With a struggle he quickly began descending the tree. At a certain point a claw remained stuck in the bark, and panic flooded over him. Desperate to get down, he unsheathed all his claws and let himself fall on the ground.

Ashpaw had fallen into a bramble bush. Leaves had helped him land, but now his pelt was full of thorns. He glanced at Harefire, ashamed of his performance.

Harefire suppressed a purr of amusement. He extended a paw into the bush and yanked the apprentice out. "You OK?" He asked, brushing a large thorn off Ashpaw's pelt.

Yes, I think so.. Just some scratches.
Ashpaw shook off leaves, twigs and thorns from his fur. It'll need a thorough groom, but it's fine.
Glancing up again, he asked: Do you think every cat can learn climbing trees? Out of curiosity, of course.
The apprentice wouldn't reveal he had real struggles with this, but he wouldn't give up either. @ Rabbiteye

Well then, I swear that one day I'll be the most skillful Thunderclan warrior on these trees! Ashpaw forgot instantly about his previous shameful fall, and run torward another near tree. It wasn't very tall, but its branched looked strong and he wanted to give it a try. He looked behind him and waited for Harefire to join him.

I think I can find a way to do this.
I'm not very good at clinging to trunks, so I can try jumping as close to the nearest branch as I can. Ashpaw braced himself for the jump, then he stretched his hind legs... this time he was prepared, and his claws didn't miss the bark. With a last effort he pulled himself onto the branch, and looked down at his friend. Look! I did it all on my own!
