Sunlight shown through the leaves, dappling the ground. Below the trees, a dark tabby tom prowled through the broken shadows, footsteps light and ears alert for any birds that happen to be around. A solo hunt seemed nice today, although he knew he should really travel with a clanmate considering everything happening between the clans.

A green gaze settled on a sparrow setting on the ground, pecking away at the cold ground. It was distracted, and now the tabby was too.

The large she-cat padded, alert, through the territory. Soon the large smokey she-cats amber gaze found a sparrow pecking away at the ground. Getting into a hunters crouch the she-cat got ready to pounce when she spotted another cat on the other side of the bird. They seemed distracted, with an agitated growl almost alerting the bird but luckily she didn't as she quickly lept on the bird crushing it beneath a large paw, notifying the other cat of her arrival.

A surprised breath escaped the tabby tom before he lifted himself from the ground. His green eyes narrowed in on the warrior that crushed the sparrow, frustrated flames flickering within them. "Lucky pounce," Pineclaw half mumbled to the warrior. His tail tip was twitching with agitation as he did a once over on the feline before him.

"You won't be stealing my prey next time though, I'll be sure of that," his voice had a hint of a threat behind them. He could feel the heat of frustration rising in his chest but kept a collected outlook.

The large she-cat looked down at the tom with a shrug as her tail twitched slightly. "All I did was take the kill you weren't paying attention to, it's better than letting it fly away" the she-cat mewed bluntly as she placed the bird in front of Pineclaw. It's neck and wings were angled weirdly where the bones had snapped, but other than that it looked to be clean kill. "If it makes you feel better take it, I can always catch more, that's why I'm out here to hunt" The she-cat mewed plainly. She'd come out here to hunt for the clan and that's what she intended to do, if she hadn't been there the bird would of surely flown off and that's less prey on the pile.

A scoff left Pineclaw next, an eye roll to follow. "I was going to spring onto it before you showed up. Besides, I don't want your bird, I have better prey to catch," the tom lifted a paw and pushed the sparrow back towards the warrior.

A new light flickered into his eyes and a smirk showed up on his face. "I have more to catch than you actually," there was a challenge in his voice. The thought of hunting with someone didn't sound so bad, especially with the conflict at the borders. Perhaps she'd catch on to this hunting challenge?

"Pineclaws the name," he finally introducted himself.

The large she-cat let a mischievous smile play on her face for a few seconds before it quickly vanished with a low scoff. "Suit yourself, if that's how you want to play it" the she-cat mewed plainly taking the sparrow and burring it beneath dirt and pine needles.

The dark she-cats ears twitched hears Pineclaw speak again. "More? I doubt that, but if it's challenge you want it's a challenge you'll get" the she-cat mewed. "Whoever catches the most wins." She added letting mischievous back onto her face. Hunting another wouldn't be so bad and on top of that the clan needs the prey.

"Lostfire" She mewed her name after hearing his own introduction with curt nod.

His brows raised with interest now, a mischievous playing on his face. "Oh, I love a good challenge, hopefully you make it worthwhile," he spoke with a cocky tone. Pineclaw was very confident in his hunting abilities, there was no way this she-cat was going to out hunt him!

"Most prey by sun-high wins," the warrior spoke, eyes motioning up to the sun that was between sunrise and sun-high. That gave the warriors a couple hours to hunt.

"Loser has to go roll in the cold swampy ground!"

The large she-cat nodded in agreement before she said two words "Let's start." she mewed plainly as she walked off without another word. Her nose twitched and ears perked as she immediately started the search for nearby prey.

The tabby tom trotted in the opposite direction; his ears were erect for any signs of life. With the time of year, there was only really squirrels or birds. Occasionally he'd catch a mouse wandering too far from its burrow.

Just going to timeskip to save the hunting process, if you're alright with that

By the time the sun was above their heads, Pineclaw was uncovering his stash of prey left where he last saw Lostfire. The hunting wasn't great, he came up with 3 birds. Anxiety crept up his spine. Having no idea what Lostfire was able to catch, he found himself pacing while he waited.

The fluffy she-cat noticed the Sun going down as she was fixing to pounce on the prey she'd spotted not long ago. Pouncing on the squirrel that was digging in the ground. The she-cat picked up the squirrel taking it to wear she'd burred her prey. Digging up the morals the large she-cat had buried her prey closer to where she'd been hunting she picked all of it up.in her jaw carefully carrying it towards Pineclaw. She had caught a few squirrels and birds as well as a rabbit that probably strayed from the moor. Once she reached Pineclaw she dropped the prey with a small nod.
