Hiding In The Sky -> Shatterpaw's Climbing Lesson

Shatterpaw purposely seeks his mentor out before he looks at the slightly smaller tom. He glowers at the tom. "Do your job and teach me to climb. Teach me to be a warrior." He then looks over his shoulder, making sure that no other cats had seen or heard him. this may have been a bad idea, but i need to be a warrior when Frecklepaw does.

Jayfeather looks at his apprentice in slight surprise before he nods his head. His fur ruffles slightly, but he smooths it down quickly when the apprentice tells him to do his job. He frowns at the cat before shrugging his shoulders. He stands, and sees that the other cat is a little larger than him. oh starclan he'll be big. he thinks to himself before he starts to walk towards the territory, looking over his shoulder at Shatterpaw.

Shatterpaw follows the warrior before glaring at his back. He thinks of how the tom had pushed him into the water when he was teaching him to swim, and his anger only rises. But then he stops himself from attacking his mentor - that is not a good idea. Not at all. The two cats walk into the territory, and stop at a tree marked with claws.

Jayfeather looks at Shatterpaw before he frowns again. Looking at the tree, he jumps up and then looks down at the apprentice. His claws dig into the tree, and he gazes at the apprentice. "Join me." He says, then motions for the pawholds.

"try to jump and grab that pawhold, then pull yourself up." He mews before sitting back, waiting.

He frowns, knowing that the other cat is waiting for him to fail. He moves back slightly, and gazes at the tree. He calculates about how high he'd need to jump, then he jumps. His claws dig into the tree, then he frowns when he feels a slight tugging on his right claws. He then shakes it off and grabs the nearest pawhold, pulling himself up until he's beside Jayfeather. For a moment, he thinks about pushing the warrior down - but he shakes that thought away. Shatterpaw wants - and needs - a life.

Jayfeather nods his head. "Good. Now get down." He says, and starts to smirk, backing down the tree, looking over his shoulder the whole time.

Shatterpaw grits his teeth and follows his mentor's lead - not as gracefully, of course, but he still follows despite how awkward it seems. The young but large apprentice ends up down beside his mentor after a moment, and he glares at him before the blue-grey-furred tom leads him back to Camp. Thank StarClan.
