Smokey padded over to the other cats. Why the hell had other cats formed their territory here? She had been about to claim it! Ugh. Now she had to get along with these mange-pelts if she wanted somewhere to live. Am I welcome here? She meowed, her voice firm.

Cricket

Cricket gave a nearby bush a sniff, wrinkling her nose in disgust. "Hey, Notch," she meowed to her companion, flicking her tail to call him over, "check this out." As the silver tabby tom took in the smell, Cricket opened her mouth to drink in the scents of the area, and confirmed what she suspected. "Cats." The two looked at each other. They knew of the clan cats in the area, and preferred to steer clear of their patrols. However, Cricket was never one to shrink from a fight. "Should we check it out?" She asked with a grin.

Notch

Notch shrugged his shoulders in response to Cricket's question. He didn't much like the idea of potentially walking into a trap. "I'm not sure that's wise." He meowed coolly. Cricket rolled her eyes in response, making the silver tabby tom inwardly groan. He knew where this was going. "Oh c'mon you mouseheart! Let's check it out!" Cricket hissed before following the faint scent trail. Notch sighed and followed, his tail lashing in annoyance.

Nothing really said he had to follow the brown spotted tabby into what was undoubtedly going to be trouble. But they had traveled together for a while. And despite his better judgement, he did care somewhat about what happened to her. They eventually found a cave and peered inside. His eyes widened immediately, and he was grateful that he followed Cricket now.

"What in the world is going on here? Who are all these cats?" He was asking no cat in particular, but him and Cricket exchanged a cautious glance before slowing stepping into the cave. Their pelts bristling, unsure of what kind of welcome they'd find.
