A cat was the side of the coast, holding a small kit in her jaws. The cat was a blue-eyed gray tabby, and the kit was blue-gray and blue-eyed. The cat holding the kit looked around tensely. She had a job to do, the cat did. She'd have to get it done quickly. She opened her jaws, letting the kit fall out of her hold in into the water. She then slammed her right front paw down on the submerged kit, holding the female kit under the water easily. This should be easy, the cat thought. It won't take too long, since this is a young cat..... meanwhile, the young kit, who looked about 2 moons old, struggled vainly under the paw of the older, bigger cat.

The cat drowning the kit didn't hear the call for the meeting, but continued to hold down the struggling youngster under the water. The kit briefly managed to get out from under the paws of the bigger cat, and cried out in panic. The older cat looked around, and saw no one, and went right back to drowning the kit. The kit held her breath, thinking it might help. But not forever......

Opalkit perked his ears, eyes wide with excitement. He stepped out of the crowd and beamed proudly at the leader.

Sharkscale sat down next to Fluffy bunny. They hoped that they would be chosen to mentor Opalkit.

Fluffybunny watched her sisters call, she'd always sat a bit close to the side, usually bounding up to her sister straight after meetings. Watching Fallingstar Fluffybunny's oddly long, pure white tail flipped around her paws, the little bit of it left on the side curled into a neat circle. Fluffybunny was known for being quiet and gentle. Though as the wave-guard examined her clanmates, she looked for any imperfections, slouching, scornful looks from one another. Glares or glances. Anything. And as always, Fluffybunny was always open to go to for problems, huntning. You name it she can help you. Extra training? With Fallingstar and your mentors permission you got it.

May StarClan honor your training, and May the tides be on your side.” Fallingstar smiled at the young cat, and nodded as the cheers echoed throughout the gathered cats. Next.

“Beachpaw. You have succeeded in your training, and StarClan honors your braver, skill, and determination. You will be a brilliant warrior. From this day on, you will be known as Beachbreak. May the waters guide you, and May the sea be kind.” she touched her tail to the new warrior’s shoulder, and licked his forehead kindly. She then turned to the Clan and took in a big intake of breath.

“I have one last announcement to make. Five moons ago, Wavestar was killed by a vicious canine. His deputy at the time, was me. I ascended to leadership, but was distant, as my greatest friend…maybe more…had left our world. Falling took in a deep breath. “I shut myself away. I almost never talked. Until I came out of my shell and appointed by brother, Sunglare, as deputy. I lived again. Then… he drowned. And I disappeared inside my little hole of despair again.” Falling grimaced. “I’m sorry. I was a horrible leader. I hope I can redeem myself.”

Falling smiled, and dipped her head. She jumped down from the Kelpledge and padded into her den.

Fluffybunny cheered for the new cats. Racing to her sisters side after her sad to hear finish. Bumping her head lightly in there greeting Fluffybunny mewed. "your not a horrible leader. Grief is a normal and perfectly ok thing... it doesn't make you a bad leader for showing your true feelings. Me and the clan are all here for you." Fluffybunny purred gently

The kit being drowned let out a high-pitched squeal, one that echoed up to the gathered cats, althouth neither the she-cat or the she-kit knew they were there. The she-kit was pushed back under the water.
