Tired. So tired. It wasn't like the work of an apprentice was any more draining than that of a warrior. Honestly, it was probably much easier. No long patrols in the territory or chasing down frogs or cleaning mud out of her fur. Just the thought of those things had her shuddering. The grey molly was trembling just dragging a pine branch across the clearing. This was not a usual occurrence. Even though the she-cat was on the petite side, she usually had no issue with physically demanding tasks such as this. But her nerves were wearing thin. Between the nightmares, the lack of sleep, the discomfort of being in her old den, and the guilt of her failure, Raspberrypaw was at her wit's end.

But she was determined to get this done. Her demotion was almost over, and hopefully the return to the warrior's den would help her sleep schedule. As she approached the nursery, she arched her neck, drawing the branch of leaves across her body and in between the den and her paws. Sighing deeply, she began to strip the twigs from the main branch, prioritizing the ones with leaves that would provide shade and protection for the queens and kits. Soon enough, a pile of flexible green twigs and leaves formed.

Working methodically, the demoted warrior began to patch up the walls of the den. Being a little taller than most of the apprentices who usually did this task, she was able to get up on her hind legs and reach some of the spots that lacked even coverage. Carefully, trying not to fall asleep, she wove the branches into the existing frame. It was repetitive work, but the tedious movements kept her mind numb, and it was easy enough to fall into a rhythm.

Once the work was complete, Raspberrypaw took the stripped branch between her jaws and dragged it away, ready for a nap.

Shadekit glanced up, startled. She looked at the cat who was suddenly next to her - Tigerpaw, she'd called herself - and blinked. It wasn't easy to sneak up on her, but she had zoned out. Why does this cat want to talk to me? An apprentice, she guessed. What would an apprentice be doing in the nursery? she thought. "I'm... I'm Shadekit," she mewed eventually, still gazing up at her. She'd never talked to an actual apprentice before.

Shadekit blinked. Tigerpaw knew Wildkit? And she wanted to play? An apprentice? Why would apprentices play? Maybe they do have some free time, she thought. Should I refuse? She isn't normally fond of games, usually content to sit and watch and think. But... This is an apprentice. Her first real meeting of an apprentice. Maybe she should make an exception... It's strategic to, she thought. She knew what (NPC sister) would say. That it's good for me. To actually have some fun, instead of sitting around all day. I do have fun, she'd always reply, but (NPC sister) never seems convinced. She blinked, realizing that Tigerpaw was still waiting for an answer. "Okay," she accepted.
