Sorreldust led Oriolepaw to Sunkissed Creek, staying mostly quiet for their journey.
She hadn't expected to be on a patrol, but when the black and ginger tom had approached her after his patrol didn't show up (or was it that they had chosen not to go? She couldn't remember, it still annoyed her), there was no way she'd leave the apprentice to scramble for someone to accompany him.
Once the tell tale landmarks signified the two were close, she slowed her pace. Turning to the apprentice, her tail swished once. "We are close to the Creek. I wanted to ask your preference on what we hunt. The area is good for land prey, but there is also some minnows around this time. They seem to like colder waters. Or, we can try our luck in the trees for some birds."
She kind of hoped he chose something other than land prey, but she wouldn't complain if it was what he preferred.
Oriolepaw was relieved that Sorreldust was able to join him for this patrol. Not being able to leave camp alone was getting increasingly frustrating; he couldn't stand still being an apprentice at this age.
When they arrived, he was surprised to hear Sorreldust asking for his preference. Since she was the warrior, he figured she'd choose. Still, he certainly wouldn't complain.
Somewhat uncertain, he suggested, "Why don't we take a shot at catching some minnows? I've never fished before, but it might be fun!"
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted Ghostflake looking around several tail-lengths away. Feeling annoyance - a rather foreign feeling for the young tom - prickle his pelt, he called over to him in a sharp tone. "Hey, Ghostflake! Over here. I found someone else to take me, since you just disappeared."

Oriolepaw laughed. Flameheart had been scared of the water? That was hard for him to believe. He hadn't really known Flameheart too well until she became a warrior, so the idea of her being scared of anything was very odd to him.
"I won't tell her you told me," he promised. "Did you actually like getting your paws wet?" Somehow, the idea of any ThunderClan cat purposefully getting their paws wet was not one that Oriolepaw believed too readily.
Oriolepaw's genuine laughter brought another smile to Sootfur's face. He chuckled, too, relishing in the simplicity of the moment and the peace of this place. "Thank you." He replied with a grin on his muzzle, whiskers twitching in amusement. This apprentice was sure fun! But then, he remembered Crowpaw and felt guilty for having enjoyed more spending time with Oriolepaw than with his own apprentice.
He looked at his paws for a brief moment, half-closed eyes as he pictured the brown tabby with his usual sullen expression. Maybe I should bring him here? We could... fish, maybe. It would be probably a new thing for him. It could do him well... to distract for a while.
His attention was brought back to reality at Oriolepaw's reply. Uh?"Oh, thanks, Oriolepaw." He offered him a tiny, grateful smile. "Flameheart would deny it, ahah..." But he was also sure it would bring her cheerfulness for the memory.
"Yes, it was really fun. You see... It was a very hot green-leaf, and everyone needed to refresh. I used to splash her, and as we played more in the water she became more confident and forgot all her previous doubts." He was pretty sure that memory was the best in all his apprenticeship. "Oh, and don't forget that now she knows how to get fish. So she's gotten a pretty long way from there!" He commented with an amused expression-

Sorreldust's eyes flicked over to Ghostflake as they showed up. Wasn't this one of the warrior that had been supposed to be on this patrol with Oriolepaw.
She lashed her tail but turned her attention back to the apprentice as he spoke. "Minnows tend to group together. They're skittish, but don't seem to have the best sight."
She gestured Oriolepaw to follow her as she looked over to the Creek.
It was warmer today than most days, so even if they got water in their pelt, I wouldn't be too uncomfortable.
She huffed as Oriolepaw addressed Ghostflake, and turned to face the other warrior. "Do you want it to remain just us or do you wish to invite Ghostflake to re-join your patrol?"
If the ginger and black apprentice didn't want the warrior joining them, she wouldn't blame him.

"Yes it is, because they have easy access. This is a good territory for us to have though so we have to keep it. Notice how strong the prey scent is around here." Hailhawk remarked.
The Siamese scented the air at Hailhawk's remark and did indeed smell prey. Her paws itched to stop and hunt, but she wanted to get the tour done and instead turned and headed deeper into ThunderClan territroy. The fish-faces were lucky that she didn't decide to stay!
Hazelpaw skidded to a stop, her paws sliding over the mud as she came upon a flowing creek. The apprentice barely managed to avoid tumbling into it, her fur spiked in alarm. "Woah! I didn't know we had a creek in our territory!" she exclaimed after she had regained her footing.

"Yeah we're not riverclan but we have some running water." Hailhawk told her, chuckling a bit as she nearly slid in. "Careful on the mud." He warned, after she'd already slipped though

It seemed that Ghostflake wasn’t particularly interested in re-joining their patrol, so Oriolepaw simply shook his head and turned his attention to the creek.
Keeping Sorreldust’s words in mind, his green eyes searched for a cluster of minnows. He soon found one, flitting around in a more active part of the creek. They were rather fascinating; briefly, he wondered what it would be like to be a fish.
Taking a couple moments to study their movement patterns, he soon lashed a paw into the water. It was a bit sloppy, but his claws managed to snag a couple small minnows. The rest scattered like leaves in the wind, seeking shelter under rocks and further downstream.
Yanking the two minnows he’d caught out of the water, he slapped them on the ground. He wasn’t entirely sure how to kill minnows, but smacking them on the ground seemed to do the trick. The two little fish stilled.
He turned a bright face on Sorreldust, wondering if his patrolmate would attempt the same thing. Surely a warrior would be able to catch more fish at once!
( If you want, Sorreldust can make a catch in the next post so we can wrap this up. This patrol is due on the 26th. I apologize for the delay in response )

Sorreldust rolled her eyes at Ghostflake and followed after Oriolepaw, turning her back on the other warrior with a flick of her tail.
She let the apprentice try his paw at fishing, watching carefully as he yanked the fish out of their watery home. She kept herself from laughing as he smacked the small fish in the head to mercifully end them.
Now that he was done, she slunk around the sides of the creek, looking for a new group of minnows near a stone to trap them between, keeping to the shadowed portions of the water.
Once a sizable group of fish was found, she waited, watching. Then she flashed her paw forward, throwing 3 fish out of the water and as quickly as possible, ducked her head after the remaining minnows, only managing to catch one by the tail.
She dropped this minnow with the others, and sliced her claws into the fish's head, piercing the skull.
One of her fish, however, had wriggled about enough to escape back into the creek.
Her ear flicked and whiskers twitched in irritation, but picked her 3 fish up and trotted back over Oriolepaw. "Ready to go back home?"
Spikystalker walked slowly through the woods towards the creek, glancing behind him to make sure Burntpaw was still in sight "Welcome to the Creek. i Figured a Little Fishing would be good in this weather, that is of course if you know how to fish? if not we can find something else to hunt"
