He got to his feet and looked up at the darkening sky.

“Come on we should probably head back, I’m sure both our mentors are wondering where we are. And if they ask I’m blaming you.”

Rookpaw was even more surprised now. Half of her heart was warmed up by the gesture. Despite, or perhaps because of the harshness his words held, she felt their sincerity. The other half was somewhat mad because it felt like him being the more mature cat of the situation and admitting he was wrong meant he had one-upped her. She Rose to her paws. Her pelt was rather dirty, she'd ha enough to wash later. He did have a point about going back though.
"OK, let's go back. If you do blame me I'll tell them you were spineless enough to follow the lead if a newbie apprentice." she retorted mischievously and followed.

“Oh right, sorry Finchwhisker but that young newbie ran of into the forest all by herself. I couldn’t let her just go alone, someone had to protect her.” He stated dryly while giving her a smirk.

He did actually hope that Finchwhisker wasn’t mad at him being gone all day. Or even worse, he hope Dawnstar wouldn’t be suspicious.

“You-!” Was all Finchpaw managed to say before Rookpaw took off. He took off after her, knowing that most likely he wouldn’t be able to catch up.

Viper was talking with Dawnstar when he heard a bunny he knew call his old name. He turned on her and hissed. "Tresspasser." He growled.
