be respected. From Momthery’s den the small tabby had heard the name Rookfire, and while she had peeped her head out into the bright light she could recognize them up close. ”I want to learn.” Rowankit announced briskly, tail-tip flicking as she halted abruptly, looking upward. ”Teach me?”

While she wasn't in the nursery, Scorp didn't miss the sound of training before she was an apprentice. Her amber eyes grew huge and a toothy grin followed suit before her voice boomed across the clearing. "ME TOO, MEEEE TOOOO!!!" And just like that, the dark tabby scampered across the clearing, running straight at Rookfire, skidding to a halt just before running straight into his legs. "TEACH ME TOO!??" She exclaimed, sitting down at his paws, staring straight up. Her tail swished across the ground like a dog, wagging happily and stirring up the dust from the ground.

Her eyes would eventually move to adjust as she caught sight of a couple of her siblings showing up too. "Ohhhh! Row-ran! Vemom! HIIII"! She'd yell further, lifting a paw and waving it dramatically in the air. Scorp still hadn't learned how to control her volume, often finding she was told to quiet down, but forgetting about it 5 minutes later.

Pantherkit’s eyes lit up the second he heard Rookfire's voice echoed from the nursery entrance—which, he was in there out of boredom, anyway—offering to teach them how to hunt. His heart quickened in his chest as he watched Venomkit burst out from beneath a random nest, tail lashing and voice bubbling with enthusiasm. His sister's excitement was contagious, and before he knew it, Rowankit and Scorpionkit were there too—Rowankit seemingly looking cool and determined, and Scorpionkit yelling at the top of her lungs like she always did and hurting his little ears. The energy in the air was electric, and Pantherkit felt it wash over him, pulling him into the excitement. He couldn't stay still. His paws fidgeted beneath him as his ears twitched with growing anticipation. Hunting... real hunting? The idea sent a spark of excitement shooting down his spine. Without thinking, Pantherkit sprang up from his spot, nearly tripping over his own paws in his rush. His tiny legs carried him toward the nursery entrance as fast as they could, his heart pounding in his chest. "Me too! Me too!" he shouted, his voice cracking with enthusiasm as he joined his littermates. His small body practically buzzed with energy, and he could barely contain his eagerness as he skidded to a halt next to Venomkit and the others, his striped tail flicking wildly behind him. The thought of learning how to stalk prey, of being able to catch something all on his own like the cool warriors did, made his chest swell with excitement.

His pale gaze shot up to Rookfire, his eyes shining like stars. "I want to learn to hunt! I want to be the best hunter ever with Scorp, Rowy, and Venny!" he exclaimed, nearly bouncing in place. The idea of catching a piece of prey and bringing it back to Dawnstar filled him with pride, his mind already racing ahead to the moment he could present her with his prize. He could picture her smile, maybe even a word of praise. The idea made his heart race even faster. "Teach me, please!" he begged, his voice trembling with excitement. Just wait—I'll show them all what I can do in the future. He thought, feeling his determination grow. This was his chance to prove himself, to be just his mother that he admired so much.

Like a shadow, Breezekit had trailed after Scorpionkit wordlessly. Silently. He's not exactly sure what's going on but it was an excuse to escape Mother's nest and stare at the world that lay beyond with wide, curious yellow hues. As the others yell and chirp excitedly about whatever the older cat that smelled of herbs had promised them, his attention turns to the wind amongst the tree branches high above. Head in the clouds... What an interesting fellow.

Icekit padded over. She’d heard about apprentices and how they trained to become warriors. That was cool. A head-start on that? Count her in!

Golden tabby head lifted at the call, ears pricked forward. Bramblekit blinked his deep blue eyes, highly interested in this opportunity. He padded over, looking at his sister a bit surprised. But then again, they were doing everything they could to prepare for being warriors. So maybe it wasn't that surprising. "I would like to take part." He meowed coolly. Bramblekit sat near his sister, nodding his head in greeting. "Don't wander too far okay?" He murmured to her. He didn't care if she didn't want to spend the event with him, as long as she was safe and didn't wander from the group. They may be used to the solitude, but he was worried for her, she could still get lost or hurt.

Hmm perhaps she'd overslept or maybe she'd woken up only to decide she wanted to sleep some more. By the time adderkit had risen from mother's den the sun was no longer slowing crawling into the sky but brightly shining overhead. She squinted up at it with an expression of mild dissapointment. She quite enjoyed waking up just before the sun did, watching it slowly rise and paint the sky shades of orange and pale blue, feeling the cold morning breeze through her ungroomed fur or watching as the dawn patrols were sent out and wondering what it would be like outside of camp at this time. It was not only routine to her but also calming. Course the first few times she had left the nest that early, she'd accidentally woke up most of her siblings but over time she had learnt how to sneak out the den without disturbing anyone's sleep. Even Mother's, though she was unsure if Mother was actually secretly awake or not. Giving the Tufts of fur that stuck up on her shoulder a few quick licks, she began making her way towards her usual sitting spot. The mound above the nursery, it wasn't for any reason other than sitting amongst the wild flowers and observing the clan from there. She was just about to settle when in the corner of her vision she spotted somecat approaching. It was that tom that lived in the den that was directly across from the nursery and Mothers den. Below the roots. She sort of remembered him, he was important...or atleast she thinks he is? Or was that some other cat. She watched with interest as he disappeared momentarily into the nursery, his call loud enough for her to hear even from outside. Hunting? She thought only Apprentices and Warriors were allowed to do that and even so, there was no prey inside the camp for them to hunt. Kits weren't allowed outside according to her knowledge.

Hunting did sound exciting enough and she didn't seem to be the only one to think this way. A lot of kits seemed to be racing out the nursery, wanting to join this hunting lesson. Majority of them being her littermates-- why had they been inside the nursery? She'd been in there before and it wasn't all that interesting. Maybe they were talking to someone or exploring. With light steps, she made her way up to the dark tom with her question in mind. Subconsciously flattening her ears as Scorpion began shouting about how she wanted to learn hunting, she was beginning to get used to how loud some of her littermates could be. Didn't mean it hurt her ears any less, she just came less as a surprise and more as expected. Once she was at the toms paws, she sat down and looked up him with big green eyes. "um sorry sir, but how will be hunting?" she asked quietly raising her paw as she tries to be as respectful as possible. "there isn't any prey in camp to hunt so does that mean you'll be taking us outside?"
