Was it not enough to simply walk away, to leave this story for the caves alone to know? Well… except the part about traversing the tunnels; that would be passed on to as many cats as the warrior could make hear it. The less than elegant parts of this story, though, seemed better dropped and left in the dust.
All the sweet relief the safe return to open ground gave her was beginning to ebb, the she-cat becoming increasingly edgy over the potential camp outcomes in spite of her momentary, surprising realization deep in the tunnels. It was easier said than done to abandon all pettiness while in such a personally terrifying situation, quite especially for Driftbreeze, now that she was faced with perceived idiocy once more. A cat that lived off of self-image would need more than one slap in the face to change that much, it seemed.
The warrior’s face screwed up into a grimace, “What, pray tell, gave you the impression I want to do anything of the sort with you?” the lilac cat snapped, seeming, though, to restrain herself the moment after. With a tight exhale and forced calm, Driftbreeze rescinded the snark before Quietclaw could get a word in. “Look; your apology and self-awareness is appreciated, and you did help. As I said.” The mention of her own apology seemed especially difficult to word, the feline not necessarily wanting to make much of it. “I’m… grateful, especially that you have the sense to commit and keep this quiet, but I have had quite the eventful day- as you clearly know- and I would rather let bygones be bygones than go into… business.” The amount of strain it took for the she-cat to keep her words slightly polite was astronomical, biting back every spitting retort she could think of before they could slip out. And StarClan, there were quite a lot.
Clamping her mouth shut and looking down at the other cat with a befuddling mix of reticence and annoyance, she dragged her gaze away and began to stalk off.

Frostfeather decided to go ahead with a more advanced fishing technique. She turned towards Amberpaw as she sat down.

“So this move is used in the waters of the lake, it’s also possible to do this in the deeper parts of the river. We are going to practice in the river for now simply to get the form down and later we will move to the lake to work on depth. Diving is meant to be used to catch fish deep under but it’s also a skill we can use in future attacks. We’ll touch on that next time we work on battle moves.”

Frostfeather laid down on her belly and brought her paws together in front of her, keeping her front legs touching. She bent her head down and nestled it right beneath her shoulders, her forehead touching the ground. She held the position for a few seconds before lifting her head and giving it a quick shake to remove any dirt.

“That’s the form the front part of your body will hold,” she explained.

“Your hind legs will be doing all the jump, and we’ll go over that in a second. Go ahead and copy the move I just did on the ground.”

She patted the spot next to her with her tail.

She nodded, doing her best to copy the move. It wasn’t complicated, and she brought her paws together quickly, even if it felt kinda weird. She bent her head down, held it for a bit, although a bit less time then Frostfeather, and lifted her head up. “Like that?”

“Yes that’s it. Remember that technique for laters, now get to your paws and show me an arched jump. By that I mean hop high into the air like a pounce but arch your back and put your weight forward. On land such a jump will usually make you roll forward, so expect that. In water, this is the type of jump we want for our dive. Go ahead and try it after me.”

She got to her paws and crouched down. After a second of readjusting she punched high into the air, her form creating almost a crescent shape in the air. She landed on her front paws and rolled forwards. After getting back to her feet she flicked her ear as a sign for Amberpaw to try.

“After this we will combine the two moves and try them in the water.” She declared.

She let her tail brush off a some dirt off of Amberpaw’s shoulders.

“Reguardless of the landing, your form was good! I promise that in the water things will go a lot more smoothly. Why don’t we try it in the river now.”

She waited for Amberpaw to get to her paws.

Frostfeather gave her apprentice a concerned look and nodded. She settled besides the apprentice and gave her another look over.

“Does anything hurt?” She asked.

She shook herself off. “Well, besides my everything? No. I mostly got the wind knocked out of me, although I got pretty lucky not getting scratched up there. Sorry, I should have payed more attention.” She sat down next to Frostfeather.

Frostfeather gave her a gentle smile.

“Don’t worry, not everyone gets everything the first try, even the mightiest warriors make mistakes.”

She started giving her ears a clean while she enjoyed the momentary silence between them.

“Have you yet considered what warrior name you would like for when the time comes?” She asked
