Shadekit looked up at Dawnstar, her call reverberating through camp. She slunk over to the gathering crowd, her sleek fur rippling under her pelt. She had groomed herself so her pelt shone, as today was an important day. She found a spot in the shadows, letting her black pelt blend in with the black shadows, until she was nearly invisible. Soon she'd join everyone else. It was time. Finally. She was going to be apprenticed today. She sunk her claws in the dirt. She had been waiting, waiting for this moment. Now she can finally contribute to the clan. She would be important.

Cold, hard determination seeped through her. She would do everything in her ability to become a great warrior. To finally be noticed, important. She scanned the crowd, wondering who her mentor would be. Hopefully someone who would train her hard. She did not want to be weak. She wanted to be strong. And she will be.

She would wait until Dawnstar called her name, she decided, to step out of the shadows. It was symbolic, really. After being in the darkness for so long, waiting and watching, she would finally be doing, stepping out. She would show her stupid sister and her stupid mother that she is important. She is. She'd be the best apprentice, then the best warrior. Maybe she'd even become leader. One thing at a time, she chided herself. No time to dream of the future. There is only now. But eventually. Maybe.

Once again, it's time for his favorite: a meeting. Mosquitokit pads in with the rest of the congregating masses, not even flinching at the closeness anymore. He likes being near his clanmates, he's come to realize; likes to see them up close and watch them move and talk amongst themselves. He still hasn't gotten the hang of not looking like he's obviously gawking at everyone, but who knows when he'll get there?

Right now's a time for the usual big, bug-eyed stares and no tact at all.

Wormkit came running out of the nursery at full speed, was this finally it? his meal ticket to freedom? He took a deep breath before finding a spot next to Wildpaw. It wrapped it's tail neatly around itself, grinning widely at her.

It was pretty sure this was the meeting that'd make him an apprentice, finally freeing him from the confines of the nursery. He was visibly excited, struggling to keep still as he waited to hear more from the leader.

"Hey!" He whispered out to her, as he looked around at the gathering cats around him "I'm so excited, I can't wait to be an apprentice" He said, feeling as if it'd been forever since the last meeting.

Cherrywood had been sleeping when Dawnstar's yowl echoed across camp. The dark ginger calico warrior yawned, rising to her paws she padded to the Grimpeak.

Her blue gaze swept across camp, locating her sister from across the clearing she made her way over, sitting a small distance away.

She gave a small nod in greeting "Hello Salmonshade, What do you think this meeting's about?" The Shadowclan warrior asked in a hushed tone, glancing curiously at her half-sister.

A rather tired looking grey molly emerged from the warrior’s den. Her tummy had been rather weak as of late, and she wanted nothing more than to sleep at odd hours of the day. It was rather frustrating, actually, since she already felt useless around the clan. She took up a position near the side of the group, beginning to groom her pristine fur softly while awaiting the announcements.

FOXFURY

Ooh, she knew that voice. Foxfury strutted over, glancing up at the leader with bold orange eyes. Wow, she was preggo. Not that she hadn’t been before, but it was much more noticeable now. The black and orange she-cat crouched near the front, watching attentively. Since the last meeting she’d only been assigned one patrol, but it had given her an excellent feel for the territory. She wanted another official one, plus the hunting one Dawnstar had prescribed, but unfortunately her easily irritable mentor had been otherwise occupied as of late. Perhaps with that poor molly he was so obviously deceiving. Not her problem. But she did want to pester him about lessons…and perhaps about his silly name as well.

Hemlockleaf perked his ears at Dawnstar's call. He got up from where he was basking and trotted over, sitting amongst his clanmates. Looking at Dawnstar with a curious gaze.

Embercloud lifted her head, padding out of the nursery and sitting by the entrance. She looked over her shoulder for Beetlekit, blinking at her encouragingly to let her know she could come sit next to her if she wanted, brushing her tail against the ground to clear a space for her.

squirrelrise's ears perk at the familiar voice of dawnstar ringing throughout the camp. she feels her pelt bristle and tail threaten to fluff up. normally, she wouldn't be so jittery, but her leader sounds angrier than usual. had her clanmates caused trouble? a border issue? hopefully we aren't moving camps again, the russet warrior thinks, brows pinching momentarily. she shakes her head, brushing off the possibility of moving once more.

rising from where she sits in the mouth of the warrior's den, she pads over to the grimpeak and takes a seat near the back of the forming crowd. she hopes there's no bad news, but she knows that there will most likely be a pawful of it.

curled in his nest, quillpaw's ears twitch at the sound of his grandmother's call. amber-blue eyes narrow as he stands, stretching his limbs. striding to the grimpeak, the tabby pushes past the throng of his clanmates so he can seat himself near the front. though, even as his mismatched gaze lands on his grandmother, his mind seems to be wandering off somewhere else.
