The calico's heart skipped a beat, a momentary fright that she had been found out teasing at the back of her mind. She ignored it. Dismissed it as nothing more than baseless paranoia. It was small talk. Nothing more. After all, what cat would be chipper when tending to half the clan's worth of warriors as patients? Well... her, in all earnest. She'd been worried, considering
somebody hadn't let her go along as the medic for the battle. Seeing so many of the more heavily injured cats return already patched up and most cats alive and relatively well was more than enough to cheer her up after all the fretting she'd done.
She's not implying you weren't always like this or that you're acting out of sorts. Stop overthinking things, or you're really going to stick out like a bloody hanged claw.
Instead of brooding and festering in paranoid thoughts, Lightningstorm opted for a different path. Like focusing on what the warrior said next. Curiosity gleaming in her eyes, she approached as the warrior allowed her to clean her injuries and apply her poultice without fuss. Wrinkling her nose, she debated covering up the feline's muzzle with cobwebs for a moment but quickly discarded the notion. She was fairly certain the tabby would prefer to be able to eat and drink comfortably over having her injury completely wrapped up. Of course... if she started messing with it, she could always offer to tie her paws down with ivy to avoid any shenanigans in the future. Purring in amusement at this thought, she cocked her head to the side, a grin on her face as she finished.
"I'd say. Can't see any half decent warrior thinking a half arsed scratch to the nose is going to be a worthy battle strike. Maybe they just got jealous of that pretty smile you flashed at them before attempting to run them out of camp?" she mewed, a giggle escaping her as she finished.
She didn't quite think most cats would call a snarl a smile, but really, what was a snarl if not a smile for your enemies? Alright... maybe she had been spending too much time by herself down in her den if she was starting to make lame jokes like these to herself and then laughing about them, but it sure beat the alternative of sulking around all day if you asked her. And even if you didn't, she'd sure as hell give her opinion. Memories or not, she knew the kind of cat she was. Ears perking up, Lightingstorm turned lapis hues on her patient once more, her gaze somewhat more somber as she nodded.
"Think it's safe to say you are free to go and get a rest now. Just... don't go scratching that injury and removing that poultice. Otherwise I am wrapping your entire muzzle in cobwebs for the next two days and covering your paws in moss to avoid any scarring happening."
