A Quail makes an angry Goldenwhisker

Goldenwhisker smelled WindClan. The scent wafted against her nose. There was the sensation again. There was the hunger. The one that required... Blood.

"Finally I got away from those suckers in camp," Quailpaw chuckled under her breath. "No more little mouse-brains on my tail!"

She didn't even bother to check her surroundings. I'm strong enough to fend off anything that comes my way! Quailpaw thought, pride welling up in her chest.

That was likely her biggest mistake with this whole leaving camp thing.

Goldenwhisker had a fresh WindClan scent on her nose, and she saw a small cat passing by. She crouched down, then jumped in front of her, blocking her path from padding on.

Quailpaw continued walking before being suddenly greeted by a huge cat in front of her. "Oh, heh, hello there!" Quailpaw said, a little bit of nervousness shining through her voice. Okay, maybe more than a little bit. Maybe a lot.

"Well, uh, you sure look...angry. Want some...some prey?"

Growling, Goldenwhisker didn't say a word. She pounced on top of Quailpaw. It was time to see how strong this cat really was.

Quailpaw hissed, though it didn't seem to stop this large cat. "Get...off...you...big...feather-brain!" Quailpaw hissed, trying to use what strength she thought she had to pry Goldenwhisker off of her.

"What in StarClan do you want, you pesky, big–" Quailpaw was then interrupted.

Goldenwhisker pressed the apprentice down, scratching Quailpaw's ear. She sat up, watching blood drip into Quailpaw's eyes. Claws unsheathed, she raked the young apprentice's back. Goldenwhisker broke away, hiding in a bush to see what would happen next.

Quailpaw tried to force her eyes open, but it was so painful that she couldn't. "I-I can't see!" Quailpaw roared, digging her claws into the dirt to keep her balance. Her ear hurt, her back hurt. Blood trickled down, off of her body and dripping into the soil.

Quailpaw tried taking her paw and rubbing her eyes, which kind of worked. She could see now, but her vision was a bit blurry and her eyes hurt. She looked around. There was red coming from her ear and back, where it had been hurting.

Is that...blood? Quailpaw gasped. It was! How was this possible? Was she truly not the best apprentice as she'd thought? The best apprentice wouldn't get hurt like this! She tried sniffing out her attacker, but all she could really smell was blood. The iron-like scent that filled her nostrils.

Goldenwhisker slipped away, thinking her victim was dead. She went to a nearby stream, washing the blood off of her pelt. She headed back to camp, feeling good about herself. (Why don't you make one more post, then this will be closed.)

Quailpaw could hear pawsteps now. But the steps seemed to move away from her. She decided it wasn't worth the energy to go chasing them; that would likely involve getting more injuries. No, instead, she padded towards the WindClan camp, letting out quiet hisses in pain.
