With the apprentice more or less convinced, Leafcry continued the treacherous journey up the tree trunk. One paw at a time, they dug their claws into the bark, slowly scaling their way up.

At one point, Leafcry was attempting to reach for a branch up above when one of his paws slipped, and he slid down a fair distance. He was able to regain his balance by scrambling for a nearby branch, but stirred it a bit too much, sending a few rogue acorns Alpinepaw’s way.

“Ah, sorry!” Leafcry called down apologetically.

What a peaceful day in ThunderClan.

Boring. Maybe they could find something fun to do, like hang out with some other warriors, or apprentices.

Summerpaw yawned and stretched, their tail twitching slightly with boredom. Where was their mentor and why wasn't he training them?? Summerpaw shrugged. At least this gave Summerpaw freedom from exhausting apprentice work!

"I reeeeaaaally wonder what Lightningeagle is up to..." Summerpaw hummed to themself, their eyes shut and their head tilted upwards as if thinking.

Snapping out of their thoughts, Summerpaw looked around the ThunderClan clering. All seemed well. No conflict for once. Smiling, they padded over to a random warrior that they found interesting to talk to. A very unfamiliar warrior, but better than no one.

A full sun, framed by fluffy afternoon clouds, reached golden hands below its realm. Its golden echoes barely touched the earth, a shy embrace. Birds call, their songs repeated and blended together, the occasional cricket adding their pitchy thrum. A perfect day to sun oneself.

A sudden gust of wind whistled a quiet melody through the air, and Yarrowpelt sat herself elegantly down to watch as the tall grasses bobbed up and down, up and down, all nodding their heads to the chorus. Another gust, and she closed her eyes. Her newfound peers coaxed her into bobbing her head along, barely visible, up and down, up and down.

Her nose twitched to the scent of another cat, and she blinked awake to find a pair of young eyes staring back up at her. Really, they couldn't be much older than ten moons. What could they want? Yarrowpelt tilted her head at the apprentice. "May I help you, starling?" She cooed, offering them a gentle smile.

Summerpaw smiled. It was always lovely to get positive reaction from cats.

"Hello," They purred, ears perked up. "I hope I wasn't bothering you. I'd hate to inconvenience you in any way."

Then, a subtle introduction. Or did the introduction usually come first?

"I'm Summerpaw. I haven't met all the cats in ThunderClan yet, who might you be?" They paused. Had the cat asked them a question? What was the question? Their frowned for a heartbet before instantly smiling again, not wanting to give the cat the wrong idea.

Yarrowpelt eyed the young cat, her smile still set in its place. "It's not a bother, really. I just enjoy the sun. Don't you?" She lifted a paw up to her mouth to lick obsessively in an awkward sort of pause. "I'm Yarrowpelt," she continued after she had finished, setting her foot daintily back on the grassy turf.

Summerpaw. A befitting name for an odd cat, in Yarrowpelt's humble opinion. Their mouth kept twitching, the corners quirking up and down as if they weren't sure if they should smile or remain apathetic to the greeting. The warrior tittered a bit to herself as they finally settled into a small grin.

"I suppose you get this a lot," Yarrowpelt resumed, "but your eyes are so..." She didn't finish her sentence, but decided to leave the conclusion to Summerpaw's imagination. Interesting, certainly, each ruling a separate half of their face, as the sun rules the day and the moon, the night. Yes, interesting, very curious indeed.
