Her paws trudged along the lengthy grass clinging to the strands of her fur, their gleaming eyes flashing behind them. She watched the little bodies moving along side her, or so, they hoped they were keeping up. The sun was barely peeking above the horizon as they moved about the unknown lands, and the queen looked less than pleased.
She had roused her kittens that morning before daybreak, begrudgingly feeding due to complaints before setting off on this journey; it had been a waste of time and energy, but what else could she do when the greedy things were hungry. Her tail lashed, their pace slowed and their tail moved to nudge one the kits ahead, not wanting any of them to fall behind.
Sometimes her mind wandered back to the easier life they could have had, if it wasn't for this new responsibility. A heave sigh escaped her maw. "Keep moving, we've a lot of ground to cover."
She reminded the littles, eyeing them with serious glint. She'd have to carry some of them if their little les
Phantom

Tall grass obscured part of her vision, as tine paws fervently tapped the ground to keep up pace with mother. She stretched out her head, trying to reach tall to look over the thick strands to little avail, not wanting to fall behind. Mother had been moving them around often since they could walk, but the kitten found that this had to be the furthest place yet.
Phantom rapidly blinked against the sun, cream ears perked to catch the sound of chipper birds and scurrying prey around them, speeding up to stand beside the eldest of the group. "But, mother, where 're going? I liked the last place."
And her paw pads hurt, but the kitten daren't complain further before... Oh.
Before she knew it, thick tears began blurring her vision and leaking down her face. Phantom always had been a crier among the littles, the tears soon obstructing her speed as little sobs built up in her throat. "Bwua?"
She cried and sniffled an indescribable sound, flapping tail urging her to try and keep up.

fen huffs as she cranes her neck, trying to peek over the tall blades of grass as the family travels along. she has been practically running trying to keep up with her mother's pace. though, she's gradually beginning to slow down, paws growing sore. she isn't surprised that they're in a journey again – mother's been walking them all around since they were old enough to waddle, it feels.
"yes, mother." she acquiesces, trying to quicken her pace. the sharpness in her voice and the knitting of her brows perhaps showed her displeasure with the situation. the last place they stayed at wasn't perfect by any means, but goodness, she'd like to stay somewhere for more than a sunrise or two. somewhere to call home.
her cool gaze slides over to her sister, brows further furrowing as she sees tears. fen slows down alongside phantom, trying to nudge her gently with her shoulder. "why are you crying?" she questions, staring at her sister with confusion. "do not. come on." she urges.

Interesting. Her paws hadn't hurt this much since... Since forever. Mirage couldn't remember the last time she had to walk this far. Where were they going anyways? Taking a moment to scan her surroundings, the cream kitten's eyes narrow at the unfamiliar place. Not very helpful. She frowned, glancing at her mother and her sisters, but her gaze fell on one of them in particular. Phantom.
Phantom had always been... Let's say... Similar to her in some ways, but different in more. She was quiet, shy, and timid. Meanwhile, Mirage was almost the complete opposite. Oh well, that was just how stuff works in life. But back to the real world. Mirage ran several scenarios in her head to prepare to say anything to her sister, who'd begun crying... For some reason, but Fen had beat her to it. Her other sister. Eh. Not that she minded, anyway. Now that Phantom was under Fen's attention, there was no need for herself to intervene.
With a trot, Mirage sped up her pace, catching up and walking beside her mother. Better be as near to her as possible to see what she needs from her. If mother needs anything, it will be her that would fulfill that need. She tore her gaze from her family and looked at the environment instead. Nice. It wasn't the most visually appealing place, but it didn't look like a disaster either. She spotted some cats here and there, and was pretty sure they received some glances or stares, but she'd rather shove her face in fish than care. She followed mother wordlessly, though her limbs were screaming at her to stop.

It felt like they had been walking for days with how bad her paws ached. The group had been walking since daybreak, when the sun crested and sent light cascading down onto the soil. But it had been so long since then, and Spector steadily grew tired.
It wasn’t just this journey she was tired of; moving around was becoming a reproachful event. The place they had just settled at hadn’t been perfect, but it was undoubtedly better than wondering where they would spend the night—having somewhere to snuggle up with her siblings to sleep without much worry.
Then again, much sleep wasn’t happening on this new trip.
Her ear flicked as she heard Phantom make a pitiful noise. Twisting her neck, Spector felt a frown pull at her maw as she slowed her steps to fall into place with Phantom and Fen. Confusion shone in her gaze, and a gentle nudge was given to Phantom’s shoulder—a silent communication to keep moving, to not fall behind the group.
Certainly, mama wouldn’t leave her, and she knew they all understood each other's exhaustion. But they also all had to keep up if they ever wanted this journey to end.
Sascha weaved through swathes of grasses, his whiskers twitching at each bird call, sound of the wind, or swish. Every brush of grass against his flank made him startle slightly, and his fur was on end.
Eventually, he found a mostly safe place to settle down. It seemed some other loner had cleared it in passing and now... he could stay for a spell. He sat carefully in the hollow under the cover of messily woven grasses, taking a break from the wind to collect himself before he went to gather materials to nest for a while. Not ideal, but he had grown tired of wandering. Maybe he would run into a new friend out here.

A cat came running across the road and into the grassy area, each long gallop heaving them further from the hisses and yowls behind. Had it not been for that close call with the car the tom would have been caught and shredded, so diving in front of it was a risk he was willing to take. Whatever trouble the car could do was nothing compared to what his attackers had in mind.
Long gallops turned to quick trots, and then even pads, before Morgan finally came to a heaving halt in the lush grass. He looked over his shoulder, across the road, seeing the group of cats lash their tails and throw a few threats before slinking back to where they had come from.
'Well, that was fun while it lasted.' The tom thought to himself, moving his eyes down to the scratches on his hind. He frowned at the the thought of the scars interrupting the pattern of his stripes.
'I need to find somewhere to get this cleaned up so it'll heal.' Morgan hoped, trudging loudly through the grasses. He knew he couldn't go back from where he came, and this place was safer than most, but he couldn't stay here long unless he planned to starve-
-The tom's nose wrinkled, interrupting his thoughts. Another cat?! And so close by! He had already given himself away with his recklessly loud footsteps!
Morgan mulled it over quickly before deciding to confront the cat first. Hopefully he could scare them off with intimidation and avoid a fight all together, though he knew if that didn't work he would have to put his weary legs back to running.
The tom slunk forward, his pelt blazing a bright orange in the sun as his head lowered down and moved around. His eyes, piercing slits, gradually coming across some strange looking grasses.
( @Peril I didn't know whether to call it a road or a thunderpath, so i just went with loner talk. Hope you don't mind!)

What was that. Were those... footsteps? The torbie's ears pinned to his head and he hunkered down, fur on end. What if the stranger was dangerous? What if he was in danger now?
There was a pause in the footsteps. Sascha froze as well. Oh, no. Oh, no, no, no. Was he in danger? He might as well surrender now, he wasn't really the best at fighting. He slunk forward, peeking around the side of his makeshift shelter.
"Hello?" He called in an anxious voice, his nose and whiskers twitching as he slowly stood and slunk out, looking the ginger tom up and down. Was he going to be aggressive? Sascha's claws flexed into the earth for a moment, a nervous habit of his.
(You're all good! Sorry my reply doesn't really match yours all the way, I tried to write as much as I could)

Adrenaline pricked through Morgan's ears as they swivelled to the call, his striped fur flicking up at the unexpected sight of this other cat. The tom's dark eyes searched efficiently, sizing up his potential opponent in his mind and wondering how fair the fight might be. A flurry of quick thoughts began to run through their mind,
'They moved out on their own accord, giving away their position with little resistance...' his fur flattened and head turned sideways, but his pupils stayed thin and fixed on the cat in front of him.
'They'd be easy to scare off...' Morgan's nose scrunched and his lip pulled back, letting sharp teeth peer through. Only a glimpse was given though, before they disappeared with another thought.
'...But they'd be better on my side.' The tom decided, thinking back to his wounds. If this cat was out here, there were probably others. He could use someone watching his back while he rested, and they didn't seem to want to fight either, from what he could see. Morgan hesitated a moment longer before his eyes flicked from side to side.
"Are you alone?" The loner quickly asked, his defensive stance not quite lowered yet.
(It's all good mate! I don't mind at all if it doesn't match, just write the way you want to. I love seeing the different way people approach making their stories! : D)

His ears twitched as he slowly rose to full height, which was fairly underwhelming. He did, afterall, still have the physical attributes of a she-cat. Which generally just made him smaller than most toms. He looked hesitant for a moment before answering.
"I am alone."
He tried his best not to allow his voice to crack or anything, but he was awful intimidated by the other cat. I mean, who wouldn't be? Certainly not this skinny, socially awkward tom. He was mildly chilled by the ginger cat's presence.
"Are you?" He inquired nervously, looking around the other tom in order to attempt to spot any other cats with him. He definitely didn't want this tom to attract any trouble. He didn't want to find a new place to stay the night.

"Very." The loner answered back, a sigh escaping from a breath he couldn't hold any longer. Usually he wouldn't be so hasty with such trust, but the other's answer satisfied some of his concerns for now. Perhaps it was the tom's smaller size, or maybe Morgan's weary state was clouding his better judgement.
The defensive stance of the loner eased back slightly, as he looked up at the tom again. Actually, this tom was smaller than most. Unusual for a loner without a group, though Morgan was no ideal loner either, being weaker than most.
"Why are you out here?" Came the question. He wondered how they looked so well off compared to him in spite of being a loner, perhaps they were a kittypet?
