It wasn't often that Hawkbite got called to do kit lessons anymore, but Muddykit had approached him seeking intructions, so Hawkbite would honor it. He liked younger cats that were looking to learn and expand their thought process more. Those were the types of cats that he could look forward to making Enforcers in the future or maybe make it further in the ranks than he will.

"Muddykit!" Hawkbite would call into the nursery to summon the young cat. "Let's get your lesson going, alright?" The Commander would sit outside the nursery and let the kitten wake up or come out, whatever they needed to do to be ready.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!! She was finally going to get a lesson! She was so close to being an apprentice, she couldn't wait any longer to learn how to be a good warrior! Muddykit excitedly bounced out of the nursery, dutifully sitting and looking up at Hawkbite in anticipation.
"I'm ready!!" She mewed excitedly.

His whiskers would twitch with amusement before he'd gesture for the kitten to follow him. They'd only go towards the corner of camp where he could keep her away from distractions. Sitting back down and facing her, he'd clear his throat, making sure she was paying attention. "Ready to get to learning, kiddo?"
Once confirmed, Hawkbite would begin the lesson. It'd been a while since he'd taught a kit lesson, so hopefully he covers everything that is needed.

"One of the most important things to know about being an apprentice or warrior in this clan is that the leader's words are law. This is also one of the laws from the Warrior Code we follow. Whether you agree with the outcome or not, what Dawnstar says, goes. Same with the deputy, who is Mistlewhisker. There will be punishments if you decide not to listen or cooperate. We want to avoid those, right?"

As soon as Hawkbite began talking, Muddykit sat, curling her tail around her paws and patiently awaiting. As Hawkbite spoke, she nodded along, listening to every word he said like it was the most interesting lesson she was having.
"Yea! I didn't want to go against them, anyways!" She purred, smiling.

Good, she was listening. Well, at least he assumed she was. For all he knew, she could be zoning him out until the important questions came out.

"Now, within the clan, Dawnstar will call for meetings. One of these days, you'll be attending these meetings and there are some rules for it. When Dawnstar is speaking, you're to be quiet. Until she asks for input or summons you to the front, you sit quietly. Don't lay down, that's being rude. Just sit and listen. When she's not talking or we're waiting for her to talk between ceremonies, you can chat with your friends or whoever is around you," Hawkbite did a simple rundown.

"Outside of the clans, there's a big meeting with all the clans. It's called The Gathering. It happens once a moon and it's a good time to catch up with the other clans and see what's happening. At the Gathering, we're under a full-moon truce. That means, there's no fighting or quarreling allowed. StarClan can punish us for it and they have done it in the past," Hawkbite warned. The recent event with the boulder still sent shivers down his spine. It was not pleasant. "It's similar to the meetings where you sit and behave. You can mingle with the other clans, but you're supposed to be respectful and listen to the leaders talk when they do. Understand?"

"Ok, ok! So we gotta be polite during meetings and listen! I got it!" She purred and nodded, repeating what she had heard in a way that she could easily remember.
She listened carefully as Hawkbite spoke about the gathering. She has heard about it in the past, but only bits and pieces. "Whoa..." She breathed as she listened to Hawkbite's description.
"I- Yea I got it but, Uh, I gotta question!" She mewed after Hawkbite was done with the speech about the gathering. "So- so we're supposed to be loyal to our clan, but we're at peace durin the gathering, so can we make friends with other clan cats? And do we gotta fight them when it's not gathering time?" She asked, Muddykit wanted to understand as much as she could about this event, and what to do after it.

Oh, good. A kit that asked questions. This wasn't a sarcastic thought, Hawkbite genuinely liked the cats that wanted to learn. It set them up to be a great warrior in the future. Hawkbite took the moment to listen to Muddykit and let them process the information. "You can make friends and be friends at the Gathering. Those cats can be allies when the time comes to it, but," Hawkbite paused, emphasizing this next part so he didn't have to deal with the confusion later. "When we're at the borders or having to attack each other, those cats are NOT your friends anymore. If you have to fight for your clan, you have to put your clan over your friendships," Hawkbite concluded.

"Does that make sense?"

Muddykit's fur fluffed up a bit as the enforcer's tone became more harsh, before quickly calming down. Other than that, she was listening intently, nodding every so-often to make sure Hawkbite knew she was taking it all in.
"Yea, yea! I get it!" She mewed rather cheerfully, "So we can make friends n' stuff, but our clan comes before those friends" Muddykit repeated back.
"It's like putting your family before your friends!" She added, comparing the two partly to help her understand, and partly to show off how much she knew about this already.

Hawkbite would nod towards the kitten. A small smile forming on his lips, again. "You're very clever, you know that? That's exactly what it's like," Hawkbite praised. "The Warrior Code always comes first, but your family or your clan are just as important. Take care of them and they'll take care of you, understand?" he'd inquire.

Quietly, Hawkbite would wait for Muddykit to process before he'd start rounding up the lesson. "Aside from that, there's not much else to discuss. Those are the basic etiquette rules. Everything else is in the Warrior Code, which will be taught to you if it hasn't already. Any questions about anything?"
