Wildstorm's ears flattened slowly and his tail swayed as he grinned."Yeah, but maybe we need to take a higher n' more threatenin' approach towards the other clans!" He chuckled at his idea.
Breath In. Breath Out. Cheer for the new apprentices. Do not think about how it wasn't that long ago that Berryfrost was one. Pay attention to the meeting. Be grateful that Twilightstar assigned Batglare to lead the patrol. Hear the arguing. Feel the rage bubbling up. Tired. Frustrated. They're not listening.
Anger.
Poppysong first. Fur bristling, yellow-amber eyes blazing in anger, Fallownose whirls on his Clanmate with his teeth bared in fury. "You want to play? Let's play. Since you clearly don't have ears, let me repeat what I Leechscar just said. Twilightstar ordered the patrol NOT to kill anyone. You want to talk to RiverClan after one of their leaders brutally killed her unprovoked. Now, they continue to trespass on our territory. Twilightstar told Larkstar to control her warriors at the last Gathering. Now, they've destroyed and stolen our herbs. Do you want us to nicely ask that Larkstar please return them because we really need them? No. Twilightstar has died multiple times to keep the peace, and here you are, afraid to even get into a skirmish. I wouldn't trust you to watch in my back as far as I can spit. Now you shut up, or GET THE HELL OUT."
Idiots. They were all. Damn. IDIOTS. And Gingersplash was next.
"You!" he seethed, turning on the warrior who had dared to bring him into the discussion. "I didn't realize that you were in charge of who was allowed to talk. Why don't you GET YOUR OWN TAIL OUT OF YOUR EARS?! RiverClan has killed Twilightstar, trespassed multiple times, and is stealing our herbs. You know what they're gonna do next if we don't do anything? Take our territory, and then they'll take OUR CAMP. Clearly you don't give a damn about the queens and kits if you're willing to sit back and let them do as they please. If you think so little of the warriors in this Clan that we wouldn't fight tooth and claw until we no longer could to protect those who can't fight if RiverClan were to attack, then you can also get the hell out and become a kittypet. WindClan does not need you or want you." Fallownose spits furiously.
He wasn't done. And unluckily for Softsong, she happened to say the stupidest piece of rabbit-dung he had heard this meeting. "Softsong, pull your stars-damned head OUT OF YOUR ASS. I don't know where you've been when Spiderthroat killed two of our warriors because they insulted ThunderClan on a border patrol. And that he ambushed Scorchedfang while he was training his apprentice, Mousepaw, and murdered Mousepaw for no reason. And Bumblestar's response at the Gathering? 'Oh yea he was wrong, but whatever, he's my deputy now. Stay away unless you want it to happen again'. If you want to be all buddy buddy with ThunderClan after one of their cat murders our own, including an untrained apprentice in an ambush, and gets promoted to deputy, then GO JOIN THEM. You disgust me."
And then, because why not, Azaleashine just had to start getting. Life could not be worse. With a huff, Fallownose sat down, glaring around as if daring anyone to try and contradict him.

WindClan Warrior - She / Her
_____________
Gingersplash's ears flattened, her sky-blue eyes wide with fear that hardened to hate.
''Get my tail out of my ears?'' The dilute tortoiseshell snapped.
The warrior's head snapped around when she heard Azaleashine's yowl of pain. The queen lay on her side on the ground, panting heavily.
Gingersplash turned back to Fallownose, tail tip twitching. She gritted her teeth and gave a low growl.
''Let's not argue and focus on Azaleashine,'' The she-cat dug her claws into the soft earth beneath her.
''That yowl of hers was filled with pain. Pay attention to how close the queens are to kitting and how old the elders are getting, then you'll see my point.''
Without hesitation after her words spoke, Gingersplash whirled around and bounded towards the pained queen, wrapping her tail around Azaleashine's shoulders.
''Shh, you'll be okay,'' Gingersplash murmured. Her voice had gone from angry to comforting in a matter of a few seconds. The warrior leaned down and gave Azaleashine's ear a comforting lick.

Softsong's hackles raised. Leave it to a deputy to misconstrue her words. "And where were you when ShadowClan was slaughtering us just as indiscriminately, Fallownose? It wasn't so long ago," she spat. "I have no issue with launching an attack on those fox-hearts, but I won't stand alongside ShadowClan to do it - they're just as fox-hearted as the rest of them, and fickle as well. As I said - if WindClan stands against ThunderClan, we should do it with our own warriors, our own strength. At least we can trust each other not to slit our throats when our back is turned. I don't trust a ShadowClan cat as far as I can throw them."
Softsong threw a glance to the kitting queen, but what was she supposed to do, help the little things out? Cowtuft had his job and she had hers.
Breezefire watched her clanmates bicker with a raspy sigh. The elderly she glanced over at Azaleashine and shook her head. So many kits being born this leafbare, the threat of an attack from riverclan, and here it was, the cats of windclan looking as though they would tear themselves apart from the inside before something else could.
She looked down at her paws, digging her claws into the ground beneath her. The fur along her spine bristled as she looked up at the sky, if a raid on her clan was to take place, she was ready to defend herself and whoever she could till her dying breath, even if she was retired.

Well, it seemed that in the time she had been trapped and fighting for her life, WindClan had turned into a bunch of furry belly-up bunnies. Irritation flashed through her as Bravebird caught what Poppysong said, claws itching to smack the younger warrior across the head. What the hell was a warrior vow worth if she didn't want any part in violence? Had she missed the part where she promised to lay down her life for her Clan if necessary?
Then came Leechscar, and Bravebird found herself agreeing with what he spoke of, though her fur bristled a bit as he seemed to slide an underpawed comment about those who had demanded to go on the patrol. Whether she was on it or not, Bravebird's claws would be covered in RiverClan blood one way or another. But that was ignored as the quarrel continued, and the large tom spoke of RiverClan - slaughtering Twilightstar? When she had gone to talk??
...Yeah, Brave was going to make the rivers run red.
A retort bubbled in her throat as she got to her paws, touching her tail to her mother's side as an indication she would be right back. But any words were lost in her throat when a familiar voice spoke from the back. Fallownose. Blue eyes widened in concern as she took in his ratted state - the grief that hung over him like a second pelt, lit on fire at the ends by anger.
Immediately the fighting was forgotten, concern for her friend evident in her expression. With a soft murmur to her mother, Bravebird crossed to the back but not before shooting Poppysong a furious glare, then looking to Softsong as if she were seconds away from biting her ears off. "He was fighting for his Clan, you hare-brained wannabe warrior. Get your ears checked before I drag you out of this camp by them." Venom dripped from her words, the threat dangerous and very, very real.
There was more she wanted to say, more insults she wanted to spit in the face of cats she had once thought good, solid Clanmates if the patrol they had been on meant anything. But that was long gone and she didn't trust either of them as far as she could throw them - Gingersplash was a whole other thing. "He's not arguing, dung beetle. I'll show you a real yowl of pain if you continue to spout nonsense."
And that was the last little bit before she reached Fallownose, turning her head towards him. Worry was written everywhere - in her eyes, in the way her whiskers twitched in question. She didn't want to poke or prod though - she knew a strong, silent type more than most. Instead Bravebird simply took a seat beside her friend, pelt brushing his for comfort, and let her tail fall on his back. "You're the best damn deputy this Clan has ever had," she muttered so that only he could ear while looking up to Twilightstar, "don't let the rabbit-droppings muck up your path."

Softsong's tail lashed. "The same thing I'm doing right now - fighting for WindClan!"Wannabe warrior - as if Softsong hadn't been the first cat to volunteer for the RiverClan patrol! What was Bravebird getting so defensive about, when she'd done nothing but defend herself against Fallownose's needless misinterpretation of her words? As if she'd get accused of cuddling up to ThunderClan and take it lying down.
"He's the one who needs his ears checked, accusing me of one thing when I said another. We're on the same side! I'd love nothing more than to put those ThunderClan mouse-hearts in their place. I would happily shred Spiderthroat myself. But it would be foolish to do it alongside ShadowClan, who will be lying in wait to attack us from behind as soon as we're done. WindClan doesn't need their aid to fight our battles."
Beetlecrest observed the chaos trying to not laugh at Wildstorm's antics. He was also keeping his cool, despite the stupidity of the situation. I'm surrounded by idiots, arent I? At least some cats were tolerable, like Leechscar or Wildstorm, and not total dumbasses like majority of the screaming babies who called themselves "warriors".

"Enough!"
The calico's voice reverberated through the clearing, a storm brewing clearly in her eyes as the cacophonous chaos before her continued to unravel deeper and deeper. It would never cease to amaze her just how pathetically self absorbed the cats of WindClan could be. Gingersplash was being a particularly fantastic example of this with her viciously hypocritical views and slandering words. Not only was she being nothing more than noise to be absorbed into a vacuum of festering narcissism, she was getting in the way. Lightningstorm could care less about what the clan politics being discussed right now were. She had a patient who had idiotically come into the meeting as she was about to give birth. This didn't just happen, either. She would have started to feel pangs and contractions signaling the approaching birth. Which meant only one thing... This cat wanted to thrive under some form of attention seeking spectacle... and endanger her unborn kittens in the process.
The thought alone was enough to make her sick with anger. Couldn't she wait until they had at least opened their eyes before she started using them for her own vapid needs? Long tail lashed with anger as the minute lass moved through the clearing, dark legs swift and confident as she approached the queen. Giving Azaleashine an appraising look, she nodded, realizing there was at least still time to move her to the nursery for the birth of her kits before she was forced to have them remain in the medicine den for a moon, the danger of such a young, vulnerable life potentially exposed to the deadly illness that was killing their clanmates too high to let them further contaminate the nursery. She ignored the pleas to find help the queen had sent for, assuming she was simply to self absorbed to realize there were plenty of cats surrounding her and no one had to be called for in the first place. Instead, she turned to Dapplebreeze and Snowybreeze, one looking ready to strike at the next cat who dared say... well... anything, and the other a useless lump of fur. They would have to do for now.
"Dapplebreeze. Snowybreeze. I need you two to go get Azaleashine to the nursery. I hardly think I need to explain the risks of kitting in a wide open clearing where hawks and illness would love nothing more than a newborn to sink their talons into, do I?" she asked, her voice eerily calm, clashing with the raging passion emanating from her lapis blue hues.
"Azaleashine, go with them. Dapplebreeze has been a queen to multiple litters. She'll have much more personal experience on how to help you than me, and I want to look for some herbs to make this easier for you. As for you," Lightningstorm snarled, her stare turning hard, flashing dangerously in the direction of the rambling warrior. "Yes! Get the bloody tail out of your ears. I understand it's hard to understand with it still clogging up that brain of yours, love, but do try to keep up. Azaleashine is my patient. Not yours. And frankly, you are doing nothing but getting in my way. You want to stop talking out of your arse and show that you care for a proper second? You got it! Firestorm!" the calico called out, her gaze flitting over towards the tabby she had just been sitting besides a moment ago. "Take Gingersplash out to Twilight Falls. I am going to need moss and burnet. Some borage would be useful too."
Taking a deep breath, the calico healer shook herself before staring around the clearing, suddenly very aware of the fact that she had stepped into the fray without a second thought at the sight of a patient in need... again. Still... no use crying over decisions that she would once again repeat if given the chance to do so. Instead, she puffed her chest, throwing a challenging glare at those whom she had spoken to. Gingersplash in particular. She had no time to waste with useless prattle when there were lives at stake.
"Now... I trust there are no more questions. Get moving, and we might just get these kits into the nursery and safe before they are born. Snowybreeze, carry her if you must," Lightningstorm added, throwing an added, poignant stare at the colossal tom before turning to the medicine cat's den to get the tools she needed for the task at paw.
@Dark [Firestorm] | @paris [Azaleashine - Gingersplash]
| Azaleashine should still be able to move towards the nursery as it is close and her contractions seem to have just started - kits don't just cannon out of cats like rockets to my experience - so if you want to have her move with Snowybreeze and Dapplebreeze as encouragement, feel free to have her next post be in the nursery. If not, Snowybreeze will carry her as gently as he can to have her kits there. If she rockets the kits in the meeting, the kits will be quarantined for a moon - in real time - to confirm no plague has befallen them! |
