Sparrowskip ran to the meeting just in time to hear.. Beanpaw getting promoted? He used to have a crush on that dude, maybe they coulda been something if he hadn't been promoted.
"Beansprout! Beansprout!" He chanted. The guy deserved it.

Snakepaw wrapped himself around his mother rasping a comforting tongue over her shoulder as he internally panicked over how to even help here. He resolved to viciously glare at the others that may glance over as his mothers crying (though they seemed distracted by another announcement Snakepaw promptly ignored) and to quietly ask "Whats wrong? Is there anything I can do to help? I can listen or just hug you, whatever you want."

Foxblaze smiled at Snakepaw through her tears, oh thanks Starclan for this boy. A true gift from them. She thought to herself. “Sugarapple raised me, I just, I didn’t get to say goodbye.” She mewed slowly, holding back more than one sob.

So Sugarapple (Snakepaw didnt recognise the name) was Foxblazes Mom? His grandmother? Or was she like a mother figure to his mother like Foxblaze was to Twigpaw? The young tom was full of questions about this molly but now wasnt the time to ask questions it was time to comfort his mom. But how? ....
"Im sorry that sounds awful. It sounds like you cared for her a lot and Im sure she knew that when she went and would have wanted you to be happy even when she was gone. I dont know if thats any comfort but even if its not Im here ok? Im not gonna leave you." Snakepaw purred lightly as he rubbed his head against her shoulder.

A flicker of guilt ignited in Fawnsqueak as he realized his singular interaction with Sugarapple wasn't one he had the joy of remembering fondly. His stomach twisted at that, gaze sifting through the crowd on instinct for Otterstrike in case she'd be among the faces but just as before, there was no sign of her. He bit the inside of his cheek as an image of Sugarapple, weakened by greencough, still managed to rip his heart to shreds as she graciously thanked him for treatment never received until nearly too late.

By the time he was listening again, it'd seemed Sootstar had moved on. Which was... practical, he guessed, but his perception of the meeting had been dampened. He hoped none of the cats receiving their ceremonies felt similarly, forever bonded to this awful event every time they thought back on a day supposed to be celebratory.

In keeping with the lighter parts of the meeting, Fawnsqueak chimed in with his clanmates to congratulate them nonetheless.

He would wait for the congratulations to start dying down before he continued, "We have a couple of apprentices in need of reassignments."

"Springpaw [ @Cougar ], your new mentor will be Flamebriar [ @Angelique ]."

"Blizzardsky [ @Zesty Mango ], you will be taking over Jaggedpaw's [ @Lionblaze2008 ] training."

"Primrosepaw [ @Estelle ], your new mentor will be Splashleap [ @gs29513 ]."

"Featherpaw [ @thelabradorr ], Littlemist [ @rosetherosey ] will be your new mentor."

"Bugpaw [ @Angelique ], Creekheart [ @Gabriel23 ] will be your new mentor."

"Lastly, Lizardfrost [ @Shadeleaf ] recently rejoined us but I determined the circumstances of their disappearance to be an extreme act of negligence and lack of forethought. As such, they have been demoted to Lizardpaw. Foxblaze [ @Exis ] you will not be teaching her as she has already completed her training but you will be her chaperone. She is not to leave camp without the company of a warrior."

Littlemist looked up, his eyes widening. An apprentice? Oh well. More duties to take on. Featherpaw seemed nice. Although, that didn't seem like it would mix well. Whatever though, that's just something that comes with being a clan cat. He got up and went over to greet his new apprentice. Hopefully, Halfnose wouldn't mind this newfound responsibility. Littlemist walked over to Featherpaw at a slow pace. Hoping now to draw any attention to himself. "So you must be Featherpaw?" Littlemist said looking at the apprentice calmly.

Lizardpaw, formerly Lizardfrost, didn't understand emotions very much. She was always determined to be the best, always training, always satisfied so long as she did her duties and improved. A brilliant mind and a simple motivation. But ever since her demotion she felt strange. Bad. Sadness was new to her and though she still hadn't cried a single time in her life, she felt like she might. And now there was shame. Something Lizardpaw was more familiar with. She felt it whenever she failed at anything. She turned to Foxblaze, her poison green eyes losing their icy quality and becoming oddly dull.

Jaggedpaw gulped. Blizzardsky was a very popular cat, and the thought being his apprentice made Jaggedpaw nervous. What if he messed up? The golden - ginger tom suddenly felt very shy. But instead of running to hide, he walked up to his new mentor and touched his nose.
