He saw a large fish at the end of the bay and padded to his, he crouched a bit to the side and let all of his weight fall on his hind pass for a stronger leap. "1........2.....3" He silently mewed as he swiped out a large claw, it hook the fishes gill, taking his chance Summerpaw lashed his tail as he leaned forward, tumbling into the water headfirst, he wouldn't give up this large fish! It was huge! Summerpaw held his breath, trying not to panic as he grabbed the fish in his jaws, he used his claws to grip the gills of the fish.

Breath was running out, 1....2...3...1..2..3.. You'll have the fish soon Summerpaw! You can do it!. Summerpaw could hear his own thoughts as if they were speaking into his ear, he grabbed the fish harder under the water, how long had it been? Was Minnowsplash diving in after him? It'd surely been a bit? Shaking his head gently, Summerpaw moved his bite, which seemed like slow motion under the water, up to the fishes spine. The weight of the fish and his thick, long fur weighed them both down, Summerpaw bit into the fish's spine with all of his strength, eventually, a small spout of blood came from the wound, Summerpaw gnawed it for a moment. Summerpaw could hear the blood rushing in his ears as he started to panic for breath, the young Tom could hold his breath for a remarkable time, but that time wasn't forever.

Summerpaw grabbed the fish, finally feeling a small snap on the spine, he took this opportunity to slam his hind paws against the rock, ignoring the sharp stings from small scrapes, and lanch himself upwards, it worked just a small bit, he adjusted the fish in his jaws for a tight bite and used his forepaw to try and swim upwards. Summerpaw's mind raced, will I ever get out? Will the clan be impressed? Will my siblings even bother to look at it? Will Willowpaw care? Surely she will? Maybe this isn't for nothing? At least some cats getting fed. Summerpaw's heart lurched as he started to see the shape of his mentor from the water, he threw himself up despite the weight of the fish and weight of his dangling fur. FINALLY! Summerpaw's head broke the surface of the water, he couldn't gasp for air as he dragged the fish in his jaws, but he relished the fresh air coming through his nostrals. Summerpaw tossed the large fish, with a large crank of his neck, up to his mentor, panting he looked to his mentor for help getting out.

MINNOWSPLASH - he/they

Minnowsplash watched from the shore as Summerpaw dove after a large fish... and refused to surface. A giant cloud of orange drifted in the water. Stupid oaf. Didn't I warn him not to drown himself? What is he, an orange rock? When Summerpaw stayed underwater, Minnowsplash lept after him, scared that the apprentice was going to die. "Making me do more than I have to..." they muttered. With a big tug, Minnowsplash dragged the younger cat's head above the water. "Grab your fish and let's go, worm-head! That fish ain't worth your life! You're a cat, not a rock, you absolute brain-dead fluff ball." When the two reached the shore, with Minnowsplash yanking Summerpaw the entire way, Minnowsplash glared at their apprentice, but was promptly smacked in the face by the huge fish. They gave a big sigh. "Congrats on not dying, Fishpaw. Don't ever risk your life again like that, you hear me? Next time, I'll let you drown from exhaustion and then we'll see how you like it."

I'm fine" Ge huffed, though he touched his muzzle to his mentors ear in thanks and his eyes shown with gratitude and amusement. "Look at it though! I couldn't give up this huge fish! It'll feed like- all the queens!" He purred, clearly proud of his... unnecessarily large catch.

Minnowsplash gave a sigh of relief. At least the oaf's brain was still functioning. "Yay!" they mewed, voice dripping with sarcasm. "I'm sure they'll enjoy your waterlogged corpse as well." With a deep breath, Minnowsplash shook their pelt out and gave Summerpaw a quick look-over. He looked fine, but was wet and exhausted. "Let's get this fish and fish brain of yours back to camp before you catch a cold," they said.

Summerpaw sniffed his fish once more and opened his jaws, picking it up he hauled it over his paws so he could hold a fin under his chin. Mumbling around his prey he mewed, "Fanks for tafking me oumft toodey" (Thanks for taking me out today)

Summerpaw flicked his tail in a dismissive way after his mentor mewed, "Young kit" Summerpaw was the oldest apprentice! But still.... his mentor was older. He happily padded alongside his mentor, slowly starting to shiver.
