Elmshadow gave a small acknowledging nod of his head then settled in to unwrap the layers of cobwebs encasing Longclaw's injured leg. At the very last, he slowed his work to make sure the last layer wouldn't peel away any scabbing and thus cause the wounds to bleed again. Luckily it all seemed to be healing well and the cobwebs came away nicely. He chewed the yellow bell then mixed it with a pawful of honey to create a sticky poultice then spread that over the fresh wounds before rewrapping the leg in fresh cobwebs. "That should heal it just fine. Return if you notice the pain worsen, a stench, or begin to feel ill. Otherwise the bandages should be fine to be removed in a couple days and you may return to warrior duties in a quarter moon. But you're still not to leave camp, not until you're told otherwise." With that, he dismissed the warrior by turning his back and cleaning the remnants of the herbs.

Longclaw nodded at the med ''Alright, thank you''. He walked away from the den, ''Again, thank you'' He went and sat somewhere in the clearing.

Rapidscorch had wanted to go after the intruder. He’d wanted to avenge this crime. But Larkfire would handle it he was certain, and he could do much more good here. With Dappledleaf in such a state of distress, Rapidscorch had taken it upon himself to bring Flowerkit to the medicine cat’s den. After his sister’s thorough grooming, the tiny kit was already looking like her i juries were less drastic than the initial impression. But that did not change the fact that any tiniest disruption to his niece’s health was a catastrophe for the tom, and he was therefore in disarray. He’d woken up that morning and almost immediately been called to find Flo (without grooming his fur first, the horror!).
Now, some time later, with the injured kitten delicately between his jaws and brambles caught in his usually immaculate pelt, Rapidscorch was not in good shape. He jolted into the medicine cat’s den, blue and yellow eyes searching desperately for Elmshadow or Ivysnake. “Flowerkit needs medical attention,” he announced as soon as he set her down gently, getting straight to the point. The lanky warrior crouched beside his niece with worry, attempting a couple gentle laps at her bleeding head. “She was taken from camp and attacked by an outsider in the territory,” he explained haltingly between licks.

@jupiter @TheNyanCatMinecart [If you'd like to have Ivysnake pop in, up to you ^^]
He blinked awake, shocked momentarily that he'd drifted off to sleep at all. His sleep had been disturbed recently and he hadn't realized how much he'd needed the nap until he woke up without the memory of falling asleep. his grogginess didn't last, however, as Rapidscorch's voice rang through the den. He stood, skipping the stretch, and moved straight for the source of the voice. His green eyes moved down to the kit lying at the warrior's paws and he nodded, giving little more thought to Rapidscorch as his attention was focused completely on taking in what had happened to the small kit. Taken from camp? It didn't make sense but the senselessness of it wormed irritation throughout his muscles. He sniffed the kit, it seemed the worst of it had been localize to her head, another senseless notion unless whoever had been so bold as to attack a kit was truly aiming to kill the defenseless thing. He turned to the herb stocks and retrieved a single poppy seed, a piece of burdock root, a yellow bell and a piece of honeycomb then a swath of cobwebs. Returning to the kit with his supplies, he first took the smallest dab of honey and stuck a tiny black poppy seed into the sticky semi-liquid. If Flowerkit was able, he'd hold the dollop out for the kit to take herself otherwise he'd attempt to part the kit's jaw to slip the dollop into the kit's mouth, hoping the honey would help it all go down and the poppy seed would help with the shock of everything the kit had just gone through. He then chewed the burdock root and the yellow bell into a poultice before mixing it with a bit of the honey in order to spread the poultice over the wounds scattered over the kit's head and ears. If he could get that far without the kit fussing too much, he'd move on to wrap the wounds and sticky poultice with layers of cobwebs.
She'd been sitting in his den for a few days now and her condition had improved though his concern hardly abated. As Elmshadow walked into the den carrying a ball of moss soaked in fresh water mixed with honey, Sunsetthorn's chin rose from the nest and looked up to meet his eyes. He set the moss down beside her and she turned sluggishly to lap at it until the moisture was mostly pulled out. "Would you like more?"
She shook her head, "No, I'm okay. Thank you," she spoke slowly, almost regrettably. Elmshadow decided to ignore the dejected tonality to her voice and simply nodded. The lethargy was lingering but the nausea had subsided. She winded easily but he wasn't sure whether that had more to do with the residual effects of the toxin or her large belly full of kits. He'd been careful not to check on the kits while she was awake, prodding her belly gently only when she was in a deep sleep. For every check he did, at every opportunity he found, he'd found the kits to be concerningly still. He didn't want to open an opportunity for Sunsetthorn to ask after the kits but he could tell their wellbeing was forefront on her mind, all the more reason he didn't want to give her the news that he'd found nothing to give him hope that the kits were indeed safe. For now all he could do was care for Sunsetthorn in the best way he knew possible and hope when Sunsetthorn's body decided the time had come to kit she'd be strong enough to handle it and the kits would surprise them all by being alive and healthy.
"You're improving. I want you to stand and take a walk around the den. You need to start getting your strength back up."
Sunsetthorn was reluctant but she eventually did just as she was told, standing on wispy legs and taking a slow walk. She felt the burn in her lungs as they struggled to bring in enough air. When she got back to her nest, she realized another ball of moss filled with honeyed water was waiting for her. She lapped at it gratefully then settled down into her nest. Her mind was a fog but somewhere in it she realized she'd begun to soften towards her father. The last few moons had left her reeling, confused, questioning everything she'd come to believe of the cold and distant medicine cat in the past many seasons. He'd been a terrible mate to her mother and had been an absentee father to her and all of her siblings. But maybe there was something more. She couldn't forgive him everything he'd left her and her family to go through seemingly alone but she was slowly conceding that maybe she'd been too harsh on how he viewed everything. Before she could think too deep into it, she drifted off to sleep.
Once his daughter fell into her concerningly deep sleep, Elmshadow moved over and removed the damp moss ball. When he returned to her side, he sniffed her, satisfied to whatever extent he could be that she no longer held the stench of sickness. Now it was just a matter of getting her energy back after being sapped from the toxin that had ravaged her already taxed body, and dealing with the heartsickness that plagued her. He then took a broad black paw and pressed gently into her belly. He could feel the balls inside of her, shifting away from the pressure of his paws, that were the kits' hardening heads but he still felt little movement. What movement he felt he couldn't be sure if it was the kits squirming lethargically or if it was simply the small body shifting around one another for space from his prodding. He sighed silently, once again coming away with no reassurances then he moved away to allow his daughter her much needed rest.

Through the hazy mist of pain and exhaustion, Flowerkit knew she was being carried somewhere. Not by mama, but by her Uncle Rapid. Which was fine. Unexpected, but fine. Feeling dizzy as she was set down, feeling her uncle gently lap at her head (which was strangely damp and burning, why was that?) Flowerkit reached out to try to cling to his paw before forgetting her mission as the tomcat who was technically her father arrived, bustling around for a little bit before offered her something sticky. She had no appetite, but she took it anyways with a small whine, but the whine died down as the sweet mixture slid down her throat. That was pretty good.
But he seemed to think that she would like it as much if it was slathered on her head, because she smelled the same sweet stuff on her head and ears, wiggling slightly with a tiny mewl of complaint, the young molly really wished she had all four legs so she could stand up easier, but the shock and the sudden urge to fall asleep mixed with her tripod-ed state had her staying in the same spot, a small frown on her face as he wrapped some cobwebs on her head. She already knew she looked weird, but she was too tired and confused to protest. "icky." She whimpered, deciding to share her woes with her uncle, provided that he was still there and hadn't left.

White tipped paws carried the heavy set apprentice as quickly as they could, a frantic look on his eyes as he entered the medicine cat's den without warning. Mousepaw loathed this place. The scent. The residents... No, that wasn't fair. He did not judge Ivysnake for her mentor's faults. It was Elmshadow he loathed. This alone made certain he never stepped paw inside this place. The further he could keep the gray tom the better, as far as he was concerned. But... but there had been talk. Whispers in the camp that he could not ignore.
Mousepaw was not known for his patience. He was diligent and hardworking, but he liked getting things done now, and his mind was being torn in two different directions at the moment. One one paw, he hadn't seen Fuzzy in a bit. His mentor had just... vanished? Into thin air? Just like his father. Just like his Hazely. And now his mother was sick?! He'd rushed to the nursery to make sure, only to be met by empathetic looks and more whispers of Sunsetthorn being in Elmshadow's den. He didn't want to accept it but... what if it was true? Would he let his hatred of the cat he so resembled get in the way of his love for his mum?
Never! I'm not him. I care for my family. I am there for them. If she's here I'll...
Gritting his teeth he saw them. His mother and him. She was asleep. So asleep, in fact, she hadn't stirred as he'd called for her upon entering. Concern instantly darkening his gaze, the husky tom padded forth, attempting to nuzzle his mother affectionately on the head before turning a half glance towards the medicine cat, whiskers twitching with hatred as he remained silent. He had no intention of leaving his mother alone if he could help it, but if she was ill...
Teeth clenched again as Mousepaw swallowed his pride, the apprentice spoke in a voice gruff as he attempted his best to hold back a snarl. "Does she need anything?" He was certain the medicine cat wasn't giving her any special treatment solely because she was his daughter. He would expect no such thing from the tom. But... as a medicine cat... surely he would do his best to help her, right? That was his job. The whole reason he so dutifully ignored anyone that had any relation to him in the slightest. He would save her... He had to. He would not have ignored her and treated her as nothing more than a disturbance for anything less.

The grey and black medicine cat moved around to clean away the remnants of his work but he kept his green eyes tracking up to watch Flowerkit. It was perplexing that any kit should find themselves in such a situation, within the safety of Shadowclan's walls, but one of Dappledleaf's own was all the more troubling. He'd chosen to give her kits because he believed in her capabilities as a queen. This incident didn't make him doubt those abilities but, surprisingly even to himself, he found it concerned him. He decided he'd have to go find Dappledleaf to figure out how this had been allowed to happen. For now, his focus was on the kit. She seemed as stabilized as he could manage to get her though he felt maybe a more comfortable nest would have been beneficial to provide. He hadn't put any real consideration into it before, warriors and apprentices who visited his den didn't need a plushy place to sleep simply for living as they'd been born to, but a kit tossing and turning with injuries would risk breaking them open or prolonging healing. He'd have to fix that for the future. For now, if Rapidscorch could still be found lingering, he'd turn to him for the last bit of useful aid he could provide his sister's kit, "Rapidscorch, if you'd go out into the territory and find feathers or fur, we can give Flowerkit a bit of an easier rest in a softer nest. The only thing left for her is to grow strong and heal, and she'll need her rest for that." For the time being, he grabbed a dock leaf from the stores and gently slid it between the it and the mossy bedding beneath her, hoping it'd lend some protection against the intrusive moss as well as provide some ease in the pain he knew the kit must be feeling.

[Poor Mouse ]
**Elmshadow**
Tiredness tugged at him but his sleep had not recently helped against that ailment so he saw no reason to waste his time in trying again. He instead turned to busy himself with organizing the den, until the echoing silence was broken by a single word. It was all it took for Elmshadow to know who had entered his den and he wasn't the least bit surprised, though he wasn't sure the last time he'd heard his grandson's voice, much less in a tone of cordiality. He looked up, his green eyes stopping on the young tom, so similar to a smaller version of himself. He saw Mousepaw take in his mother, asleep in her nest, and then was not so dense as to miss the tension in the stocky body and the tightness of his face. Elmshadow took a step to face his grandson squarely and, after a brief pause, he meowed, "She only needs her rest now. But I'm sure it'll help her if she wakes up with you here." He wasn't sure he was doing the right thing but something about the serious way the apprentice's features set like he'd never quite seen it before made him feel like it was the only viable option. Giving a small nod, the dark medicine cat made to move out of the den to allow Mousepaw to wait comfortably with Sunsetthorn until she woke. He didn't know what more he could do for his daughter but making sure her remaining son was around felt like the closest thing. Goldenstep was brought to mind, the way she'd come to life after having kits to care for. Goldenstep would have done anything for her kits, even if that meant defying death, and he had no doubt that Sunsetthorn had inherited something similar from her mother. He could only hope.

The apprentice was so in shock he couldn't move out of that little hole under the tree. Dogpaw couldn't even hear the warrior that had appeared in front of him speak before hail grabbed him by the scruff and ran. Now, if this was normal Dogpaw he would have simply told Icethroat to get away from him but Dogpaw couldn't even speak let alone snap at anyone. The next thing Dogpaw knew was he was in the clearing of his clan and being given to Spiritpaw. Dogpaw still couldn't make out the words Icethroat was saying. The only things that made it to the apprentices ears were 'medicine den' and 'Elmshadow'.
In Dogpaws blurry vision he could see the silhouette of none other then his own father. The apprentice wanted to call out to him but didn't have the strength. Dogpaw for the first time in his life felt weak. Dogpaw was then slung over his father's shoulders and brought to the medicine den. The pain from both his tail and face were starting to become unbareable. The apprentice just wanted to lay down and sleep.
Mousepaw didn't know what he had been expecting. Some level of nastiness, for certain. Name calling. Being told he was useless here and to get out of the way. Having the medicine cat ask him to go fetch him some herbs in an impromptu patrol. Anything, really. Most anything, in any case. Certainly not to be given the chance to stay with his sick mum, of all things!
Swallowing hard at the implications here, the unspoken concern the normally happy go luck apprentice wished he was naive enough to not notice, he nodded. The rounded ears tom was not about to scoff this opportunity away. Breaking contact with eyes so similar to his own, Mousepaw turned his attention to Sunsetthorn, his ears drooping as he instantly dropped besides her, his body curled around her head in as similar a fashion as he could to her own motions back when he was a kit. Back when she was the one keeping him and his brother warm. Lovingly, the apprentice licked the tabby queen's head, a comforting gesture to let her know he was here for her.
"It's okay, mum, it's okay. You'll see. You'll be alright. I'll go hunt you the tastiest toad when you wake up," he mumbled softly between licks and nuzzles, finally settling on laying his head besides hers, silently willing her to get up and let him know she would be alright.
