She tilts her head, but does not say anything. She's never been good with people and their habits. So Aydan smiles hesitantly at Simon. "O-oh. Okay." She murmurs, her fingernails digging into her bicep until she bleeds.

Even though he's looking away, Simon knows Aydan is bleeding - he can smell it. He looks her way, glancing from her arm to her eyes. "Uh... you're bleeding."

She jumps, removing her hand. She sees the small crescent-moon-shaped marks left by her nails, and she mutters a soft curse. "t-thanks, i guess...." she murmurs as she starts to brush the blood away and shrugs. It doesn't bother her - it happens. a lot.

Simon took a deep breath, closing his eyes. It had been so long since he'd felt something - the movement of time, empathy, pain, emotion - so long since he'd cared. It was scary... but nice.

And the thing that made him feel, that made him care, that made him happy - and the only thing that made him feel that since he was only a child - would be so easy to lose.

And that thing, Aydan, was broken like him. He could see that she tried to hide it, and he tried too, and the fact that they were so similar also scared him.

Besides music, Aydan was the only thing he cared about.

Aydan, and this moment. This moment in the park, sitting under a tree, listening to the people chatter - chatter about them, the odd pale freaks sitting under the little tree, talking, bleeding, laughing, feeling.

But they weren't freaks, and he hated that these shallow people couldn't see that they were simply...

Broken.

Of course, Simon didn't dare speak these thoughts out loud. At some point in his eternal life - he couldn't pinpoint exactly when - but at some point, somebody he loved had messed him up about telling the truth about how he felt.

Step out of the sunlight, and you won't get burned. Give them no reason to stare - slam on the breaks before you even turn the key.

Her face breaks out with a smile, and she stands, leaning slightly against the tree. She looks up at him, then holds out her hand like a little child. She doesn't know why she wants to so bad, but she aches to hold his hand. She ignores the weird looks she is given. The cloud hides behind a large cloud, and she looks at the fading light.
