"Alright." She dipped her head to the leader as a farewell and glanced at the kit. Who was out of their mind. "I'll leave this to you." Turning away, Mothdusk padded out of the den.

The kit looked at the she-cat leave, then turned back, "Do you accept?"

Lionstar snorted at his stupidity. "You're free to go if you'd like, kit.. but.." Lionstar started to head out of his den. "You'll die trying to make it to the Twolegplace. Hawks are more abundant with the warmer weather, and you bet they'd love to sink their beak into a tasty little mouse like yourself."

But he figured, this kit was too far gone as it was. "Would you like to be shown to the border, morsel?"

Mousekit sighed, he wasn't stupid, hearing the direness of the situation he knew he couldn't survive if he made his own clan of mice, "Lionstar, wait! I would like to apologize for walking upon your territory, please take me back to Windclan."

Entering into the leader's den without invitation always felt like trespass but now more than ever it felt like stepping into the lion's maw thanks to whatever Lionstar perceived between Sootflare and Fawnsqueak. There were things to discuss, however, and the deputy hoped they could put that issue aside for a moment in order to finally resolve the matter of Mossypaw's rank.

"Lionstar?"

Aahh, there it was. Maybe this kit wasn't so blatantly stupid after all.

Looking back at Mousekit, Lionstar beckoned him to follow as he headed out of the den. "Stay close or I'll be glad to have the hawks take you."

Finally, some peace and quiet.

Or so Lionstar thought, until Sootflare barged in and he scowled. At least it wasn't some dimwit warrior pestering him, although right now he wasn't sure if Sootflare was better than that. "Sootflare, what do you want?"

This was making Lionstar perk up, annoyed more than he was upset. All thoughts of Fawnsqueak were pushed to the back of his mind for right now.

"Coyotes don't use claws, stupid." That was the first flaw of her argument he felt like touching upon, and he snorted softly. "Wormpaw, Goosepaw, the rest-- at least half those cats spend the coyote invasion trying to protect your worthless hide while you tried to make WindClan's camp a Starsdamned medical center! Emberfang and Quailsnap just needed some cobwebs to tide them over until they could be returned to camp, they didn't need a full treatment then and there. At no point should you waste precious time slapping on every herb you can in the midst of a battlefield. It is reckless and puts far more cats in danger because you're spending too much time on details that could be touched upon later."

He snorted loudly at the mention of Fawnsqueak. "RiverClan has basically been without an official healer as it is! And I know sure as all hell Fawnsqueak would be able to handle his training and taking care of the Clan. That's why I made him your apprentice. I know he can own his role and better.

"He's twice the cat you'll ever be, and you need to step it the hell up if you seriously want me to consider keeping you as our healer. You haven't just disappointed me, Otterstone. You've disappointed the patients who relied on you, and the Clan. If they can't take you seriously, why should I."

Part of him wanted to apologize for the intrusion but the voice in the back of his seemed to decide that would only make his attitude worse. Perhaps he should set up some sort of... inquiry station outside of the den to keep empty-headed warriors from bothering Lionstar with idiotic requests and souring his mood.

"I wanted to talk to you about Mossypaw's rank." he began, taking a cautious step forward and settling onto his haunches, tail curling over his paws, "He's made quite a bit of progress."

Ah, that guy.

Lionstar almost forgot about him and his little.. outburst. "Has he?" Admittedly, he was a little skeptical if only because it seemed like something he, himself, would do: pretend to change to weasel out of a punishment.

"Do you think.." he weighed his words carefully, "in the event he received his name again.. and was given an apprentice, he would be capable of actually training the apprentice?"

With that question, he paused to consider Lionstar for a moment. It was a valid concern. Would he be able to pull his own weight if he was returned his rank or would he just go back to his old ways? Sootflare didn't want the tom to be a disappointment - if Mossy was, at least part of the blame would fall on him for not doing a good enough job - but something told him it was going to work out.

"I... believe so, yes. We've talked some about his old apprentice and I think we reached an understanding. Not to mention he did quite well when I asked him to help out with the swimming lessons."
