Lynxpelt nodded. He did have one remaining question. "Did you get any border tour," he asked.
"I know where thunderrats are and I don't think I got to the other ones yet." She said looking at him. Stormypaw wandered if she could become leader like dawnstar

Snorting at the scorn of swimming Bleedingpaw flicked a tail, narrowly missing swatting Scorpionpaws ears with it. "Yes riverclan swims but we can too. After riverclan WE have the most water of the clans with our bogs and swamps, its important and great warriors (like your mother) mostly know how to swim." Honestly Bleedingpaw viewed it as a neglected skill by the clan, a poor decision made out of dislike of riverclan. Shadowclan had the most water stuff in their territory after riverclan, cats drowned here even if infrequently. To stand above shadowclan shouldnt be like the stupid fish and just content themselves with their 'main' skill stealth, they should climb like the squirrels and swim like the fish to beat them in their domain.
Though as much as he wished with his lack of balance the golden bengal really couldnt climb without severe risk.
He did scoff at the disdain of wet and poked Scorpionpaw with narrowed eyes "You LOVE mud, you cannot tell me you hate wet, mud is basically wet but thicker." A sigh and reluctance as he admitted "Some of shadowclans water is basically black with the Stuff in it, if we take you to learn swimming there would you be brave enough to face the dreaded wet. I supoooooose I could take like, Foxpaw instead if you dont think youre up to it." Low low blow insinuating that Scorpionpaw was too scared to learn to swim and that Foxpaw, her most unobtrusive and middling sibling could do it instead but if it got Scorps on board then it was a fair play.
Of course immediately after, possibly in vengeance, the little rat of a cat asked the one question that'd bluescreen Bleedingpaw entirely. "UUuuuuuuuhhhh....." Oh god HOW was he gonna explain this? The 'family' was amazingly complex and totally a mess and honestly it really depended on what two cats considered eachother in the end most of the time! Plus, though the apprentice had settled into viewing Dawnstar as a grandmother or at least his matriarch that'd been after moons of feeling he didnt deserve it! Even now he didnt feel he deserved kinship of Scorpionpaw, or even know if he FELT kindship to her! Nor did he know if he could try and risk her betraying him too like all cats were capable of- uh uh uh uh-
Frozen, blue eyes wide as his mind raced, the meeting continuing in the background until he was, eventually, freed by happenstance. Scorpionpaw had been distracted before the bengal had been forced to answer, tossing him to the ground with an "Oof!" as the molly bolting out from under him sent him tumbling. In a way it was a relief, he still hadnt decided an answer, and the tom kinda just laid there head still reeling.
Apprentices being reassigned? "Because their mentors were either useless, retiring, or now dead. I'm lucky- I got a good mentor." Morningpaw stated calmly, flicking his dark tail. Amber eyes gleamed. He eventually spotted his mentor, and pointed her out to the calico. "See her, Wildkit? That's my mentor, Mosstangle." The tabby meowed, smoothing down his chest fur. "Do you have anyone in particular that you want to be mentored by?" Morningpaw asked, just out of curiosity.
WILDKIT
Shadowclan kit | 4 Moons | Long-furred calico tom with yellow eyes

Wildkit's eyes followed Morningpaw's tail to the dark tabby. He remembered seeing her around a couple of times, but didn't really know her. She was beside a white time he had definitely never met before, but, come to think, any time the calico had seen Mosstangle, he was pretty sure she had been around him most of those times within the last moon.
Then his eyes turned back to Morningpaw as he asked the kit a question. If he said she was a good mentor, then he would believe that. Morningpaw was a lot smarter than him, and so far nothing he said had ever hurt him. "Uhm..." Wildkit's eyes narrowed once more at the pair that were now talking about Morningpaw. "I don't know... maybe Mosstangle's friend? If she's really good, then her friend is a good mentor too, right?" He asked.

Blackjaw smiled slightly at Mosstangle's words, but kept his gaze fixed on the ground. Laying there looking like he was pouting wouldn't help anything, but he couldn't help but feel dejected. He took a deep breath in and out, glancing up at Morningpaw, who was looking at Mosstangle, talking to Wildkit about her. "It seems your apprentice is fond of you," the tom mewed, a little spark of a laugh under his voice.
MOSSTANGLE
Shadowclan Warrior | 19 moons | Large, dark brown-and-white tabby she-cat with green eyes

Mosstangle purred in response as Blackjaw mentioned Morningpaw. She was quite proud of the young tom, and it warmed her heart to hear him feel this way. "Well, I think I just got lucky with him as my apprentice." She said, playfully quiet so Morningpaw might hear only if he was listening. She smiled at the little kit's overly loud comment. He seemed to have no understanding of how loud he was.
"Well, there you go. Maybe talk to the little one and bring it up to Dawnstar that you want to be his mentor in the future." She said. Mosstangle had a feeling the little kit would be a handful as an apprentice. Hopefully the kit that liked to hide and play in the apprentice den wouldn't be too much for Blackjaw to handle, though.

The damn lazy fools couldn’t even give her a proper territory tour. It was disgraceful. Lynxpelt’s eyes were like flickering flames, but he was more than willing to give the cat the territory tour she needed. “Say we go out on a territory tour tomorrow,” the tom mewed.

Blackjaw smirked at the young kits words, something to lighten his mood. "Maybe," he mewed. "He only said I might be good cuz my friend is good," the tom purred, teasing Mosstangle with a gently nudge to the shoulder.
Blackjaw's eyes lingered on the kit for a moment. Maybe he would keep an eye on the kit, talk to Dawnstar about his apprenticeship. He was certain that no matter how difficult, he would become a great warrior.

Mosstangle's friend? Oh, him. "That's Blackjaw! And yeah, he's cool. If you want to, you can just talk to him and ask if he'd mentor you. I'm sure he would." Morningpaw flicked his tail, amber eyes flicking to Mosstangle as his sharp ears picked up her comment. He rolled his eyes slightly but grinned at her, sharp teeth gleaming.

Mosstangle purred and playfully narrowed her eyes at Morningpaw's toothy grin. He looked like he was going to make trouble, even if that hadn't been his intent with the silly face. What a relief it was that he hadn't yet gotten into any kind of trouble. The dark tabby refused to tell him, at least until he had finished his own warrior ceremony, how much of an absolute nightmare she must have been to her own mentor.
Mosstangle nodded at Blackjaw's comment. "That's true, but would we really be friends if you weren't as capable as me?" Why did the word 'friends' bother her, suddenly? The well of emotion caught her off guard, making her blink and a momentary look of confusion cross her face before she quickly hid it and looked back up to Dawnstar, feeling her face go hot. There it was again. That feeling, the butterflies... She had been so relaxed until the oddly inappropriate yet perfectly normal word slipped out.
Mosstangle's friend? Oh, him. "That's Blackjaw! And yeah, he's cool. If you want to, you can just talk to him and ask if he'd mentor you. I'm sure he would." WILDKIT

Blackjaw? Yellow eyes stared at the tom for a moment as he continued talking with Mosstangle. He felt suddenly shy and looked back up at Morningpaw, momentary panic flashing in his eyes. Just walk up and talk to a warrior? That seemed pretty scary! He never really interacted with any of the warriors.
"Can you ask him for me...?" The calico whispered, looking a little bit smaller than his long fur usually let him seem as his ears drooped. How was he supposed to talk to adults, anyway? Even most of the queens kind of just shooed him off or ignored him after a little while. The only other cat that he had interacted with was Mudburr... and he seemed awfully grumpy to Wildkit.

Falconsplash
She/her | 24 moons old | ShC warrior | No purrks
A good talker... who's he talking to now? she looked around, then after a split-second realized he was talking about her! Stars! I have bees in my brain! How do I recover from that?!"M-me? I wouldn't say that. I hardly talk at all! I-I'm mostly out in the forest. The pine smells sooo nice and sometimes the bugs make really relaxing sounds... I could just sit in the shadows allllll day..."
She smiles fondly before realizing she was rambling, and quickly paused, embarrassed. "Oh! W-what do you like to do?
So that's what Falconsplash liked to do? Cool. "Sounds nice." He whispered, bending down slightly so he could see the smaller cat better. Her question stopped him short though. What did he like to do..? "I don't know... Maybe training, or watching clouds.." Silentmutter said quietly, twitching his cream and brown tabby tail. Yeah, that sounded good.. Quiet things. Cats could be overwhelming. And now he had an apprentice, so that would be hard to avoid.. Eh.
Morningpaw narrowed his eyes right back at his mentor, tail twitching, before he noticed Wildkit was talking to him. The calico wanted him to.. talk to Blackjaw for him. "I won't talk to him for you." The apprentice told the tom-kit. "But I'll talk to him with you. Come on!" He bundled the kit up and nudged him over to the pair of warriors. He grinned toothily at Blackjaw, flicking his tail protectively around Wildkit. "Hey guys! This is Wildkit. Blackjaw, he was wondering if you might consider..." He trailed off, nudging the calico again, signaling he should continue the sentence.
Stemstone. He did it! He had earned his warrior name! The cream-coated tom turned to Newtbelly and Silentpaw with a toothy grin, stepping away once Dawnstar continued the meeting. He sat next to Silentpaw, brushing his flank against the tom with a teasingly arrogant smirk. Although, how much of that confidence was part of the tease was...hard to tell. Bound by the traditional vow of silence, he didn't say anything. But he turned his shining red-amber eyes to Newtbelly, dipping his head gratefully to his mentor. His teacher. The closest thing he had to a father. A deep, rumbling purr erupting from his throat as his tail waved happily.
Stemstone. Not exactly what he'd expected, but for ambition and resourcefullness, it made sense. Stars, he was grinning, wasn't he? Unusual for Newtbelly. Who could blame him, though? He was proud. He met Stemstone's eyes, dipping his head too, as he joined the chant. "Hollowhawk, Stemstone, Tigernight, Fishbite!" It took everything in him not to yell Stemstone's new name far louder than the others because - ah, that would be unprofessional, right? It was nice to see that he and Silentpaw were getting along. He should catch up with the medicine apprentice at some point.
