Flower Picking [p]
[Hawkbite]
Enforcer Commander
Shadow Fiend | Agatha Kitty | Kitty Softpaws
The Commander approached the nursery. He'd been here often recently with Fishkit here and Nightshiver taking care of her and a few kits he'd met. He was starting to feel like they had some happy little family, but his bond with Nightshiver was... unspoken. Something always drew him back to her. She was the one cat that'd been around with him the longest. He could still recall their first meeting and how much the she-cat stood out to him. Who was he kidding, she still stood out in the crowd to him.
"Nightshiver?" Hawkbite would poke his head into the dimly lit den and call softly for the forever queen. "Nightshiver, if you can escape for a moment, I want to take you out on a stroll. Give you a moment away from the kittens," Hawkbite offered, a small smile crossing his lips as the words left him. That was another thing. Nightshiver never got addressed without a smile, Hawkbite subconsciously made sure of it.

Re: Flower Picking [p]
While many voices would startle the forever queen upon calling her name, Hawkbite was not one of them. Instead, her eyes squinted with an unspoken affection, a smile drawing on her face like second nature as she turned to face the commander;
"Hawkbite,"
She greeted, briefly whispering her goodbyes to a little one as joined his side with a dip of her head.
He always was quick to the point, and she did not mind it. His words were a pleasant offer, and though she held much anxiety in leaving the nursery unattended for too long, there was such a temptation in his offer that she couldn't deny. The little ones were calm at this moment, too, perhaps she could afford to leave just for a little while... Stars know, she wouldn't mind stretching her legs a little bit, perhaps, so after a few moments of contemplation she responded.
"That would... be.. lo..lovely."

Hawkbite smiled as Nightshiver accepted his offer. The Commander waited for her to join him before turning towards the camp entrance and taking her out into the territory. "I think we can both use a break," Hawkbite would eventually break the silence with an amused tone. "How've you been holding up?" Hawkbite inquired, glancing over at his companion.
The Commander would lead her steadily towards a trail he knew about. It wasn't one the warrior typically took for hunting or patrolling so it was a perfect getaway from the clan mania. As they entered the trail, the scenery quieted down and the scents were fresher. Flowers and untouched brush lined either side of the trail and the trees were filled with birds. The chirping was calming to listen to and the soft breeze that brought the sweet scents to him was a nice touch to everything. His gaze would settle warmly on Nightshiver, his fur brushing against her softly as they walked. "It's so pretty out here..." he'd speak, his gaze not wavering from her. Was there a double meaning to that? Perhaps...

Re: Flower Picking [p]
''I've been... alright. Th-the kittens.. keep me busy, but... I couldn't...couldn't ask for... a better position... in the clan. How about... you?''
Quiet paws carried her alongside her companion, words silently ringing around them as her memories watched over the many little ones she had seen come and go over the moons; hoping nothing would go amiss in her absence. But... She had to trust all would be well, that the other queens of the clan could watch over them like they would in moons past, that no kit would be finding their way out at this time. Nightshiver blinked slowly, letting Hawkbite guide her through the uncommon yet beautiful trail of the lands with blind trust, eyes wandering about the scenery with a certain serene expression as for once, she found herself feeling oddly calm and comfortable all at once.
''It is...''
She replied in gentle hum, trailing off the path by a few steps to trail her paw along the rims of a familiar looking flower, head turning towards the commander with a peaceful expression.
''These..these would.. make lovely... decorations. It is... a sh-shame... they wilt... so fast.''

Hawkbite would blink affectionately in her direction, sensing the worry coming from her. He could understand that. However, he knew with the Enforcers in the camp, everything would be okay. He could only assume she was thinking of the kittens she left there for a little bit. "I'm glad you find peace in your rank. There's no one better suited for the job in my opinion," Hawkbite mused, slowly leading them along the path.
He'd note her comment and pause next to some flowers. Studying their stems and the flowers themselves, he'd come up with a clever idea, giving Nightshiver that rare mischievous expression he did. "Beauty can be kept in the memories, too," Hawkbite spoke, nipping at the base of the stem on one of the flowers and turning to face her with the plant between his jaws.
Then, the Commander approached his companion, lifting his head slightly to reach the top of hers and placing the flower behind her ear. Taking a step back, he gave her a soft smile and tilted his head a little. "Look at that. A new beautiful memory to stash away forever," the tabby purred softly -- another rarity. "You can always bring some back for the kittens to play or make things out of, I'm sure they'd appreciate it," Hawkbite suggested, changing the subject quickly to avoid the lingering compliment he laid on her.
He'd wait for her to decide. They could always pick some on the way back to the camp. That would keep them the freshest in his mind. Seemed like the most logical thing to do.
