Downpour [RiverClan Flood Event]

The small ragdoll was struggling immensely in the water, tears streaming down her face but determined to try and find Kes. She wasn't going to leave without Kes. Or at least that had been the plan. She let out a muffled wheeze of panic as someone approached, relaxing when she recognized Gingerfrost. He grabbed her scruff, and she complied, letting him pulling her to where the water was less dangerous. Her paws hit the water again, and the blue mitted ragdoll blinked up at him again, panic flooding her expression. "T-thanks." She mumbled, briefly leaning into her mentor with a shuddering sigh, hopefully pressing her cheek against his shoulder in an affectionate thanks, before pulling back as she heard her name screamed.

"Kes?" Her panicked, confused movements almost sent her into a frantic episode, but luckily she saw the younger apprentice come splashing over. She met the tabby in a tight embrace, hopefully pressing her face into Kestrelpaws chest briefly, then looking up to gently dab at the blood. Oh god. Kes's eye. "It's okay... You're okay? And you're okay?" She glanced at Gingerfrost to make sure her mentor wasn't hurt or drowning or anything, then turned her head to find the exit. The gravity of the situation hit before survival instinct came in, and she let our a soft, silent gasp.

 

Memories of toppling into the water, watching the fox turn on her grandpa. Memories of fighting through the freezing, deadly water. The hopelessness. Her breath was coming fast, and she pressed a paw over her mouth to hide her despair and quick, aggressive breaths. Dad, please be safe. Please don't get caught in this. Her legs shook slightly, and tears poured down her face, which if asked she would shakily excuse them as raindrops. Once her breath was steady and her head was cleared as it could, she looked back at the two.

"W-we gotta go. Follow um... We need to get to high ground. Out of water." She choked out, turning to the two. Obviously that had already occurred the two, but she felt the need to voice it. Just because.

Mistfire glanced at Featherkit with a sad amber gaze "I don't know darling but at least we're together" she mewed gently as she swimmed through the strong currents and towards soem rocks that were above the water and managed to climb up them "We'll be safe her for now remeber to stay close to me" she told her daughter softly as she leaned over her shoulder to pick Featherkit up by the scruff and place her at her paws.

Featherkit whimpered, huddling next to Mistfire. "O- okay" She looked around, fear and sadness in her eyes. "I hope Fogkit and Meadowkit are safe . ."

Mistfire curled her soft tail around Featherkit and looked at her with sad amber eyes "Me too darling" she mewed gently and gave her daughter a comforting lick on the head "How about I tell you a story to keep our minds of this?" she suggested softly the pale gray queen didn't know many stories so she planned on making one up.

Mistfire smiled slightly happier that Featherkit was in a brighter mood "Ok then" she mewed softly and started her story "Once upon a time there was a warrior who was very brave and very kind and very beautiful her name was...Lightshimmer" it took the queen a few seconds to think of a name but she thought Lightshimmer sounded nice "She was happy and so was the rest of Riverclan... but one day there was a flood much like this one and it swept through and destroyed the camp all the cats were sad and giving up hope of surviving...until Lightshimmer spoke she said do not fret everyone for we still have each other and that's all we need to rebuild our peaceful life again the warriors words inspired all of Riverclan and after a few moons of hard work they did return to their old life and they were happier than ever before the end"Mistfire finished and turned back to Featherkit with a soft smile.

The tiny little tabby let out a whimper of pain as Plumelder moved. Stars, why did it hurt so bad??? Rainkit couldn't see anything but blood from his left eye. He turned his head and opened his right eye to see Lionbestie. The tiny kit tried to move into his fur if he would let him. "SCARED!! SCAREDD!!!!!" He yowled in pain. Blood was roaring in his ear, and his heart felt like it would burst out of his chest. Rainkit heaved in all the air he could get, wanting his pain to go away.
