Okay. So. Today absolutely sucked. Gracklpaw had disappeared from the face of the earth, which was (KEEP IT A SECRET!!!) her worst nightmare besides him dying in some absolutely horrible way and she wouldn't be able to save him like a good warrior should. So yeah, today sucked. Like, really really sucked. Magpiepaw was nearly a warrior, a fully made warrior, and yet she felt grief and fear overcome her like she had a second pelt of icy snow. What if he had died? Where the heck did he even go? Why had he gone? She still had so many pranks to pull on him, some to pull with him. Gone. All gone. Just like baba, just like mammy. Lost to whatever the world had in store for them. So yeah, Magpiepaw wasn't feeling it, she wasn't even angry, just overwhelmed and sad and scared.
The small she-cat paced the clearing, her fur spiked up this way and that as her eyes darted to and fro. Her long tail lashed impatiently behind her, her head looking up after every three paces just to look at the exit of the clearing, wondering if Gracklpaw would suddenly burst out of there and be all like, "Surprise! Haha, I sure got you! It was just a really extreme game of hide and go seek, I'm totally not dead or severely injured." But Magpiepaw knew Gracklepaw well enough to know that he wouldn't pull a stunt as insensitive as that, Magpiepaw wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy (AHEM, QUIETPAW, THE RAT!).
Her paw pads had gotten all sore from pacing so much, but Magpiepaw kept pumping her stubby legs as far as they could go. Maybe if she tried hard enough... Things would just happen for her. Ugh.... 'maybes'. She hated them, she despised them. She didn't want a maybe, she wanted to be sure, ABSOLUTELY sure. And 'maybes' don't cut it. A maybe won't bring Gracklpaw back home.

Yellowtwist was pretty bored. Or so he thought! Why, there was a short apprentice to laugh at! better not lose his position though, r. i. p. yellowtwist cause of death: he'd be fired if he laughed at short people.

With his eyes half opened, Palekit stumbles into camp clearing trying to find something to do. There's only half a moon before Palekit turns 6 moons old and the little furball was getting a little too big and loud for the nursery. Despite Palekit having a soft voice, his non stop chattering and questions is probably loud enough to drive Nightshiver and the rest of the queens insane. Outside of pestering the warriors and apprentices of ShadowClan about the outside world, Palekit is lacking the activity to do. After moons of pouncing around the camp, Palekit has surely memorized the whole camp's layout. His explorations already led him to ventured to every nook and cranny ShadowClan camp had to offer.
There was no where to go in camp and it seemed like everyone was busy one way or the other. Palekit's mind drifted off while staring at the little ants on the ground. His pale blue eyes followed the little ants slowly to the entrance of their home. 'They must be carrying food back home...'
Palekit can't wait for the day he's able to go out and bring back prey for his clan. He's sure he'll become a great hunter one day and be able to bring lots of prey back. Before he can do all that, he'd have to learn.
Every day he's stuck in camp is another day he wishes he was a warrior already. Not being able to leave without an escort was... Annoying. He understood why the rule was in place. The clan's safety was of utmost importance. But if he were a warrior then badgering another warrior to go out on a patrol with him wouldn't feel like a kit begging their mother to leave the nursery.
Which is what he assumes he's stumbled upon. The smaller tom had to be a kit considering the fact that he had never seen him in the apprentice's den before. A little older, though, so maybe that would change soon. Approaching the light-furred kit, he tilts his head at him, watching whatever he was watching... Which were ants? Huh. Life must be even more boring for a kit. Maybe he should be a bit more thankful he was no longer bound to the nursery.

Gutspaw stares unrelenting at Mistlewhisker, blinking slowly and out-of-sync. Whether or not this was on purpose was its secret. There was silence, a curiosity that burned inside its chest to see if the deputy would take its suggestion. A blank stare, void of a tell. At least until she spoke again, confirming the fact she would not be putting the rock inside her eye socket.
If there was a glint of disappointment in bite's eyes it quickly vanished at the gratitude and compliment. It wasn't as if the apprentice sought praise, no, never. Teeth relied on itself and only itself. Still, strangely it filled them with a feeling of nausea but - positive, it thought. Maybe.
Gutspaw's tail wrapped tighter around its body, gaze averting as if whatever confidence it had was beginning to drain. As with everything positive, everything good, it only made the feeling emptiness in its chest stronger. A missing piece it could not pinpoint for the life of bite.
It takes a moment for the apprentice to snap, accidentally drifting and leaving an awkward stretch of silence. "O - oh, uhm, y, yeah I guess? I just like, " Gutspaw shrugged its shoulders, "stuff, " before standing to its paws. Riight. Well. It got rid of a rock like teeth wanted. Plus, Mistlewhisker seemed happy.
Clearing its throat, it took a small step back. Perhaps it felt vulnerable, that might explained partially. "Anyywhhhoo, that was uh, it?" Right, time to leave. Go, go. Go.

The apprentice stays focused on braiding until a sniffle catches its attention and gradually bite's gaze meets up to stare at the soggy-looking warrior. A sharp intake of breath and regret fills Gutspaw. Less regarding the fact it had supposedly upset Squirrelrise — that had been a risk teeth had taken — but crying was always awkward. It was far from being a cat to comfort, but Goopywhisker (wherever he was) would certainly be less than pleased. Gutspaw, again, could care less what its idiotic brother thought but it was more trouble than it was worth.
Still, she looked like the most saddest, wettest, pathetic cat in the world. Like someone had taken her favorite rock. It was the type of pathetic you couldn't help but want to give her said rock back to just make it stop. To Gutspaw's relief, she seems to grab ahold of herself. It resumed braiding, unaware that bite's movements had paused for a beat.
If Squirrelrise's reaction didn't answer teeth's question already she certainly confirmed it. Huh. Mistlewhisker was her Mama. Weird. It could imagine it, though. With a half shrug, "Guess that's somethin' we have in common, " it responded, before its face scrunched up. "Not the Mistlemom part, 'course. " Gutspaw's voice was flat, indifferent. A part of itself chimed in that Squirrelrise was lucky but it was quickly silenced. It didn't want parents. They would only lecture, complain, and nag.
Scratch all those thoughts. Literally. It paused, one paw scratching the soil once, twice, thrice. Reset.
Anyway, the apprentice was totally right. She was so going to try and get them a few feathers. Why??
It stares at Squirrelrise, erhg. Gratitude. Weird. Weiird. She's looking at it with the biggest smile and it doesn't seem fitting to be flashed at bite. "Not really, it isn't that hard. I could probably teach you, " Gutspaw dismissed, not quite realizing what it had offered until a few seconds later. Oh, abyss damn it. Its damn mouth and blurting crap out. Escape time!
"You don't need to. I just did it 'cuz I wanted to, " It pointed out, a yawn - perhaps a wee bit exaggerated but really, the feline was beginning to tire - escape from teeth's maw.
"Anyywho, you're welcome. Think I'm gonna catch a snooze, see ya Squirrels, " Teeth meowed, turning to grab ahold of its now decorated nest and drag it back into the apprentice's den.
