As a reminder:
- There will be a five-round system where we will roll dice for each cat participating. The results will be as follows:
* 1-5 = automatic fail; you miss the catch.
* 6-10 = you catch one piece (and perhaps not as smoothly as you'd want).
* 11-15 = you catch two pieces! look at you!
* 16-20 = you catch three pieces, wowza!
**Note: if you have the Ultimate Predator purrk, your dice will be rolled twice! The better outcome of the two will be chosen. Please notify us if you have this purrk if it's not listed on your header/posts!**
- But beware! Not all numbers are as they seem... some random numbers between 1-20 have been chosen as 'trapped'. Rolling these digits might land you in a rather inconvenient situation. Each group will have different 'trapped' numbers. Perhaps the dice will be kind to you? Perhaps not...
- This will be a semi-fast-paced event where we will be wanting to roll every 2-3 days to keep it moving, so if you're participating, please be ready to respond! No post means no dice rolls, so if there isn't one, we will skip over you for that roll.

Kitty Soft Paws, Heightened Perception [smell]
[a small, fluffy tortoiseshell she-cat with pale green eyes and an atrociously fluffy tail, a small tick in her right ear, and a scar on her cheek]
Eyes shone.
Willowpaw's claws were so, so close.
Paws enclosed around air, as the chipmunk darted off. It was as though it had been waiting for her to pounce. Willowpaw blinked. And then buried her face in her paws, ready to scream. Finessed by a chipmunk!!! Her entire ego imploded within four seconds. It didn't take long before she dragged herself up, a spark of hope of possibly catching sight of her prey crackling within her mind. And guess what?
Willowpaw noticed Sleepysunrise tilt her head at her. Now, that could just mean "yo come here i wanna show ya smth". But. It could also mean "you realize your mortal self does not compare to my hunting abilities of highest superiority, whilst those belonging to you are mere and even though we hath caught the same amount of quarry, you simply frightened the mammal i was going to proceed to pounce upon, so little mortal apprentice, you'd better apologize or else somebodys going to have a very unfortunate accident very very soon". Weighing the possibilities, Willowpaw's subconscious wanted to believe the latter. But remember kids; always remain p o s i t i v e ! *negativity bias in the corner*. She strode up to Sleepysunrise, ready for lessons on how to stop being so god darned pathetic.
Unless Sleepysunrise launched into a poem about how useless and feeble she was.........
she was starting to regret this.

She would say that disappointment filled her chest as she stared down at the measly catch in her maw. Yeah, she caught something, unlike a few others around her. Yet that didn't mean her pride in being a good hunter wasn't hurt as someone punched her in her face. The half-blind torbie hoped that maybe in the next round, she would have better luck, no way could she bring back one damn mouse.

Flamegaze cursed quietly when she saw the patrol leaving without her. She quickly caught up and fell in beside the patrol, but not before they had already caught some prey. Drat. well, that just proved how rusty she was at hunting. She refocused and sniffed the air for prey.

He didn't get it. The bird had fluttered with wing flapping so violently everywhere. His bright blue eyes watched as the bird made their escape. 'Next one! Next time I'll get it!'
That was right. This is only the first try since the last real hunt. He should be able to catch something else...right? Palepaw didn't let this get to him. Afterall learning takes time and failing just means he can do more learning. With a cheerful skip, the pale calico padded along the dappled patches of grass and found mice scurrying about. 'Another chance!'
He crouched down and proceeded forwards towards the rodent settling about in the distance.

It was the latter, most certainly, even if Sleepysunrise was not aware and had no clue what the specific sentence is about, it had to be the later one. But that aside, being the warrior that she was, the enforcer gave the apprentice a subtle nod and took notice that neither other apprentice had appeared or even given a reaction. Well, for now, she could focus on Willowpaw. At least this one was willing. She flicked her tail and crouched down, imploring the younger feline to study her movements with a quiet word; "Watch."
She mew, creeping off second later in direction of a mouse she had scented moments ago. Quiet steps and dark fur that adequately blended into the shadows, the enforcer's paw steps remained quiet and light as she kept herself in balance partially thanks to her level-held tail in a practiced crouch, before pouncing once she was close enough and swiftly killing the mouse. She buried aside her prey to save it for later, having noticed a blackbird nearby too; although she had planned to catch just a single mouse as an example, Sleepysunrise couldn't ignore the ready-to-catch bird peacefully picking away at the ground. She had to be additionally stealthy as she approached, but when the dark-furred molly darted forth she took care to slap the bird's wings closed and keep it from fluttering away, quickly twisting its neck until it died, too, burying it alongside her mouse.
Returning to Willowpaw, she waved her tail, a silent wondering of what she understood. "You."
Sleepysunrise mew, indicating it was the apprentice's turn. But she knew better than to leave it at a mere example, and crouched once more, inviting Willowpaw to copy her stance. "Keep low, and your fur off the ground. Paws a shoulder width apart. Tail level.. It will help with balance."
She briefly flicked her gaze over to the apprentice. "Keep your steps light. Be mindful of the ground... Don't step on debris. Be silent."
She demonstrated, slowly. "Pounce swiftly, precisely. It takes practice, but... Try. Claws unsheathed. So you can catch your prey. The neck -- it'll... relieve its life. Quickly."
Rat tails! Wildstorm hissed as she came out empty-pawed. But no matter, she just had to keep trying. After checking that her previous catches were still where she left them, she tried again, this time picking up traces of mouse again. She wished she had found another squirrel, or even a frog. But this was fine too. Prey was prey. Wildstorm crept up slowly, checking her position. When she felt she was a good distance from her quarry, she lunged again.
Mothcloud purred, all of her hunting has been good so far! Meadowwhisper had caught one.... and her poor mate Fallenmoon had failed both times. Hunting was never his gig anyways. Mothcloud looked around , spotting a bird she narrowed her gaze, stalking forward and once close enough leaping, Meadowwhisper hid on a stump and leapt at a squirrel while Fallenmoon stalked down a bird, hopefully catching it this time

SQUIRRELRISE she/her. 15 moons. small, scarred russet molly with brown markings and yellow eyes.
[ chill of death, hulk SMASH ]
darn, squirrelrise internally groans as the bird flies away before she can even get close. shaking her head and deciding to quickly go after something else, her jaws part to catch more scents. luckily, she quickly catches the scent of a vole and tracks the scent. dropping into a crouch, she approaches carefully as the vole comes into view. when she felt she was close enough, she leaps at the vole.
_____
QUILLPAW he/him. 10 moons. dark grey tom; tabby markings; light grey markings, amber and blue eyes.
[ mind reader ]
quillpaw's maw twitches upwards in a smirk as he manages to catch not one, but two squirrels. chest puffing out with pride, he picks up the two squirrels as he tries to pick up any more scents. soon enough, he picks up the scent of a toad. dropping into a crouch and creeping in the direction of the scent, his eyes land on the amphibian not too far away. eugh..it looked so slimy. how disgusting. anywho, he supposes prey is prey. so, dropping his two catches, he stalks closer, lunging forward soon after.
rookfire was a plenty surprised when he went for one rabbit and ended up able to get his claws and jaws on two more sizeable rabbits back to back. all that despite having picked the rabbits scent because he wasnt very experienced at hunting and would prefer to catch one rabbit than one mouse, obviously. what these rabbits had thoughts to sprint back and forth the clearing in panic instead of disappearing into undergrowth or their dens was beyond him but perhaps the scent of this many cats nearby was confusing. whatever it was, rookfire would not complain.
three rabbits limp between his jaws, the medic made his way back to where he had sent off the groups, keeping an eye on cinderpaw but trusting her enough to be alone whilst he scratched soil and leaves over the prey. he had not expected to meet bristlethorn before the end of this but he still gave her a upwards nod, silently equiring about her presence. a valid question, the warrior was quite a bit older than him so it was understandable that she would be the one worried about something like this. appreciative and glad she didnt immediately question his ability to lead and decide on stuff, the medic welcomed the question with open paws.
"'m gonna stay close ta' here so ya dont have ta' worry if ya leave yer stuff here" he ensured, scratching a bit more soil over his half buried prey (who liked soil in their prey??) to underline his point. the medic watched her leave and hopefully return to her group before returning to hunting again. this time, the shuffle of feathers drew his attention towards a couple of crowds picking at a half devoured remainder of frog so he pushed closer slowly. he couldnt quite remember ever catching a bird apart from the rook he had caught a couple of moons back with roachflare so this might be his biggest fail to date.
