get ou-tter here! [otter fight pt. deux]
Stormstar - RiverClan Leader
It had been a lot of back and forth, wrestling with herself in her den after having left the elder's den. A sharp voice had been yowling the entire time in her head on how this issue wasn't just something she could solve with claws and teeth, less she wanted to risk more death. Otters and their vile, brutal, humorous ways, plaguing her Clan... it made her want to rip and tear into them even more. As much as she wanted to dive head first into the waters and drive them all out herself to protect RiverClan, she knew that was about as foolish as standing still on the bank and waiting for them to just come and grab her.
But the more she paced, the more she knew she couldn't just do nothing. Stormstar had an entire Clan to think about, and if these beasts kept stealing the fish the Clan would go hungry. Going into leaf-bare, that wasn't a good thing. Her mind had worked itself into exhaustion, and by the time she had finally stopped, panting, she had come up with a plan. Granted it probably wasn't perfect, but it was the Clan's best shot at driving these beasts away from their home.
So with that she had called for the warriors going on the patrol. Ten of them, to be exact - double the last patrol. Between all of them, and her new plan, they should at least be able to do some damage - though anxiety from Waterlily's history letter still clawed at her mind.
Morning mist still swirled around her paws as Stormstar halted the patrol a good ways away from the border. Already she could hear the chittering through the trees, and let out a low snarl in response. "We're no match for 'em in water, no matter how good a swimmer you think you are. Our best bet is to lure them out onto land. They're still a threat, but at least it'll even the playing field somewhat." Gesturing to the several fish she had brought with her as bait, she continued,. "We're gonna use these 'n myself as bait to lure them to land-" because like hell she was letting any of her warriors into that position, and a sharp glare hopefully conveyed that this part of the plan was not up for debate "-'n once they come fully onto land, we'll have two waves of patrols."
"Goldfish, Floodsight, Weepin'wind, Willowtail, 'n Seabreeze-" truthfully, she was worried about taking the tom out on this patrol, but perhaps he needed to be reminded of what it meant to be a warrior. Maybe tearing and shredding into some otters would get his mind off his sister - she hoped "-I want you to do your best to hide yourselves behind me where I'll be on the bank to lure them out. My plan is to get as many as I can to chase me onto land, 'n when I give the signal I want you to surge forward. If you can, pair up 'n tackle one otter together. There aren't that many, but they pack a punch, 'n it's a death sentence to try 'n take them on alone." She leveled her gaze at each of the patrol members, her tone dead serious.
"While they're doin' that," she continued, looking over at the rest of the patrol, "I want Rowanmane, Peachspring, Cascadin'rapids, Fishleap, 'n Lavenderleopard to position yourselves hidden in the undergrowth as close to the bank as you can get. Once you see the otters pass you, come out 'n block the way back to the river - do not let them get back to it. If we can keep 'em on land, we stand a fightin' chance. 'N again, if you can do two cats to a single otter, you'll have a better chance." It would be difficult, but hopefully not impossible. She didn't... want to be grouped in with Goosestar.
Okay so. Plan delivered. Now all that was left was to execute it. Stormstar let her gaze sweep over the cats gathered. "...'M not foolish enough to think we'll come out of this unscathed, or without injuries. Otters are a threat no one who's alive's faced before. A lot of unknowns... just... fight hard, 'n if things aren't goin' your way you fall back. If this doesn't work..." Stormstar trailed off, shaking her head. "We'll cross that log if we get to it. For now, get into your positions." With that she flicked her tail, and picked up the few fish she had brought.
Rolling her shoulders and quelling the initial panic that rose in her chest, Stormstar trotted out into the open and immediately her gaze fell onto the otters. There they were, she counted about fix or six. Two more than last time, unless others were hiding. Their chittering grew louder as she set the fish down, one by one, until finally she grew closer to the bank. The chittering stopped as the creatures turned to peer at her, already swimming closer to the shore as if sizing the leader up as their next source of entertainment. "...Better give it your all, you wet rats," the leader spat after tossing the fish into the river and watching the creatures spalsh towards it. Her paws paused momentarily before leading her right towards the river's edge. Fierce blue eyes peered into beady black ones, her claws curling into the dirt. Once the fish was disposed of, the otters turned their attention back to her. Closer... closer...
Once the first two otters laid their paws onto the bank Stormstar turned and sprang away, ignoring the flash of pain as sharp teeth managed to snap off some fur from her fleeing tail. She could hear them clambering up onto land behind her, praying to the stars above that all of them - or at the very least all but one - had followed her out of the water. "NOW!" Her yowl was directed towards the first wave of the patrol, and at the first sight of them the leader would turn, snarling and spitting towards the first otter who nearly crashed over her as she lunched for its face, aiming to score her claws down its face to at least do some hefty damage before it had much time to react.
HOW THIS WILL WORK - PLEASE READ:
There will be an implemented posting order! Patrol one, consisting of Goldfish, Floodsight, Weepingwind, Willowtail, and Seabreeze, will be the ones to post first. Bumps will be issued at minimum 12 hours between posts, as this is a fast paced roleplay. If more than 24 hours passes without the next person going, that character will be skipped and I will bump the next person to go.
Once all Patrol One have posted, the second wave - Patrol Two, consisting of Rowanmane, Peachspring, Cascadingrapids, Fishleap, and Lavenderleopard - will be allowed to post. Those in Patrol Two, do not post until all members of Patrol One have posted.
There are a total of six otters! Five have followed Stormstar onto land, while the sixth one hangs out near the bank. This one will be the one that eventually realizes the situation is more trouble than its worth and flees. Any cat in Patrol Two is welcome to try and injure this one, as it is a younger otter and therefore not as skilled as the bigger ones!
TLDR
THOSE WHO CAN POST NOW:

Willowtail heard her name and nodded, finding her patrol mates she waited for the next command. Willowtail spotted a nice, decent bunch of rocks and dirt. Being a rock colored grey with lightish brown/ginger stripes, she knew she'd blend in perfectly, heading over, Willowtail being the size of an apprentice crouched behind them, her ears perked and her abnormally long tail steady
Following her clanmates footsteps, the young warriors, despite just losing her brother to infection and her mate to the harsh river. The grief striken Molly decided to use this anger, as fuel for this battle. Although it was tempting, she knew she couldn't be utterly stupid for it.. At Weeping....gosh Weepingpaw... Willowtail missed her brother dearly. A-anyways. At Weepingwinds strike, Willowtail raced forward, slipping around one otter and grabbing it with sharp claws, her abnormally long tail lashing behind her in anger as she ripped her claws over one ear of the slippery animal before getting thrown off

Re: get ou-tter here! [otter fight pt. deux]
Weepingwind
short-furred, black ghost tabby with dark green eyes
purrks: n/a
she/her | riverclan warrior | 31 moons
Truth be told, she was pleased Stormstar had called for her to come along with them for this fight. Her claws have been itching for some action, her mind keenly sharp with anticipation. As much as the ghost tabby didn’t mind cleaning out the elders’ den—despite how utterly filthy it was—this was where her true self thrived in: in the heat of battle. As the patrol advanced through the mist of morning, her deep green eyes flicked toward Stormstar, watching as their leader laid out the plan. The otters had been a thorn in RiverClan's side for too long, stealing prey and disrupting the very limited balance they held. The mere thought of those creatures slithering through the river sent a flare of anger through Weepingwind. She flexed her claws, sinking them into the damp earth beneath her paws, imagining for a moment that it was the slick hide of an otter instead. The anger that simmered in her chest was sharp, but Weepingwind knew better than to let it cloud her judgment. She couldn't afford to be reckless—not when the lives of her clan-mates depended on her staying sharp. With Stormstar leading them, she trusted that this plan would work, but that didn't make the risk any less real. As Stormstar's voice carried over the group, explaining the strategy, Weepingwind's striped tail flicked impatiently.
Lure them to land, strike as a team, don’t let them return to the water. It made sense; the otters were too fast and deadly in the river. They had to level the playing field. Her eyes narrowed slightly when Stormstar announced she would be the bait. A flicker of concern passed through Weepingwind, but she knew better than to make a peep about it. Stormstar was fierce, and if anyone could handle the danger of being the one to lure the otters, it was her. Still, Weepingwind couldn't shake the itch of protectiveness. She wasn't about to let her leader—or any of her clan-mates, honestly—go down without a fight. She’ll be right behind her and ready to strike when it is time. The tension in the air thickened as Stormstar signaled them to take their positions. Weepingwind quietly slipped into the undergrowth, her body moving with fluid grace as she crouched low, her dark pelt blending into the shadows. Her eyes remained locked on the riverbank, every muscle in her body coiled tight, ready to spring into action at the first sign of the otters. She knew her role—strike fast, strike hard, and above all, don’t let them escape. She glanced to her side, watching as the other patrol-members got themselves into position, a sharp nod coming from herself as she glanced back ahead of herself towards Stormstar. As Stormstar moved into the open, Weepingwind’s heart beat faster.
Her breath quickened as she watched Stormstar step confidently toward the water's edge. Weepingwind noted how her gaze was fixed on the shimmering surface of the river, waiting for the telltale ripples that signaled the otters’ approach. Weepingwind crouched lower, her claws sliding out to grip the damp earth beneath her, forcing herself to stay still. Patience was key—jump too soon, and they could ruin the whole plan. Moments stretched into heartbeats, and the morning air seemed to grow thicker with tension. Then, at last, she saw it. The surface of the river began to churn as the dark, sleek shapes of the otters appeared, moving towards the bait at alarming speed. Weepingwind’s eyes narrowed, her body tensing further as she prepared for the signal. The moment the first otter’s paws touched the bank, Weepingwind’s pulse quickened. She could see the gleam of its wet fur, its beady eyes glinting with dark intent as it clambered fully onto land. Then another, and another. The tension was unbearable, but still, she waited. Then Stormstar sprang away, her yowl slicing through the mist like a sharp blade. Without hesitation, Weepingwind burst from the shadows, her long legs propelling her forward with lightning speed. She barely registered the sound of her clan-mates potentially doing the same, their paws pounding against the soft earth.
Her target was the otter closest to her, the second-to-last one that made its way out of the river and followed behind its fellow water dwellers. With a fierce growl bubbling in her throat, Weepingwind sprang at the creature. She slammed into its side with all her weight, using the momentum of her leap to knock it away from the water’s edge and onto the muddy bank. The otter screeched, its long body writhing as it twisted to face her, teeth snapping viciously in an attempt to fend her off. But Weepingwind was faster. Her claws raked across its wet hide, drawing blood as she dodged a wild swipe from its powerful paws. For a brief moment, their eyes locked—hers burning with determination, and the otter's dark and full of primal rage. She could feel the strength beneath its fur, the way its muscles coiled and tensed as it prepared to fight back. This was no ordinary predator. The otter was larger and more powerful than she had expected, its jaws snapping dangerously close to her leg as it attempted to twist free. But Weepingwind wasn't about to let it escape. She feinted to the left, drawing the otter's attention just long enough to bring her claws down hard on its back. It let out another furious screech, but Weepingwind was relentless. She kept her body low and her strikes sharp, knowing that if she could keep the creature on land and away from the water, it would lose its advantage.
Another hearty snarl escaped her maw as the otter made another desperate attempt to scramble back toward the water. She lunged again, slamming her paws into its flank and forcing it to the ground with a grunt of effort. Her claws dug deep into its flesh, but she knew she couldn’t hold it for long. It was too strong, and if it slipped away now, they might lose control of the fight. "Someone help me pin this damned thing down!" she called out, her voice strained as she struggled to maintain her grip on the thrashing otter. She managed to glance toward the rest of the wave of the first patrol, hoping one of her clan-mates would be able to assist before the slimy creature managed to break free and escape back into the water.

Re: get ou-tter here! [otter fight pt. deux]
Floodsight
✦ RiverClan | 22 moons | Mind Reader ; Beefed Up T3 ; empty slot
Lure? Was it smart to have a cat as a lure, especially if this one was your leader? No matter how many extra lives she had, this was dangerous either way. If Floodsight had learned anything from the last battle; it was that these monsters were dangerous and even more so when they're blood hungry with a piece of prey dangled in front of their jaws. She didn't know how the dusky gray leader was able to recover so quickly, being dragged under the blood soaked waters, and be so ready to throw herself at them again. 'I guess that is what makes them different. A regular cat compared to someone who is able to throw their entire life to protect their clan.' Of course, she'd do whatever she could for the clan but the fear of death was a very real thing. Despite lacking the extreme version of the...self-sacrifice and hive-mind mentality, Floodsight was here to protect her clan and she'll have to be alive to do that.
Once again, the cats were at it again following the same cat with a different name to the Small Pines where the otters lay resting, stealing, claiming the grounds that affected their fishing route. Floodsight nodded along with Stormstar's idea before finding herself waiting behind her. She made quick note to track all the cats who was in her group before it all started. Goldfish...dependable. Weepingwind, Seabreeze, and...Willowtail. She found this odd for Stormstar to put such a young cat on such a dangerous battle, but then again, she would know her clan better than Floodsight ever would. Only stars could determined the fate of today's battle, whatever happens, Floodsight wanted this little one to make it out, safely.
At the call of her leader, Floodsight charged forward at the incoming otters who were chasing Stormstar out of the water. The silver warrior lunged for the second one, breaking the chain of wet rats and knocking it further to the side. Her claws reached out, with a powerful slam to the throat area, hoping to knock the wind out of the screeching otters.

Re: get ou-tter here! [otter fight pt. deux]
The lionheart had felt restless and quite frankly miserable ever since the meeting. Pacing, working herself until sheer exhaustion in hopes of sleeping at night. Jayfrost. Killed by the otters, or presumed killed. It ticked her off more than anything else, and uncharacteristically she wanted nothing more than to sink her claws deep into the brown-coated animals. When she was called over, Goldfish immediately approached, eyes determined. And then they were off.
It felt right somehow, stalking toward the otters, then crouching in the brush with narrowed eyes awaiting instructions. Always waiting, when she wanted nothing more than to lunge forward and attack. Oh well. Her tortoiseshell fur was up and her muscles flexed beneath her scarred pelt. Golden hues locked on an otter. STORMSTAR was going in the water. "Professional's tip is don't die." She informed softly, to nobody in partiular. And then the order was given. Goldfish immediately flung herself out of the brush with a snarl, claws unsheathed. At Weepingwind's words she flung herself at the strong, slick animal, hurdling toward it and attempted to crash into it with all of her weight and strength, catching it off guard.
[ Goldfish rolled a 20! ]
And it worked out perfectly. Ramming into the otter, The Ace of Spades caught it completely by surprise, body-checking the best-friend-murderer causing it to stagger backwards. Goldfish's weight was enough to assist Weepingwind successfully. The otter's head attempted to snap at her shoulder, but there was too much adrenaline for her to even care that her fur had been torn out. The pain went nearly unnoticed, but was dulled. Slashing. Biting. That was all she cared about, teeth sinking violently into the creature's ear. Blood. Goldfish didn't give a damn. Dead, dead, dead. She wanted them dead. She didn't care. She didn't want to let them get away. Dead was the only answer, if only logic didn't inform her that she was an idiot for letting her emotions get in the way of her judgement.
So perhaps Goldfish wasn't going to kill it. She wanted to, but it may be too tricky. But whatever happened, don't let go. She felt her teeth sink in further and further into the ear, and the creature let out a screech of rage as she felt her teeth meet through the flesh. Rip. Please rip. And it did. With a yank back, a recoil of her head, the creature's fleshy, furry ear was split. It wasn't a lot since the ears were small, but there was a ragged chunk. Good. It deserved pain. Jayfrost's pain.

Seabreeze
He/him | Riverclan Warrior | Moons: 23 | Purrks: Go with the Flow | The Collector | Ultimate Predator |
“No one is coming to save you.
Get up.”
TW: This character’s posts often exhibits triggers such as depression, suicidal tendencies/idealation, anxiety, and self loathing
Otters. Soon every creature alive would have taken someone from Seabreeze's life. His fellow cats killed his sister, his mother brought in by twolegs, who knows what happened to his other siblings, and otters took his best friend. It was a fact of life that there was loss. Everyone else knew that, Seabreeze knew that. The difference was that others got up and kept fighting. That was what he failed to do. The warrior found himself wanting to just lay down and let death overcome him and join so many of his own in the stars if he were to be welcomed there. What with his miserable performance of life it wasn't guaranteed after all. But what was the point of reminiscing.
Seabreeze offered a nod and a small verbal, 'yes, Stormstar,' before falling silent once more as he padded alongside the cat. This time they were that much more prepared and he knew that he was going to do at least three of these dreadful creatures for what they did to Mudsmoke. His claws unsheathed as he thought about ripping into their pelts, dragging across their throats to shred them to pieces. It wouldn't be that easy, of course, but a cat could dream. Besides if no matter how dragged out and agonizing their deaths, it can never pay penance to the cats they have killed without a second thought.
He won't let a single one get away, he would give chase, and kill it himself if necessary.
Seabreeze blinked away the violent thoughts as he crouched down away and hidden from view, but watching carefully as his leader went down into the front line. It showed her dedication and her bravery, no one wants a coward for a leader. Though Seabreeze certainly couldn't say anything about that given his track record of running away from his problems until they dragged him down into his drowning river. Stop! Stop distracting. He doesn't care about himself, there was no Seabreeze at this moment. Rather a beast that would do the job proper, and deserves no name. His pupils became pinprick slits, watching as Stormstar turned and started back with a yowl signalling their fight's beginning melody before the clash of claw and tooth made ways to lullabies of peace and justice.
The warrior pushed off, sprinting towards the otters chasing his leader across the bank. Vaguely registering the fact that Goldfish took after Weepingwind's, and he assumed that meant Floodsight and Willowtail are attacking together as he didn't- or rather, couldn't check- before he was crashing into the otter his leader was slashing. He allowed his momentum to carry him up and onto the wet rat's back. Digging his claws deep into the otter's flesh, he hoped that his arrival would keep the otter distracted from attacking, and allowed another opening for Stormstar to readjust or get another attack in. Speaking of, the warrior growled and lunged forward to snap his jaws back of the otter's neck, as though performing a death bite on a prey, and yanking back as hard as he could with his death grip.

[ You are all welcome to post now! Remember that your cats were instructed to hide out of sight of the otters close to the bank, and block them from the river after they took the bait and followed Stormstar! Don't forget about the otter that is still near the bank as well; since it is a baby, one cat can face off against it but this is the otter that will likely get away.
Just to clear up some confusion that happened in the first patrol there is no set posting order for Patrol Two itself. Anyone in Patrol Two can post first - after that, whoever is able to can post, and so on and so forth until everyone has posted once. Once everyone has posted once from both patrols, then a posting order will be established from there! As a last note, please always ask me if you have questions or are confused. It makes me sad when others are confused, and I don't know to clarify instructions if no one comes and asks me. /gen ]

Fishleap
RiverClan Warrior | Weird as Hell
No Purrks
Fishleap darted out of the bushes aiming at the small otter. ((rolled a 17 cuz yay I roll)) She bit its flank as it began running towards the river. The otter, making the weird noise otters make, whipped around and clawed at her face with its tiny claws. She leaped away, having to let go of the otter, but it caught her muzzle and left searing lines of pain, as it tried yet again to get away from the cats.
She wasn't entirely sure what had happened with the other patrol, but she hoped no cat had died. If one had, at least they died in battle rather than through sickness, or an unfair accident.
Her muzzle, she could tell, was gushing blood, and she could taste blood as well. The otter must have gotten at her tongue. She couldn't smell much now, because obviously if you bleed from your muzzle you can't smell much except blood. She didn't exactly reccommend trying to inhale blood either. It was really weird.

As Stormstar led the otters onto land and the leader's patrol had followed her, Lavenderleopard slipped out of the undergrowth at Fishleap's side. Pale blue hues widened as she saw an otter - the one by the riverbank and hadn't followed Stormstar - lash out at Fishleap, the Bengal cried out to her friend.
''Fishleap! Watch out!''

With a snarl, Lavenderleopard hurled herself at the otter and lashed out, aiming her claws at its eyes and nose. If the blow landed, it would cause some serious damage.

He rushed in front of the River bank after most the otters left. One seemed hesitant. He didn’t like that—an otter behind him and his clanmates. He was about to lunge at it but…it seemed a warrior beat him there. And the cat got a nasty scratch. “FishLeap! Are you okay?” he questioned, rushing up to the warrior, still alert and ready. He would’ve gotten the otter as quick as possible, however LavenderLeopard beat him to it. He just had to confirm this warrior was okay, then proceed in driving those damned otters out.
