"Honestly, you may not even need to use this skill as much as others." They commented idly "It's always good to know though, just in case."

Skunkridge turned her gaze back to Stormpaw "If you would like to practice more, get more comfortable, you can." He said "If you do, just stick with those two branches for now, unless you get comfortable enough to go a little higher."

The ray of sunshine was glad when SkunkRidge informed he may not have to use the skill often. His distress was that obvious huh? “Yeah, I think the fear is a first-time thing…maybe. Something about heights just…freaks me out y’know?” he explained, trying to add some reasons behind his wimpiness.

Faster this time. A fox could scale this trunk faster than that and chew your tail off with the speed you're going."

With a shower of bark, he pulled himself up the one she sat on and nudged her with his forepaw. "Get moving."

“Okaaaay. I’m going.” Ughhhh. She was gonna dieeeeee. Holding in her deliberate grunts and grumbles and heavy sighs (she was a teenager with mood swings, okay), Kestrelpaw dug her claws into bark a little too hard, wanting to whine and complain about the woodchips in her pawpads but ignoring them instead in favor of heaving herself to the next place.

Tree climbing SUCKED. With a Capital S. With a Capital EVERYTHING, actually. Nonetheless, Kestrelpaw forgot about all her woes momentarily as she reached the second branch. “I did it! Tada! I leaned climbing!”

He bit his tongue as he almost said no. Goodness what would a true warrior do Stormy? They would continue practicing of course! Much against his will, his cursed tongue moved and spoke for him. “I’ll practice some more.” it may have been convincing too, off the look on his face at least, but his voice had quivered a bit as he faced the tree again and he did as he had been. He dug his claws into the base of the tree trunk and inched his way up to the first branch. Sure, he was okay at it, but not comfortable with it.

The tuxedo cat watched as Stormpaw climbed up the tree.
She watched carefully, every inch that Stormpaw moved.
He promised himself he won’t let Stormpaw get hurt on his watch.

He glanced up to the second branch, his previous achievement, then down to his mentor. Then a question pricked at his mind, just on the tip of his tongue. Sure, it’s not something he’d want to do, but may as well ask, right?

“Hey SkunkRidge? Can cats also jump up the tree? Like- branch to branch?” his usual curious spark glinted in his gaze as he peered down to his mentor, while also clinging onto the tree branch for his life.
