Dawnstar lifted her head and stared eerily at the mouth of her den where the light streamed through. The Clan leader was processing a lot and she really wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone at the moment. However, her ears remained solely focused on the paw steps wandering outside of her den. It took a bit longer to set in, the death that is, she had been channeling her excitement and enjoyment of battle and reeling from the fact that in truth she had no one to rely on but herself not even her kin cared once they left this realm.
So it was a lot for her to deal with, but now that it's gotten a bit quieter and she was stuck in her own head, Dawnstar's anxious paranoia caught up with her. It was going to take a bit till it settled into something more manageable, however for the time being she was on edge about everyone even her own clanmate. She hated being jumpy, yet it wasn't something he could consciously control. The she-cat felt her muscles stiffen underneath her dark brown coat and in turn pain jolted through her nerves with the tension. The call of duty had startled the molly, she growled silently while carefully rocking onto her paws.
Once she was up, the claw marks in her stomach screech at her to move and her shoulder throbbed reminding her to be careful with it. "Enter Darkfall." Dawnstar ordered, lacking the desire to actually talk to the warrior outside of her den. She tried to get comfortable in her nest, but sitting upright proved to cause issues with that. As to distract herself from the need to itch at her facial wounds, she picked up a forepaw and began cleaning it while waiting for Darkfall to begin explaining himself.
"Of course you did," Dawnstar grunted in response to Quietwing's answer. "Don't go wandering around ThunderClan's border on your own from now, and check in with Elmshadow for your wounds. I'll figure out how to deal with ThunderClan in the meantime. Dimissed."
Dawnstar scowl intensive after Shadefrost mentioned Herondive Hollow, ThunderClan's border. She could only imagine what Shadefrost was doing messing around that border by himself. It wasn't hard to tell that the tom was doing what he could do to get back into her good graces, that he was just being reckless again. It was hard to tell with Shadefrost. He wasn't the tom that she had originally thought he was, but that was because he knew to behave around her that or he actually respected her. Whatever the reason, she wished he was more like this with all his clanmates.
As the kit meowed, Dawnstar turned and glanced at the puny thing. With the losses ShadowClan's been suffering, it wasn't bright to turn away new blood regardless of where it came from. Even if the cat proved to be a mediocre warrior, it was still another warrior to fill her ranks. She decided to ignore Shadefrost for the time being and focus on the kit, she wasn't keeping something that didn't want to be here.
"You're in my camp," Dawnstar told the kit. "Shadefrost found with something tethered around your neck, I am assuming you passed out due to the lack of air." She snorted dully. "I don't like wasting my time, so here's the deal assuming you have nowhere to go and no one to rely on, you can stay here within my clan otherwise I'm having him," She waved her tail towards the dark warrior. "Drop you back out into the wilderness, you can figure out what you wanna do with your life then."
[We can wrap this up with your next post if you'd like]
What was with his tongue? Dawnstar pondered it curiously in an attempt to amuse herself as she watched Mousepaw follow her instructions. She didn't get why he needed his tongue to stick out like that it's not like it helped with concentration... right? Some of her younger cats had such strange little quirks. She heard the sound of something small breaking and drew her gaze back to the mouse, noticing he had more or less used far too much strength when trying to remove the pelt. She grunted low in the back of her throat in acknowledgment of the mistake but didn't seem all that troubled by it. It was a lesson learned.
The disappointment on Mousepaws face came and went like a breeze. He seemed too uppity to be brought down by such a mistake. Honestly, personality-wise Dawnstar didn't understand how Mousepaw would grow up into a true ShadowClan warrior. He just seemed too innocent and naive, Starrypaw was similar to him. She wondered if he and she would remain within the clan once they understood just how ruthless and cruel the clan she was run was.
"Do keep practicing, but don't waste any fresh kill," Dawnstar replied to the enthusiastic apprentice. "I'd love to receive your first pelt, I enjoy adding gifts to my collections and watching my apprentices improve." She smirked. "Now off you go, you can leave the mouse. I'll eat it." Mice were not filling in the slightest for someone of her size, but he already made a mess in her den so she didn't see the point in him taking it with him.
Stretching out her long muscular legs, Dawnstar's tattered ears swerved, follow by her amber eyes, towards the opening of her den. She listened quietly for a moment until she heard the meow calling out for her attention. "Come in Darkcloud," Dawnstar replied, delighted to see that Darkcloud had learned not to go wandering into her den without permission. "What do you need?"
"O-Oh, okay."*Cola seemed quite Naive and caring, but deep inside him was a fury waiting to be unleashed in combat.*
Green hues brightened with unfiltered glee at the leader's admission. She would like to receive his first pelt?! He could squeal in joy! He wouldn't, of course, but... it took some will power. Instead, the young apprentice settled for stomping his feet on the ground, a purr of delight rumbling in his throat.
It would take time, oh yes. He wasn't some prey waster, hmph, hmph! And! And... he liked toad too much to only eat the furrier variety of prey. But he could always sacrifice the occassional, delicious toad or salamander for a mouse or two. Practice practice, yes yes. Until he could give Bigmum the absolute bestest pelt he could get! Victory!
"Oh yes, oh yes! I will, mmhmm. No worries, no worries. I will only practice when I am going to eat, yes yes. That way, nothing will go to waste. Nope! You'll see, though! You'll see! I'll bring you the best skinned pelt ever! Mmmhmm."
Eagerly getting up on his white tipped paws, the apprentice proceeded to rush out, eager to tell his mum and his Fuzzy and his Auntie Larky and... well, everyone, really, how he'd been taught how to skin by Dawnstar herself. Heh heh! And and, he had to tell Wrenny that she had been right, oh yes. Bigmum really was the nicest! And super fun too, yayayayayay!
Eyes growing wide, Mousepaw stopped in his tracks. Wait. Wait wait wait! Oh nooo. He had been super duper rude. Here Bigmum was being super awesome and nice and helping him, and he hadn't even said thank you! How dare he? For shame! Mum would be mad if she found out he hadn't been polite. And he was always polite. Yes!
Turning around, the stocky apprentice gave the colossal molly a big, beaming grin, eyes closed as his smile went from ear to ear with joy. "Thank you, thank you, Dawnstar! You're the best! See you next time, see you next time! Bai bai!" he chirped, a small chortle escaping him as he quickly resumed his outing, eager to share the events of his day with his family and friends.

Upon receiving permission, Darkfall silently padded into the den and dipped his head slightly in introduction. The black tom’s eyes were drawn to the large she-cat and the fresh wounds that now littered her pelt, but he quickly brought his gaze up to her amber eyes. ”Thank you Dawnstar,” He said ”I hope your wounds are healing well and wish you a speedy recovery.”
Taking a second to compose himself, the tom began with his recollection. ”Dawnstar, as I’m sure you’ve noticed, I spent some time away from the camp and clan,” Darkfall started cautiously ”The reason behind this is because my apprentice - Moonpaw - had gone missing and I took it upon myself to search for her.” He paused for a moment before continuing, ”Following her scent, I spent some time out in the territory and searched some of the outskirts around the clan but was unable to find her. I even checked the borders shared with the other clans to see if she may have gone to one of them, but was unable to find a trace of her.” Truth be told, the tom was still quite upset over this fact. He had grown to like the young she-cat who was assigned to him and had begun to see her as a little sister of sorts and was excited to see how much she would grow. None of that mattered anymore because she was gone.
Realizing that some of his emotions may have been leaking out onto his face, Darkfall schooled his features into neutrality. ”I recognize that it would have been proper protocol to inform you or an enforcer first, but I figured time would be of the essence and went out alone while her scent still lingered,” he said, dipping his head. ”In addition, I also felt it was my responsibility as a mentor to look for the young cat that you put in my care.” This was the main reason he had gone, personal feelings aside, he had a duty and a responsibility to keep his apprentice out of trouble and he had failed to do so.
Raising his head to look back at the hulking form of his leader, he steeled himself for what was next. ”I apologize for my shortcomings as a mentor, and for being unable to make use of the opportunity you had given me.” And with that, Darkfall was done with his explanation. He kept the summary brief and concise so as not to use up too much the leader’s time.

Dawnstar wasn't growing bored of this interaction, nothing about this kit was all that interesting. Not memorable about aside from where he was found. "Since you were found by the squirrels' border, Squirrelkit seemed like a good name for you." Dawnstar yawned and then swung her large head towards Shadefrost.
"You go take him to the nursery and tell Nightshiver to help look after him. And I don't want you going by Sedgewater Valley on your own, I've more than enough cats dead over there." Dawnstar meowed. Shadefrost might have made an ass of himself and obtained the leader's disappointment. But the mistake didn't take away the fact that he was a clanmate. She'd be enraged if she lost any more clanmates to ThunderClan's greedy claws.

Dawnstar twitched her tatters ears in response to the show of gratitude and the comment. She was more interested in learning why he was visiting instead of exchanging pleasantries. She frowned just a bit fiercer as his absence is brought up, she despised absent warriors, cats who swore them themselves to the clan only to have so little show for it. Cats who turn their back on their clan for whatever reason were never to be trusted when it came to loyalty. It seemed the apprentice was his excuse, something she's heard warriors use countless times. It was getting frustrating.
Dawnstar has stated quite clearly that if cats wanted to actively search for the missing she had nothing against it so long as they asked before vanishing. It was worse when they left without a word. Even though the apologies were heard it was clear from the dark expression on Dawnstar's face that she wasn't willing to sweep this under the moss. It wasn't as bad, as she's heard worst, but it still bugged her immensely.
"I don't like it. I can understand your sense of responsibility for your apprentice, even respect it, but not to the point that it results you in neglecting the clan that you swore to serve." She spoke in a throaty growl. "And certainly not to the point where you fail to tell others of your whereabouts. Taking a few moments to ask for permission instead of just leaving would not have been that difficult. I am irked with your shortcomings as a warrior over as a mentor." She did feel like she was entitled to be a little irritated here.
"I'll let this go this once, Darkfall. Should you find yourself in this situation again report and ask before doing as you please. I will not be so forgiving a second time." It wasn't that he went looking for his former apprentice that was wrong, it was how he went about it that bothered her. She hoped he understood that. She gave swish of her tail dismissing him if he had nothing more to add.

The leader's nose twitched as she caught the scent of blood mixed with herbs upon her entry. Her jeweled amber eyes scanned the warrior until she located the poultice on her front leg and the mild scratch etched into her cheek. She didn't need to ask as Darkcloud swiftly explained what happened. Dawnstar's eyes darkened at the mention of ThunderClan, and then a little bit at the mention that the cat was dead. "Wonderful," She meowed mood just a tad bit brighter knowing there was one less ThunderClan rat to worry about. "Did anyone see you and where did you leave the body?"

Entering the camp after burying Sweetpaw. The trek back making haunt’s paws ache slightly, the massive cat locates the leader’s den. She must have retreated to here, hm. Haunt barely enters the den’s entrance to report haunt’s task as done and to ask the ‘Star something else. “Sweetpaw. Buried at Moonlit grove. Also. Question.” The cats deeper voice halting as haunt cleared haunt’s throat quietly. “Host an event, I’m asking. Clan is low on prey, it would provide teamwork environment and more prey for us,” Green and orange eyes locating her amber ones. Hm. The large cat didn’t enter any further, it would be disrespectful. But haunt sat down in the entrance, off to side encase she wished to leave. Houndhunter flicked haunt’s tail tip, as haunt waited for a response before wrapping it neat around haunt’s paw. The large tabby could either shut the idea down or approve it. Either way, to either answer, Houndhunter would take it as it was. There was no need to bicker about it if she denied haunt the privilege to do so.
Her gaze was drawn to the heavy-set cat that set foot within her den without prior warning, Usually, that would have resulted in an ear-shredding, but upon recognizing the massive, scarred warrior, Dawnstar relaxed her tense body. Houndhunter must be here for a report, and as expected she got one not long after haunt entered. She nods in a nonverbal reply to the task being finished and tips her head curiously at the mention of a question.
"Hmm, looks like you remedy a problem I was trying to sort." She replied, noting how Houndhunter made a point of not fully entering the den and leaving wide open space for her to pass by if she choose to leave. She wouldn't say it was comforting, but it eased her paranoia immensely. Dawnstar noted that haunt had made note of the lack of prey in ShadowClan as well. It wasn't the biggest thing, but among the lazy, incompetent, mousebrains that settled in ShadowClan, it meant something to her.
Dawnstar had been planning to hold a frog hunting event to remedy the prey problem, she wasn't sure how well the members in her clan hunt frogs, and frogs were meant to be a primary source of prey to those of the shadows, another forgotten skill that she should be making sure was taught. But with the wounds and the mud, she didn't want cats getting infected and causing issues for Elmshadow, especially with how hard he had to work now with no apprentice to back him up. So that idea was put on hold.
Houndhunter saved her from trying to figure out something else to hunt; and freed up some time for her to track down something more important by wanting to host the event hauntself. She'd see about replacing the missing Sorrelfur with Houndhunter. She needed a useful cat to replace the missing Enforcer. Houndhunter and two other cats had caught her attention, it would be nice if she could fill the Enforcer rank.
"You can hold the event if you'd like, mind the apprentices if you're adding them," Dawnstar told Houndhunter, waiting to see if haunt had anything else to tell her.

Stopping and listening to the large Shecat as haunt waited for her response. Ah, haunt had forgotten to mention haunt’s co-host in this event. Speaking deeply as haunt added it to the conversation before haunt elaborated on the event so the leader was in the complete loop. “Dogpaw, in charge of apprentices team, teams split of warriors (and queens) against apprentices. Team with the highest number of points (prey) wins first pick…? Reasonable prize?” Asking for her criticism on the prize, truly, most cats don’t enjoy working without some sort of reward. Houndhunter remained still, trying not to raise the shecat’s alarm with any sudden movements.
Houndhunter’s eyes examined the den, one litter with bones, and pelts of the fallen. It was truly interesting to say the least. Was her nest also lined with a few unique pelts? Poor unfortunate cats, they most likely deserved it though. You cross a line, Shadowclan crosses it tenfold, haunt guessed. The warrior’s head turning back to the slightly smaller shecat, orange and green eyes scanning her up and down. She seemed fine, physically at least. Hm. Letting her speak again before chiming in when she finished. “yes, starved clan is bad clan,” Mewing towards her, flat toned. Clearing haunt’s throat before speaking again shortly. “You are thanked, apprentices will be handled, I can assure you with that”
Signaling a desire to get this event started with a faint flick of the tail. It would provide the clan with something to keep them busy and the whole place with something to eat, Houndhunter slowly selected the location for this event. The main territory seemed good enough for a large scale event, if not, haunt could always send the warriors team to two separate locations like the heartlands or shadow’s break. It would clear both areas of pests, perhaps while Dogpaw handled the apprentices. Houndhunter was sure a few warriors could handle being sent out to the other places alone.

The Toyger let out a soft huff as Dawnstar rested her head on his flank, but made no move to actually do anything about it. "Of course, M'Love. I'm at your service."
At her question Slytiger tilted his head, his brows furrowing in thought. He could vaguely remember the warm bodies of other kittens surrounding him when he was only two seasons old, but nothing after that.
"I think I did, but upwalkers are weird. After I was weaned I remember traveling to a different den where I lived for a bit before becoming a rogue. I've heard from other kittypets that many twolegs separate siblings once they're weaned from their mother. Kinda sad, honestly. What about you? Did you have any siblings?"
Darkcloud remained emotionless at Dawnstar's comment though the dark she-cat was thankful the her leader wasn't mad "I don't think so and I left her where I killed her I thought a fox would finish her" she said calmly silently hoping that Dawnstar was fine with that.

"Yes ma'am I will, said Shadefrost with the dip of his head. His smile was a little bigger now. He was happy that Squirrelkit had chosen to stay. If he hadn't he would have taken him out of his leaders den and killed him. It wasn't like the kit would've survived long or anything like that, so ending any future suffering he would eventually had to endure seemed like the merciful thing to do. But thankfully that wouldn't be happening. Taking the young kit by the scruff of his neck, shade turned toward the exit and walked out, his tail held high as he did so.
@Undertaker @LongForgottenSnowyPelt
(Later on I'm going to have shade come back in here like "Oh I forgot something", because I have him in a plot that requires him to be passed the Thunderclan border.)

Darkfall calmly listened to what Dawnstar had to say about his disappearance. It was clear as day that the leader was not happy with the way he went about things and he believed it to be perfectly justified. He had been wrong. The dark tabby should have spoken to either her or one of the enforcers before heading out and he failed to do so, so he understood why she was frustrated. Hell, he’d be pretty upset too if he had to lead a clan and one of his warriors failed to make their whereabouts known before heading off.
”I understand Dawnstar, I appreciate your mercy this time and will be sure to go through the proper procedure should a similar incident happy again in the future,” He said, dipping his head. He was glad that the cat in front of him hadn’t lashed out at him for his failure in this instance and he wasn’t sure if it was because she was in a slightly good mood or if that was just what she had been feeling in the moment. ”Going forward, I will be sure to do a much better job of keeping my duties as a warrior and not allow personal opinions or feelings get in the way of that.” And with that, Darkfall dipped his head once more before turning and heading out of the den.

Oh, so haunt was having an apprentice help haunt, Dogpaw at that. Dawnstar had been worried that she might have to retire that one early to the elder's den after the stunt that idiot had pulled, but the tom had bounced back rather well. He was far more resilient than others. He must take after his kin. Who knows maybe in time he'd be joining the enforcers as he grew, it seemed fitting for one of Elmshadow's kits to finally truly make something of themselves.
As Houndhunter explained how he was planning to play the game and that he was enticing a prize at the end... The leader cocks her head as she's asked what the warrior should give. After a long thought, she shrugs her shoulders. "I can't say, different cats like different things. Why not ask the winner what they want and if it's reasonable enough I can help acquire it if needed." Dawnstar didn't like playing games for prizes, the satisfaction of winning should be enough but again different cats like different things.
Her whiskers flicker as she noticed Houndhunter's eyes lingering on her. She wasn't sure what haunt was looking for or at, but it bothered her. It was nothing personal, Dawnstar didn't like being stared at it felt like she was being examined and taken apart. She couldn't have that. Thankfully, before she got too antsy, Houndhunter responded breaking the way haunt was watching her. "I'll take your word for it." She replied and then shifted her tremendous weight in between her front paws. "Is there anything else?" Dawnstar asked giving Houndhunter the chance to excuse hauntself if there was nothing more.
The Toyger let out a soft huff as Dawnstar rested her head on his flank, but made no move to actually do anything about it. "Of course, M'Love. I'm at your service."

Her tail swayed back and forth lazily as she soaked up the strange solace Slytiger brought. Perhaps she really did miss having extra bodies around her, but that'd be a war with her mentally to seek it out or allow others in close enough to sleep with. As if her paranoia would allow such a thing.
"Upwalkers?" She grunts a touch puzzled before remembering that outsiders had strange words for twolegs. "Those strange furless giants are called twolegs among the clan." She informed him though didn't really care if he adjusted his vocabulary or not. "Here I thought you were born a rogue, now you're telling me you were born a kittypet. How dreadful." She growled softly and sounded rather disgusted with revelation. However, she wasn't bothered enough to move her head.
"Well, at least you're not lazy and soft, although sadly it seems that you couldn't escape being obnoxious." She might have had second thought about letting him join if she had known that he had been a kittypet so maybe it had been better to leave that part out.
"I had two littermates, one died not long after my mother had him. She didn't have enough milk to spare or so I'm told so he starved to death. My sister lived, we were close as kits but drifted apart as we grew. Now I will murder her on sight if I ever see the traitor again." She hissed venomously. Dawnstar wouldn't have minded being separated from her littermate as soon as they were weaned, she had caused Dawnstar nothing but heartache.

Dawnstar implored that ThunderClan had found the apprentice before a fox had. It'd be disappointing if the squirrels thought that a fox had got her. "Let's hope that ThunderClan finds the body before a fox, but if it does that's that."Dawnstar accepted. "Don't go wandering around that border on your own from now on, but a job well done regardless. Is that all?" The leader quired dismissively.
