Oatpaw, Berrypaw, Mantispaw. She identified the three apprentices under her supervision and waited. And... waited. She began to grow a bit impatient, tail-tip flicking from side to side. She was getting close to just getting up and leaving before Wolfhive decided to take over for the now silent Larkswoop. Oh, well. Hunting, eh? That was something she could get behind. Now, she'd wait for her apprentices to do, well, something.

(lucky me, rolled 16)
Surprisingly, Berrypaw did a good job on stalking, and soon spotted two thrushes on the ground, appearing to be fighting over something. Stupid birds didn't hear a thing! Berrypaw snuck up on them and pounced, catching the quarreling birds by surprise and got them both. She then found a mouse nibbling on a seed a few minutes later, and got that two. That would be her three pieces of prey! She looked at Violetfreckle, wanting to hear from the warrior about how she did.

@vellichor
(Oatpaw rolled a 16!)
Oatpaw locked onto his targeted squirrel leaping on it and snapping its spine skillfully, Oatpaw then gave a small twitch of his whiskers. Climbing down the tree easily, placing down his prey, crouching and then leaping towards a bush, snatching up a plump thrush. Oatpaw padded back to his supervisor and placing his prey in a small hole he prey-made.

Re: Apprentices Race! [ THUNDERCLAN EVENT - OPEN TO APPRENTICES ]
Mallowpaw
68/100
Wolfhive was hosting the event now. Mallowpaw listened as he told them they would be having a hunting competition. Looking around at the other apprentices, she wondered how much hunting training they had. If their muscles were conditioned to the burning sensation she felt in her stomach when she stalked. Probably; she only struggled because her mentors hadn't trained her.
They had until sunhigh. With a quick glance at the sky to see the sun's position, Mallowpaw was off, scenting the air for prey. Soon enough, the smell of mouse wafted towards her. Pinpointing it in a clump of grass, Mallowpaw dropped into a hunter's crouch and started to stalk it. Her stomach muscles burned, but she had to keep going. She wanted to win, to show Wolfhive that she could hunt well. That she wouldn't let her lack of training stop her.
[Mallowpaw rolled a 12]
She was almost in pouncing range when the mouse spotted her. It ran, and she leapt, one claw hooking the mouse's tail. It squeaked loudly as she pinned it down, and she quickly bit the back of its neck.
Burying the mouse, Mallowpaw continued on. The scent of a raven drifted towards her, and she quickly spotted it. Hesitantly, Mallowpaw started to stalk it. She had never hunted a bird before; she just had to hope it was similar enough to other types of prey. With baited breath she came closer, eyes never leaving the bird. She could do this.
[Mallowpaw rolled an 8]
The raven spotted her. Mallowpaw leapt at it, but it just flew away, leaving Mallowpaw staring up at it as she stood where it had been before. Disappointment swirled in her stomach, but she turned away. It's a bird. You've never caught anything like it, you shouldn't be able to catch it. With one last longing glance at the sky, Mallowpaw carried on.
The next thing she scented was a vole. Mallowpaw fell into the hunter's crouch and started to stalk it, determination filling her. This wasn't a bird; she knew how to catch these. She needed to catch it to win.
[Mallowpaw rolled a 6]
Before she was within pouncing range, the vole saw her. It ran, and Mallowpaw chased after it, but it was gone. Frustration surged within her, and tears sprang to the corners of her eyes. How was she supposed to impress Wolfhive when she couldn't even catch a vole? Swallowing, Mallowpaw turned away. She just had to hope she caught something else in the time she had left, because she didn't want to return with only a mouse. Who knew how much prey the other apprentices, many younger than her, had caught?
It was almost sunhigh when she smelt it. A squirrel, nibbling on a large seed. Mallowpaw slid into her hunter's crouch and began to stalk it. She had to catch this; she wouldn't get another change. It wouldn't be an impressive haul, but it was better than just a mouse. Mallowpaw's eyes never left the squirrel, instructions flashing through her mind.
[Mallowpaw rolled an 11]
Somehow, she managed to get in pouncing range without the squirrel seeing her. Mallowpaw leapt, claws hooking into the squirrel, fangs sinking into its neck. It fell limp under her, and Mallowpaw took a couple of moments to rest as the burning sensation in her stomach eased. Her muscles were still weak and untrained, but it was only her second time out hunting. I'm eleven moons, Mallowpaw thought. I should have done this plenty of times by now.
But at least she got the squirrel. Mallowpaw picked it up and went to dig up her mouse before returning to Wolfhive as the sun reached the highest point in the sky.

Mantispaw sniffed for prey, the young apprentice smelling what she thought was a vole. Entering the hunting crouch she attempted to sneak up on it. (Rolled 13) Pouncing once she reached it the almost eight moon old performed the killing bite. She looked at Violetfreckle, wanting to make sure that she did her best. @ vellichor

Porcupinepaw sniffed for prey. Smelling what they thought was a squirrel the young apprentice entered what they thought was the hunting crouch and attempted to sneak up on it. (Rolled 13) Sneaking up on the squirrel they bit it in on the neck, so now it was dead. Bouncing up to Orangeblossom they meowed Hi Orangeblossom! Lookie at what I caught! Did I do good?! Did I?! Did I?! @ Dolomedes

Re: Apprentices Race! [ THUNDERCLAN EVENT - OPEN TO APPRENTICES ]
[ #flocklitterkestrel ]
Of course, Kestrelpaw had gotten distracted with her paws. She listened with one ear to whatever Wolfwhatshisname was saying. (Let's be real, she probably knew Wolfhive's name if she bothered to think about it but just refused to say the entirety in her brain).
'Now, on your mark, get set... HUNT!'
Jolting back to reality at the sound of the emphasized word, the beige apprentice grinned. She was gonna go hunting! Yeah! She was gonna be so awesome and hunt all the... all the things to hunt! But, em. . . there was only one flaw to her plan. Kestrelpaw hadn't exactly learned how to hunt. She'd spent all her time hiding from Sproutfleck to do that.
Trailing after the group, Kestrelpaw decided that if she had to hunt something, she had to go reaaaally reaaally far. Somewhere no one else was and couldn't steal her food-prey! So of course, when she started to lag behind, she just used it as an excuse that she was doing her hunting job. Aaaaand now she was alone, so her next job was to... um, smell stuff.
Smell... ooouh, she knew that smell! Running straight towards the scent with no precautions taken, the little apprentice had scampered right up to the unsuspecting tiny mouse before it caught sight of her and scrambled. But hey! It was not allowed to run away! So obviously, she had to chase after it. That was the only solution, right-- oomph. Ah, she had caught her first piece of prey, but only by tripping over her own paws and smushing the tiny rodent to death in her rough landing.
Wait... there were two rodents squished beneath her. She had caught two pieces of prey!
Her second hunt of the day was after she wasted a good portion of her time sprawled in a patch of moss, rolling around and letting out quiet happy chirps. At least, that was until she spotted a bright red bird. Like, the brightest, red-est bird in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD! AND KESTRELPAW HAD SPOTTED IT!!!!!!!!
Eyes wide, mouth having fallen open, the rumpled apprentice gawked up at the tree branch where it sat. Fortunately, Kestrelpaw herself was hidden below in the foliage, so the bird was quiet unaware of the supposed predator lurking beneath.
Meanwhile, said predator was having a dilemma about the fact that her mouth... her teeth? fangs? were doing something all on their own, like a reflex. Chattering. And she didn't know how to stop it - ah, the red red bird had taken flight- oh, it had landed. On the floor. Close by. And suddenly Kestrelpaw found herself going entirely, deathly still, pupils narrowing to slits.
She wanted it. Wanted to catch it, it was so pretty..! And how proud would Papa be? So, soooo proud! Ha! She could boast about it to her siblings! (The ones that were still around, that was). So on quiet, very very super duper stealthy paws, Kestrelpaw crept over to the clueless red bird pecking away at the ground. Except, now she had a dilemma. How did... how..? What was she meant to do now..?
Well, she knew she had to catch the bird - before it flew off - and kill it, but how? She wasn't in paw's reach of it, she- Oh. Jumping. Ah yes, it was in jumping distance, she could ju-
Oh, her reflexes had kicked in and she'd already leaped, except oh dear another bird had joined the first and- Crash. Good news, she had managed to. . . catch. . . the bird(s). Bad news, Kestrelpaw had grown nervous with the arrival of the second bird and fumbled her landing.
With four pieces of prey under her belt(?) and the sun too low in the sky, Kestrelpaw deposited her prey all together and buried it with a pointy rock on top of it just in case she forgot. Aaaaand then her roleplayer got VERY lazy, so in the end Kestrelpaw was portrayed trudging around the forest, wanting to catch something and also rest her limbs at the same time. Luckily for her, luck was once more on her side (her roleplayer is convinced that she used magic on the three dice to make them perfect rolls), and managed to catch. . .
A shrike (take that, Shrikepaw!) that'd been pecking at a half-alive beetle. So hey! Free food!
When she trudged back to the group, it was with a surprisingly large amount of prey.
