One of these days he'd use the she-cat as her namesake. Leechscar pinned his ears back and fixed the WindClan medicine cat with a rude glare. It seemed he had gotten a new moniker, he couldn't remember what or if she had given him one before. Regardless, he disliked this one even more than the one apprentice had given him.

"Badgerbait! Just the cat I was trying to avoid." He responded with great
lackluster and his obvious loathing of the name. He was interested in what she wanted him to fetch this time. Leechscar didn't go on as many patrols as he would like. He wasn't quite certain why he wasn't sent on more of them. He had a perfect track record even from apprenticehood. Leechscar found border patrols dull, but hunting and herb patrols were mildly entertaining. Herb patrols, in particular, stood out as he got an opportunity to learn a little about herbs with each one he was sent on.

Goldenrod and juniper berries. The goldenrod was self-explanatory and he was sure he'd be able to find some even without her explanation. Juniper berries he needed to pay attention to. So bluish-black berries that just started growing so don't overharvest since she didn't need too many of those. One of these days he was going to have bug Lightningstorm to teach him more about herbs, he'd be happy with just some basics and be willing to trade her a hunting or battle lesson in return. Honestly, she should probably teach all the furies some basics regarding herbs and healing. He'd talk to Batglare about it later.

"Got it, Badgerbait." He turned away from the small she-cat and called the apprentices he'd be taking with him. "Owlbait, Burnetpaw, let's go we've got an herb patrol." He hasn't taken his apprentice to the Starry Meadow yet so he got to knock out two jobs in one.

Mismatched ears perked up as the gentle giant heard his name mentioned by the petite feline in charge of the herbs. Snowybreeze had of course not meant to eavesdrop. Stars no. But... there was little question as to what Lightningstorm had been up to as she corralled different cats together and bundled them into groups of three, and the Maine Coon mix did not wish to miss out on his name being called and therefore making his patrol tardy. Goodness, he would never be able to live with himself if he caused troubles of that fashion for any of his clanmates! And it seemed he had been right to pay attention, too! His name had indeed been called, alongside with... being called a bruiser?! Oh. Oh golly. Was he really that scary looking? He certainly hoped not. He was a good, soft poppa cat. A Snowydad, if you will. Not a bruiser, oh no.

Refusing to think too much more on it before he went down the path of existential crisis that so easily came to him, the tom shook himself, padding towards the leader and medicine cat. Offering a timid smile in greeting and a respectful dip of his head towards both. He didn't speak. The leader and medicine cat might still need to talk more. Or perhaps Twilightstar would want to talk to her apprentice! Or... or... Well, all he knew was that it wasn't his time to speak, and besides, he was too busy being giddy about this trip to twolegplace. As far as places went, he preferred the prairies of his home... but exploring new and unfamiliar places was always fun, too!

Where was Crowtooth? Crowtooth was napping you jerk, for all the tom was accused of being the slave driver here at least he didnt wake sleeping cats!! Groaning as he hauled himself up and over the tom yawned wide, flashing white teeth and blinked as he tried to boot his brain up.


"Right, marigold an' coltsfoot. I can promise ya marigold an' well see about this new one. No promises though. After yer promisin' me a break though, I aint tryin' ta work myself ta death."
Seriously, Crowtooth had seen better cats then him fail from burnout and he wasnt going to follow their example. He was going to do better then that and that meant occasionally taking things easy.


Later though.

"Lichenpaw! Buttercuppaw! Hop too, as soon as yer here we'll head out an' get this done, short an' easy like."

Ah, she should have known. When it came time for herb patrols Deadmoon was always called by Lightningstorm, whether because she had done a decent job of getting them done or simply to spare her a terribly embarrassing hunting patrol she didn't know. Regardless Deadmoon ambled over, head tilted to the side as she listened to the description of hawkweed. She imaged she'd seen it in passing, but simply assumed it to be a dandelion or marigold. There were far too many yellow flowers to keep them all straight. Mint was more noticeable in her mind, especially as it had a distinctive smell. She hadn't been aware it possessed any medicinal properties, though it was also possible Lightningstorm was merely testing it. Whatever. Deadmoon cast a somewhat guilty look at Honeypaw (they hadn't gone training enough recently) and followed Mushroomglow out of camp, a bit miffed that the younger warrior was in teh lead rather than herself. @CloudlessEve @CollapsingStars

She peeked outside her den when she heard her name called, peering at Lightingstorm as she explained what she wanted done. Herb patrol! It's been a little since she's been out on patrol with cats so she was eager to get one done. The leader sprung down from her den, shook her pelt, stretched, and joined Lightingstorm.

Twilightstar wasn't thrilled about adventuring in the twolegplace. She disliked almost everything there, from their strange dens to their irksome dogs. Still, Lightingstorm made a good point. This would be a great experience for Lightingpaw. She didn't think he'd been to the twolegplace. They also got to bring Snowbreeze! The big brute was similar to Batglare in ways, Twilightstar rarely interacted with him unless something was going on. She saw him around but didn't interact with him regularly like some of her other warriors. He also didn't visit her den. He seemed to take to fatherhood like a duck to water though.

"So chamomile and lavender, I'm overly familiarly with the latter but I know the scent. Even though I'm not ecstatic with wandering around the twolegplace I suppose you have a point in apprentices at least familiarizing themselves with the place." If she weren't so worried about everything that could go wrong, she might make twolegplace a mandatory tour location. The clan cats should know where to locate any herbs that grew there. As it was she'd probably be running around a few dens in search of the herbs there.

"It looked like you're coming as trouble repellant." Twilightstar purred to Snowybreeze as he arrived quietly. Which in hindsight was a good idea. The kittypets normally minded their own business, but there would be few interested in starting anything with a cat as big as Snowybreeze even if he was a big marshmallow.

"Lightningpaw." She called for her apprentice.

Lightningpaw would come running out of the Apprentices den after hearing his name. Lightningpaw seemed to of not heard his name the first time it wasn't like he was purposely missing his name. He just hadn't heard it at first. He would come over to his leader and Lightningstorm and then... Lightningpaw wasn't too familiar with this cat still he seemed to be a Clanmate. So Lightningpaw figured that this must be their fellow Patrol cat. Lightningpaw would dip his head respectfully to the Patrol and Lightningstorm. "Sorry I am late." Lightningpaw mewed hoping he didn't get in too much trouble for the tardiness. Lightningpaw would then look over towards Lightningstorm and ask. "So how is Rabbitpaw doing as your Apprentice?" Lightningpaw asked her he hadn't quite mended the rift between him and his friend yet but he didn't hate Rabbitpaw either. @Moonraven @Alchemist Kitsune

Burnetpaw pricked her ears at the summons, getting to her feet slowly from the place where she had been sunning herself by the apprentice den. She was one of those cats who enjoyed the greenleaf heat and didn't particularly understand why some cats were so put off by it. It was better than leafbare, with its icy winds and eternal snowstorms. The reminder that greenleaf was coming to an end made her groan internally. Why couldn't it just be summer forever?

Making her way slowly over to Leechscar she allowed herself a small snicker at the use of his nickname. Chuckles was about as uncharacteristically Leechscar as you could get, and she appreciated the medicine cat's witty tone. At Leechscar's summons she made herself known, falling into step beside the big tom with a huff, "I heard the first time. I'm here, don't get your tail in a twist." She wasn't familiar with the other apprentice that had been named, being one to keep herself to herself among her denmates.

At the leader's words, the tom purred, raising one massive paw and covering his face bashfully. Oh goodness. Him. Trouble repellent. Well, he would most certainly try his hardest to make sure everyone got back in one piece. He was a peace keeper at heart, but he did not hesitate to attack any cat who dared threaten his precious clanmates. Hopefully, however, everything would be just fine and all they met was nice kittypets that wanted to be left alone too... if they met any at all!

"I-I. Shall put. On. My. Fiercest. Of faces," he finally responded once his bout of timidity left him, earning a teasing medicine cat sticking her tongue out at him. Which considering he had saddled poor Firestorm with helping him care for his lovely little treasures and it was clear the two mollies barely had any time for each other, he was really just glad she didn't seem mad at him.

Twilightstar's apprentice soon came bounding out of the apprentices' den, and as Lightningstorm excused herself to leave, it seemed the paw had a question for her regarding... the medicine cat apprentice? Sky blue eyes turned to the wiry framed she-cat as she paused, turning to glance at the tom that shared her name with studiously, as if assessing something he could not discern. Tilting his head curiously, he glanced between the two of them, wondering if there was something wrong with poor Rabbitpaw - he had heard of his recent loss... by golly, what a way to start his new apprenticeship - but preferring not to ask. He didn't like to pry, oh no no no. The medicine cat seemed to have found what she was looking for, however, as her gaze turned softer despite not losing its playfulness.

"Mmmm. I do wonder. He's had a bit of a rough start, hasn't he? With all that's been going on of late..."

With that she was gone. Calling to the next patrol. A happy go lucky twitch of her tail waving goodbye. The response had been somewhat cryptic, and the tom couldn't help wonder what was up with that. Lightningstorm had never been one to skirt around answers. But then, he hadn't been seeing much of Rabbitpaw around camp of late, either. Perhaps this was her way of trying to coax the other paw to talk to his friend? The life of a medicine cat did seem awfully lonely, and the cream apprentice had always been so social. Much like the calico had been as a kit herself. Was she trying to avoid the isolation getting to him like it had gotten to her during those dark moons when she had seemed to be at the edge of a crevasse just barely hanging on?

Whatever was the case, he was sure the medicine cat had the best intentions at heart. Much as she didn't show it often, she had a soft spot in her heart for her patients and those close to her. He'd been there for both her sass and her care. Still, Lightningpaw might not be as familiar with the calico as Snowybreeze was. As such, he tried offering a small smile of encouragement. Perhaps the tom was simply shy and did not want to bother the apprentice while he settled in?

"Y-you know. I. I think. If you. Are. Worried. For. Your friend. Lightningstorm. She. Wouldn't. Mind. Rabbitpaw. Spending time. With friends," he mewed softly, paws shuffling timidly as he turned his gaze to the ground, hoping he wasn't speaking out of turn. Suddenly very aware of his voice and eager to get a move on to twolegplace.

Lightningpaw wished he could talk to Rabbitpaw but if he was honest Lightningpaw wasn't sure what to say to him. Lightningpaw would look over towards Snowybreeze before meowing. "I don't think I can... Last time we talked was right before he became Medicine Cat Apprentice. I didn't agree with his decision of throwing away his Warrior Training. I may... Have said some things about how he was being a mouse-brained furball. Me and Rabbitpaw we were going to become Windclan Warriors together... And now that won't happen. I know I need to apologize but I have been unable to bring myself to do so. Plus he is now learning to become a Medicine Cat he has become important to the Clan meanwhile I am just an Apprentice a normal Apprentice." Lightningpaw would meow revealing that a lot of emotions was behind the argument and distance between him and Rabbitpaw. Lightningpaw not only disagreed with Rabbitpaw's change in careers but he also was beginning to feel inadequate in comparison to his friends important job for the Clan. At the same time Lightningpaw felt sad that the two couldn't become Warriors together anymore. @Moonraven @Alchemist Kitsune
