The initial claiming of the firefly cove had come with little effort or cost to Riverclan, a welcome surprise given all the trouble the clan that previously owned it had created. The raid after?..... Not so much. The cost had been heavy with Ottersplash and Olivenose losing their lives and a verifiable flood of injured cats for the medicine cat to heal after. The action was worth it in making the grab for the land (even if the raid after was not), thunderclan needed to be taught a lesson on why they should step off and they needed to pay for the lives they stole before their time. Still it was a hard won battle and any chance they could loose their new stretch of territory was unacceptable.

How to keep it though... It was one of the more distant stretches of land from riverclans camp so would be harder to constantly keep an eye on and given it was closer to thunderclan should they wish to contest it the mousehearts could get more cat here faster. The cove would need to be prepared and braced for the inevitable battle for it that would come if riverclan had any hope of keeping it. Snakeheart had thought for days how this could be done, how things could be tipped in their favour so that his clanmates stood a better chance of never having to be healed and it came to him one day as he padded out of camp and happened along the thunderclan border. They were going to fortify the cove and rig it with traps so that even if they werent there the mouse-hearts wouldnt have an easy time in the area.

His ringing cry for this preparatory event came only a day later.
"Riverclan! I see no wisdom in not preparing for the worst and dont wish to lose what we payed so much to take so soon after we have gained it! Firefly cove must be fortified and prepared for an attack! Any warrior and apprentice who is interested follow me to the cove and we'll set up defences to protect ourself should the worst come! Any cat that is particularly interested in working to help and protect Riverclan approach me and I may assign you to lead a team to gather supplies for this or construct briar barriers or the paw shredding shell ring. If anyone has any other ideas for defences please do approach me with them too, anything can be of help. We leave immediately!"
With his loud call done and a certainty that everyone had at least heard it even if they were too ignore it he turned tail and started to lead whoever gathered out of camp and too their newly claimed land.

Let it be known Riverclan would not sit idle.

(This counts as a life experience lesson for apps so does count towards training/warrior requirements)

Goldenpaw's ears pricked up when she heard the announcement.
Finally she mumbled. After her mentor's disappearance she
hadn't had mush to do except hunting and traning for her self and she
was glad to get something else to focus on. And even though she doubted she'd
be put in charge of anything since she was still an apprentice she was still
happy to help. I'll come she mewed and rushed up to the warrior
that had spoken.

Lizardfrost, still a little beaten up after the battle, decided to join in. She wouldn't skip an opportunity to do some solid work, strengthening herself. And RiverClan, of course. As much as the tuxedo hated to admit it, the clan was just an afterthought. What Lizardfrost did, she did because it was what the Warrior Code said. Or perhaps simply because all she wanted was to get stronger...

Webpaw happily scampered over. She wanted to beat that Thunderclan scum, she had no idea why she hated Thunderclan so much, but for some reason she did. Unfortunately this wasn’t a Thunderclan shredding event, just a protecting the new territory.

Blizzardsky shot out glancing at the cats who gathered,” I’ll lead a gathering patrol” he called happy to help. He had nothing better to do really, other than father his children of course. But he trusted them on their own, besides he was fine on his own as a kit (well he believed he was) so why wouldn’t it be the same for his kits.

Sparrowskip padded into Firefly cove as he heard Snakehearts call. He had been slacking a bit since the battle so he figured he'd join this. Not like he was assigned to any normal patrols lately anyway. "Whatever you need done I'll gladly help with Snakeheart." He said with a tired smile on his face.

Snakeheart had a lot of good ideas, and Splashleap spun her head quickly as the medicine cat called warriors and apprentices over to assist in fortifying the cove. It made sense, bordering Thunderclan directly, and would likely be the focus of any counterattack they launched. At least, any major one that wasn't individual warriors causing trouble. Trotting quickly over, she fell into step with the other warriors who were going, noticing that several apprentices were also coming along. Hopefully they wouldn't run into any trouble, or the apprentices at least had battle training. You would think that in the present climate mentors would teach basic moves immediately, but the number of apprentices who stayed behind for the raid suggested otherwise.

Spiderstorm wasn't feeling so good but that had never been a deterrent before and it wouldn't be one now. As soon as she heard something about something she could do, the warrior was right on it, walking slowly and half-limping behind Snakeheart as he led the way over to Firefly Cove. Heck yea.
