Re: WindClan Leader's Den
QUOTE=Moonraven;1662638]
Twilightstar was confused when Ferretkit and Heathernose arrived at her den instead of Lionscar. However, she got her answer a few seconds later. It seems that Lionscar had gone missing and Heathernose wanted to take his punishment. In all her seasons as WindClan's leader, this was another first for her.
"Ferretkit, you will spend an extra moon in the nursery and miss out on your first gathering. I don't know what compelled you to leave camp after being told not to multiple times, but I'm glad you know what you did was wrong. I do hope you learn from this so we won't have repeated incidents in the future." Twilightstar told him and then looked at Heathernose.
"Though I can appreciate your desire to take responsibility for your mate's actions, at the end of the den he was the one who didn't follow orders, not you, Heathernose. If Lionscar returns he will be the one to own up to his inability to heed direction. You trying to take on his punishment isn't going to teach him anything." It was a sweet gesture sort of, but not how punishments work.
"Unless you have any questions you are dismissed."
Drat, her den was found. The one-eyed leader looked up at the as Coyotekit clambered into her den with a hello and nuzzle. She purred a warm greeting in response and licked her son's ear. Twilightstar had been hoping to keep her den to herself for a bit longer, but it was hard to be upset with her kits especially when they only wanted to be with her.
"Oh, well I'm glad to hear that Leechscar got through to you. Your older brother can be a bit of a grump, but he's a good brother. You should learn well from him if you want to be the best big brother." Twilightstar hummed with a grin on her maw.
Her ears twitched erratically at Dawnstar's name. She lifted a front paw and dropped onto the kit to cease the belly kicking. "Be nice," She huffed, drawing him between her forelegs so she could groom him. "Who's been telling you stories about Dawnstar?" She asked curiously between her licks. Twilightstar didn't mind sharing stories with her kits or informing them about her scars since she thought they'd learn from her tales. However, she normally waited until they were older to bother them with such fearsome tales. Kits imaginations could be quite active and she didn't want her stories giving them nightmares.
"Your mama was born in WindClan. I watched her grow up and even gave her her warrior name. As I've done for many cats within WindClan." Talking about it reminded Twilightstar of her age.
"I've been the leader for a long time, probably too long, this will be my fourth leafbare as WindClan's leader, I believe." Twilightstar wasn't fond of this topic as she felt older and older with each word that left her maw. But WindClan had cats even older than her so perhaps she should not be complaining too much. "If I'm lucky, I'll be around to give you your warrior name too."
As Autumnwhisper enters her den, Twilightstar sits upright and offers it a small nod in greeting. Since it wasn't trying to explain itself, Twilightstar figured it was waiting to hear its punishment. "You ignored two direct orders from me and Crowtooth to remain in camp during an emergency. For that, you'll spend the next moon as Fallpaw with apprentice duties, and confined to camp for the next seven sunrises. Unless you have something to say, we're done here."
[Autumnwhisper will be demoted to Fallpaw until Nov. 14th. It must have at least three posts with 50 words of apprentice duties, cleaning the dens, bringing fresh kill to queens, kits, or elders, taking care of the elders, fixing up dens, etc. Fallpaw is confined to camp until Oct. 24 and can not go outside of the camp without a warrior until their punishment is up on the Nov. 14th. Fallpaw has to respond here with three links to their apprentice duties when their punishment is finished to get their rank and name returned]
Nightfall looked gloomy as he entered her den. She couldn't feel bad for him when he brought this upon himself. "Nightfall, not only did you disobey three direct orders from your leader and deputy, but you failed to heed your medicine cat's call too. The fact that you managed to disobey nearly every high rank in WindClan is more than a bit concerning." She might have exiled him from WindClan entirely if he didn't look so upset.
"You'll spend the next two moons as Nightpaw with apprentice duties. You'll also be confined to camp for the next half moon and you'll be missing out on two gatherings. I pray to StarClan that you learn something from this. In all my moons as WindClan's leader, I never had a cat go out of his way to ignore his leader, deputy, and medicine cat. I won't be tolerating such disobedience again. The next time you decide to go against orders you will be exiled from WindClan." She growled the warning softly. She dismissed the cat with a wave of her tail.
[Nightfall will be demoted to Nightpaw until Dec. 12th. She truly needed to start teasing Crowtooth more about his inability to climb into her den. She's lost count of how many kittens have managed to get into her den by now. The WindClan leader rarely used her den these days aside from taking meetings. She normally rested in the nursery with her litter. It was warmer inside the nursery among the little bodies and put her more at ease. But there were rare times she found herself sleeping in her nest again, alone.
Her kits seemed to be growing day by day and Twilightstar didn't want to get overly attached to them. She was going to have to back to her den as soon as they were fully weaned so she was slowly trying to get back into the rhythm of sleeping alone. However, the nights were getting colder and sleep was harder to come by so she usually just laid down and rested her eyes until eventually her body fell into an uneasy rest.
Tonight, though, it seemed like she was to have company. She could hear tiny claws scrabbling against the bark outside. Aside from opening her eye, she didn't bother getting up. She had just gotten warm enough to stop shivering and didn't feel like getting up if she could avoid it. Eventually, the noises went silent and she found an additional furball in her nest. Twilightstar finally lifted her head and shifted a little to make more room for her newest denmate.
A bit too big to be one of her kits. Twilightstar kittens were larger than average WindClan kittens thanks to Beastspark, but the one curled with her was certainly a few moons larger than them. Her eye adjusted to the darkness and she made out the ginger pelt. Too big to be hers, none of them had ginger pelts anyway, and too small to be Owlpaw.
A quick sniff gave her the answer she was looking for. The kit reeked of fear but underneath that was a unique scent. "Hello, Patchkit." Twilightstar uncurled herself from the ball she was in and leaned in to wrap herself around the shivering kit. "Did you have a nightmare? Or is there something scary outside?" She whispered while coiling her tail around them.
Oh dear, what was it now? She could hear the sadness in the young warrior's voice and naturally, her concern grew. "Come on in Swiftstrike." Twilightstar meowed. The leader's tail tip twitched back and forth in mild agitation once the she-cat entered. "What's wrong?"
Glad that argument was over with. "Good, you will be Fadingpaw until you complete a territory tour and two more apprentice lessons. I will not be assigning you a mentor you must find a warrior to take you for training on your own time. I'll be reassigning your apprentices at the next meeting. However, if the disrespect continues with any cat I will be exiling you from WindClan instead. Unless you have any other questions, you are excused."
[Fadingdawn will remain Fadingpaw until she completes a territory tour and two additional apprentice lessons. She must have at least three posts with 50 words of apprentice training. She is not allowed out of camp without a warrior present. Fadingpaw has to respond here with three links to their apprentice training when their training is finished to get their rank and name returned]
----
What the hell? Twilightstar stared long and hard at Wrenwhisker as if he had completely lost his damn mind. The leader took a deep breath in, shut her eyes, exhaled, and opened her eye. Nope, not dream they were still here.
She was so done with this! "Out, Wrenwhisker, take this stranger with you and get out of my clan you're exiled. I've said repeatedly not to bring outsiders into my camp! Yet you decided to jeopardize your clanmates' safety and bring a random cat into our home without my permission." Twilightstar didn't care if the cat was nice, or young, or whatever. She didn't want them in her camp without her permission.
"Get out, if either of you are seen in my territory again, you will be killed." Twilightstar hissed with a shake of her head.
[/QUOTE]
"Really? That's so cool!" Skykit squealed. "I already know what my warrior name will be. Pumkin- Patchkit calls me Songbird and I want that to be my warrior name. To remind me of all the good times." She really hoped the leader could give her that name. "What if you made me an apprentice early, and I worked hard to be a warrior!" That would be so cool! But, she was only 2 moons. Oh well!

The she looked at her leader in the eyes "CardinalMist has died near the medicine cats den. She told me to tell you that she couldn't stay much longer. I am so sorry, I sat with her until I found you not busy." The she's tail tucked in her between her paws, she had witnessed the elders death and had great sorrow for the elder.
[please don't keep mentioning me or do activity posts in the leader's den. It might take a little time but I will get to replies when I can.] "One of the elders, I'm sorry to hear. But she lived a full life she can be at peace at StarClan." Twilightstar meowed somberly. "She'll need to be taken to the Starry Meadow for a burial and I'll inform the clan of her passing." It was always sad to hear a cat has passed, but when it came to elders, she felt less sorrow at their passing since they often live full lives, they earned their rest in StarClan.
Patchkit flinched as Twilightstar, but that was more than expected, at least logically. The hopeful side of him hoped that no words would pass past the leader's mouth. He was called by name as well... which... also meant he very logically was not mistaken as one of her own kits which was his second fail safe. A bad fail safe but one nonetheless. He blinked his hazy green eyes open, and reached out a front from his tight loaf to pull Twilightstar's tail to hide his face in it if the leader allowed the action before mumbling,
".. 'ightmare... Nurs-y fel' too open." He offered back to the older feline. Did she know that one of the cats that was lost in the battle against Riverclan had happened to be his father, that now the idea that a Riverclan could come during the night and finish him off haunted his dreams and nights. He didn't have the support of having a litter, nor a mom, his mother having passed away from post kit illness similar to Bravebird and her litter, he had heard whispers and then she was gone so he could only assume what happened.
"Your den is safer... your safer." He explained. When you have no one else to turn to, turn to the cat that the entire clan leans on makes sense to a kit as young as him. Though perhaps if he was less panicked about staying in the nursery and thought about things a little bit longer he would have gone to the forever queen, who despite having her own recent leader, was always there and over all was the protector of the nursery. Too late now.
Her eye gazed lazily at the kit as he used her tail as a cover. Her ears dropped lightly at the mention of nightmares and how the nursery felt too open, she found the latter odd considering how many kits there were in the nursery. Yet she supposed when one didn't have kin or parents, no matter how many clanmates one had they were not family. They could only offer you so much protection.
A steady purr softly vibrated through her body. "I'm honored you find such comfort in me." Twilightstar pressed herself closer to the kit taking in what little comfort and heat he brought her. "Nightmares aren't nice, but remember they're just dreams. I won't let anything hurt you." She promised with a gentle lick to the kit's ear. "Do you wanna talk about your nightmare? I don't like talking about my nightmares, but sometimes talking makes me feel better." She prompted the kitten with a yawn.
" Although, if you're tired we can just sleep. Or talk about something until you feel sleepy again." Twilightstar always had the hardest time trying to fall back asleep once she woke up shaken and in despair. Falling back asleep was always a problem, easier to do if she had Leechscar sleeping with her. Whether it was talking about her dream or listening to him chatter about nonsense it kept her calm.

What if Twilightstar thought he was being ungrateful? Was he being ungrateful? What if she exiled him? Did he deserve to be exiled? C'mon, Fleet! You're trying to become a warrior! Fleetpaw physically shook himself as though trying to shake rain from his pelt, losing his balance and slipping for a moment. He caught himself quickly, but sat there with his upper body crouched down. Contemplating if he should just give up. Curl back up in his nest and try again tomorrow or something.
No! He had to do this! He felt guilty, like he was betraying Fadingdawn. He didn't want her to think he was ungrateful... "Remember little.....it's okay to want something." Was that...his mother's voice? It had to be. Somehow, he could instinctively tell it was her. He wished he could remember what she called him...but suddenly he felt like he was surrounded by her sweet scent and warmth. Lifting himself to stand taller, his quivering much reduced, Fleetpaw stepped forward. "Tw-Twilightstar?" He called, lingering at the entrance to wait for her to call him in. His heart pounding in his ears so hard, he was certain she could hear it. But this was something he had to do, he could feel it.
Twilightstar looked over to the opening of her den when she heard her name called. It was rare for any of her cats to stand outside her den, they often entered whenever they felt like it. She walked over to the opening and looked down at Fleetpaw. Tensing her muscles, she leaps out of her den and stands before the paw at the roots of the Galewood. "Fleetpaw," She greeted kindly.
The apprentice reminded her a bit of Featherblossom with his anxiety and lack of self-confidence. She hoped as he became more accustomed to the clan he'd grow more confident. "To what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
The little lilac kit scrambled
up to his mother's den. Orchidkit let out a small sqeak occasionally, but he made it nonetheless! He grinned at the sight of his mother. Oh, well the thing was here. That's okay! He hopped over, choosing to ignore the other cats in his den besides his mother. "Hi Mama!" The kit squeaked cheerfully, eyes bright. He nuzzled close to his mother. The cream and lilac tom was ignoring his brother. He didn't like starting stuff. He only engaged if they were starting problems. Orchidkit went to inspecting all the other cats in the den. There was a surprising amount. His comfortable grin slid off. He wasn't upset, his face just hurt, and he was bored.
Ah! Noooo. Not another one. Twilightstar blinked her single eye as Orchidkit's familiar pelt popped into her den. "Hi, Trouble." She purred loudly and grinned broadly as the kitten nuzzled her. Despite her distress that her kits were now big enough to get into her den, she was always genuinely happy to see them. The leader showered the young one with loving licks. "Have you been being good in the nursery? Are you playing nice with your littermates?" Twilightstar asked, noticing the smile sliding off Orchidkit's face. She poked his cheek with her nose and tilted her head curiously.

“Ferretkit!” Songkit came racing in, rubbing her face on her beloved brother’s in concern and affection. She looked at Twilightstar with wide eyes. “Can I wait with him too? I don’t want Ferretkit to be all alone!” Songkit squeaked.
Heather nose blinked in surprise at her kit, she didn’t even realize that Songkit had followed them. “He won’t be alone dear. And that’s not exactly how it works…” She glanced at Twilightstar, an unspoken apology in her eyes. Kits were more…unpredictable than she expected.
Ferretkit purred as Songkit came rushing into the leader's den, he was about to say something but Heathernose got to it first. "Songkit." he said at his sister. "I'll be okay, remember what I said earlier?" He loved that his sister wanted to stay behind for him, he really wanted that too so he wouldn't be alone. But as the big brother, he had to encourage his sister that with him being left behind he would be okay and he didn't want her to miss out on important things.
Twilightstar was a little surprised at the additional kit that popped into her den, requesting she be allowed to wait with her brother. Normally being held back a moon from your apprentice ceremony was a punishment. She did find it a little odd that Songkit wanted to be held back a moon as well. With how many kits WindClan had it was unlikely Ferretkit would be having his ceremony alone.
"If you want to have your ceremony held back a moon as well, I'm not going to tell you no. However, kits need to start their ceremonies sooner rather than later. WindClan needs future warriors. Holding you back from your apprentice ceremony just because you want to be apprenticed with your brother, though sweet, is not ideal, Songkit." Twilightstar said with a frown.
The leader preferred not to have Songkit wait for an extra moon in the nursery but also wouldn't tell her no. The family could decide with that what they want. She gave a dismissive wave of her tail, allowing the three to leave.
He pondered her answer as Missingbits or rather Twighlightstar began fixing up her new nest and putting it together. Leafbare and leaffall were supposed to be the colder moons, he hadn't experienced them yet but he was quite excited too. His sister name was brought up which Jaggedkit couldn't help but grimace in embarrassment. Ofcourse straws would do something so embarrassing. Some days he didn't understand why his siblings did what they did and why he had to be associated with them. "ok...then that brings me to my next question!" small claws dug in and out of the dens floor as he flexed them repeatedly in an anxious manner. Talking to older cats usually wasn't the easiest for him and he had yet to figure out why. He doubted it would vere change and it was annoying to say the least.
"What exactly is a leader, like the leader rank? I know you lead the clan and stuff but what set leaders apart from regular warriors other than you being the most important in the clan?" now that was a mouthful of words, but a question he had wanted the answer too. If Cards was going to be leader one day, he needed to know what exactly she was aiming to be since she was his sister and all. Incase she needed help or anything along those lines.
The other question, the MAIN question he had come here to ask was starting to eat at him. He had become more comfortable, or as comfortable as he could be at the moment, with looking at Missing- Twighlightstar. The more he looked at her the more he wandered how someone could have bitten her so many times to make that many missing bites. Had something tried to eat her like prey? "and..uh. I hope you don't mind me asking but what exactly.." pausing his sentence he flicked his tail towards her flank and then continued. "happened. How did you get bitten so many times?"
Wow, this kit was hitting her with some hard questions. Once her nest was fixed up as good as it would get Twilightstar took a seat inside it and lowered herself into a crouch. She heard some of her joints pop as she got comfortable.
"Well aside from being in charge and leading, leaders are the ones who make all the tough decisions. Clanmates may speak their mind, but at the end of the day its the leader's job to make the final call. For example, let's say ThunderClan and ShadowClan have stolen chunks of WindClan's territory during a harsh leafbare. WindClan is starving and we need those hunting grounds, do I send out cats to fight ShadowClan and ThunderClan? Should I wait and try and hang on till newleaf, do I send cats to the outskirts? We can fight, and maybe we win, but how many warriors did I lose, how many more are injured, do we have enough herbs to heal the injured, do I have enough uninjured cats to hunt?" Twilightstar yawned while resting her chin on her front paw. She waved her tail lazily, inviting the kit to sit with her.
"Things like that weigh heavily on my mind with every decision I make. Unlike regular warriors, the whole of WindClan follows me and my decisions. It's my job to guide and care for all of you. Do I send my cats to fight or do I suck up my pride, bow my head, and save a few lives? When someone is bad, what should their punishment be, and how long should it be for, or do I exile or execute? Being a leader, you must think beyond what's best for yourself and decide what is best for your clan. It's a lot of responsibility, but can be greatly rewarding as well." Twilightstar loved her clan, but boy was being a leader draining. She didn't even get into the nine lives and the potential to outlive your loved ones and friends.
"My scars are from battles, lot and lots of battles. I've lived through more than most and it's taken a toll on my body. I tend to forget how scary I can look to little ones like you." She trilled gently.

The pitter-patter of little paw steps sounded just before a small, lilac kitten unceremoniously fell into the open which was the den; well, perhaps fell was a strong word when one had to clamber up a small tree to get here, but the premise stood. While her memory wasn't as poor as some might think, the kitten's orientation was far worse than anyone could ever imagine. It was said before, she didn't know up from down and left from right and frankly struggled to tell which direction she was walking in and turning to or even whether she was climbing up a hill or down a hill. Had camp been any less guarded it would have been entirely possible for this one to accidently leave its confinements and get herself lost within the tunnels she may one day learn to navigate; but lucky for her, and her guardians, those who kept watch over camp had so far done a fine job of not letting the eyeless one wander out and away, silently redirecting her with a swish of a tail or hum of a sound.
But that didn't stop her from ending up where she shouldn't be. Today was a prime example of such, ending up inside her mother's den! You see, she had thought this to be the nursery or, at least, any den within its vicinity. She had been out and about aimlessly wandering camp for some time and had found herself getting both tired and chilly, and wanting to return inside the nursery where she hoped to find any one cat she knew that might welcome her. Or no one, either way was fine she supposed.
But once more, this left the wandering kitten with a mouse of her paws. She was now inside this den, large for her small size and yet - as she hit her face against the back of the den, earning a perplexed look - smaller than the nursery. And as her paws padded the ground around her and she began sniffing the air, she noted a distinct lack of nests, wayward mossballs that always had her tripping, and thick scent of milk. This den smelled a lot more fresh in comparison.
Scrunching up her nose, realising she was not where she was supposed to be, Coldkit turned on her paws to leave the den only to nearly slip off when her paw was met with a lack of soil beneath her paws, and no clear way down which she could identify. Coldkit told herself she must have the wrong exit, but even as her tail and paws ran along the den walls she found no other opening and, well, she was lost.
Quite a silly thought, to be lost within a den smaller than the nursery. But with the only opening seemingly leading to a downwards fall Coldkit didn't know where to turn anymore. And besides, she was tired. She had spend her whole day walking already, what was the point of walking further. She knew she was still inside camp, so... Might as well just sit. And wait. Maybe someone would find her and she would tell them that she merely chose this place to rest, but would accept returning to the nursery if they showed her the way or carried her. Or maybe, a proper exit would appear in time. Or perhpas she was simply doomed to spending the rest of her life inside this hole, she supposed it couldn't be too bad. It wasn't too big nor too small, had a nest and appropriate air flow without it getting too cold. Kneading the ground beneath her paws, Coldkit sat in comfortable (and somewhat dejected) silence (the more time passed, the more Coldkit found that she didn't quite like being as lost as she was. But she refused to admit as much, biting her lip and scrunching her face as she looked almost determined to keep sitting there, in place, and not let the fear of spending an lifetime inside of here take over).
It was getting to cold for constant patrols around the territory. The elder leader was shivering when she returned to WindClan's camp. She's lived through multiple leaf-bares and leaf-falls and wore that each one got colder every season. The slender molly's pelt was windblown, sticking up every which way, and she didn't dare try soothing her down now.
Twilightstar quickly trotted over to the Galewood. Her eye lifted towards the branches that shook with the breeze and the leaves changing color and falling. It felt like claws of ice were ripping through her pelt with the next gust and she swiftly leaped up into her den. Upon entering her nose wiggled at the fresh, sweet scent of milk.
It was not uncommon for kits to show up here. It was overly common nowadays she might get more kit visitors than any other clanmate. However, this little one she hadn't expected to make it into this den just yet. "How did you get in here, precious?"Her trill was as warm as a hug as she walked over to nuzzle her daughter and give her a few curious sniffs to see if she had injured herself getting into the den.
Twilightstar found nothing out of place and curled herself around the blind as she rested on her side. "Coldkit, did you get lost?" Even if she did get lost that didn't explain how she managed to get into her den. She couldn't help but worry about the blind kitten at her age. Coldkit still didn't have the greatest grasp on her surroundings. She might have to force a meeting between Coldkit and Dreamlight soon. The quicker Coldkit learned how to navigate her surroundings without eyesight the better. Twilightstar began grooming her daughter out of habit to soothe her nerves.

[No big deal, but please mention me instead of quoting in the leader's den.] "Songbird, that's a pretty name." Twilightstar purred in response. She wondered what made Patchkit call her Songbird. "You seem to have forgotten that I pick out your warrior name." The leader teased, amused with how it seemed set in stone that would be Skykit's name. She was pretty sure Leopardsong named all her kits their names for a reason. Still, it was not likely that Leopardsong would care for her kits' names as long as kits were happy, like any true mother.
"If you're good and behave, I'll think about making you and your siblings apprentices early." As it was, Twilightstar was planning to make her kits apprentices early, she could add Leopardsong's kits if the queen agreed with it.

Patchkit wasn't sure why he was surprised by his leader's kindness, maybe because he isn't used to being around adults that much. Well outside of average conversation and interaction. He isn't taken care of my adults so much. Leopardsong watches over him and makes sure he's okay but it wasn't... or maybe Patchkit didn't allow himself to let it feel personal. Something about it didn't feel like this, being comforted by a scary dream. Because nightmares are just dreams, Twilightstar said so, so it must be true. He allowed the comforting actions and replied with his own shaky little purr.
Talk about it? Well he hadn't heard much about the battle. He had seen the injured warriors and knew of the cats that didn't make it home, more than many did perhaps at that. Maybe knowing what happened would make it feel less scary? So that his brain couldn't make it worse and worse and maybe if he knew what has happened he'll know that Riverclan won't come and hurt him again. Or anything else for that matter. He frowned for a moment and took a moment to think about his words, "The battle. Riverclan... and the others. My papa went and he didn't come home. Riverclan got him." He explained in clipped little phrases.
"I'm scared that... Riverclan will come and hurt us again. Hurt me and my friends." He added on, elaborating on the 'us' in question though it wasn't as selfless of fearing for the good of the clan, it made sense that a kitten is scared for himself and the people he knows. Warriors could take care of themselves, kittens couldn't fight off a Riverclan warrior no matter how much they played pretend. Patchkit stayed quiet as he recalled his play pretend game with Skykit not too long ago. Where she had pretended to be a Riverclan warrior and him, a windclan one... he won. But that was pretend, Patchkit was only good at pretending. He wouldn't be able to save himself or Skykit if it was for real one day. It scared him.

P-Pl-Pleasure?! Fleetpaw blinked in surprise, he didn’t know quite what he expected but it wasn’t that! He had to take a moment to calm down again. He was sure that it was no pleasure for Twilightstar to deal with a blundering apprentice like himself, she was probably just being nice. “Th-Thank you for saying so, ma’am.” He meowed, dipping his head. Whether she was just being nice or not, it did make him feel good that she even said such a thing.
Now on to his reason for seeing her. He shuffled his paws nervously. Would this be disrespectful? “W-Well…during the fire I-I helped with digging the trenches and…” Oh stars. He gulped and took a breath, bringing his gaze up from his paws to meet Twilightstar’s. Hope and purpose shining behind his anxiety. “I-I…I want to be a tunneler!” He blurted, blinking in his surprise at his own voice. Hearing the strength of his conviction out loud was…different. He hadn’t really expressed it out loud to another cat yet, not quite like this. Although he was certain Dustbunny knew about his feelings for tunneling already.
“S-Sorry! I didn’t mean to shout!” He mewed, ducking his head with embarrassment. “I-I know Ms. Dustbunny already has an apprentice, so I know she may not be able to train me too…and I want to seem ungrateful for Fadingda- er Fadingpaw’s training up until now… But I’ve realized that…tunneling just…” His voice trailed off. He was rambling. Worse, he didn’t really know what he was trying to say. He lifted a forepaw and stared at it for a moment, recalling what it felt like to work on the trench with the other cats. “When I was working on the trench…it just…it felt right.” His voice had a calmness to it that was uncommon for him, a certainty. He set his paw down and looked up at Twilightstar, his anxiety returning to him. He didn’t want to create trouble for her or anycat else… Oh he hoped he wasn’t being a problem…

RiverClan? She might have been curious about where a fear like that had stemmed from. However, with everything RiverClan's put them through and Patchkit being orphaned by them. It was a pretty warranted fear even though the kit has never met a RiverClan warrior himself. A kitten's imagination could be a wonderful and terrible thing.
"Our warriors will never let any RiverClan fox-heart lay a whisker let alone a claw on you or any of the other kits." Twilightstar purred fiercely. "WindClan's fought long and hard, sacrificing a lot to teach RiverClan a lesson they won't soon forget. I don't like them nor trust them, but I am praying with RiverClan's newest leader, we won't have to worry about them too much." Her thoughts drifted to Stormstar.
"I've already kicked her butt once and will rip all nine of her lives from her if she dares challenge us again. So you truly have nothing to fear, the warriors and I will keep you and your friends safe. Soon enough you'll be big and strong enough to fight RiverClan yourself and protect everyone you care about with your own paws. These nightmares of yours will be nothing more than bad dreams." Twilightstar reassured Patchkit with a gentle smile.
"But you need a good night's rest to grow. So trade sweet sleep for fears, I'll stay with you tonight and try and chase away your bad dreams." The leader trilled holding the kit close.

It's been so long since Twilightstar's dealt with a cat full of anxiety like Fleetpaw. He reminded her of Lightningpaw a little, although her apprentice's nerves weren't as bad as Fleetpaw's. Still, she found the apprentice adorable. Though she hoped he learned to manage his nerves as he grew. What was deemed cute now could be detrimental in a battle.
Her tail tip twitched a tad after Fleetpaw mustered up the courage to get to the point of his visit. A tunneler, huh? That was not what she was expecting, she had thought he'd want to know what would happen now that Fadingpaw's been demoted. Or something to that extent. So this interest in tunneling was unexpected, but a pleasant surprise nonetheless.
"That's alright," She chuckled kindly at the apology. "While it's true that Dustbunny already has an apprentice, I don't see any reason why she can't train you if tunneling is what you've set your heart on." While Twilightstar normally didn't allow more than two apprentices per warrior unless they've proven they could handle more, Tunnelers were few and so could take on an extra few apprentices especially if they showed interest in tunneling like Fleetpaw.
He'd be Dustbunny's second apprentice so it wasn't like they'd be over the limit yet. Dustbunny had done a great job with Vinepaw's training so she was looking forward to seeing Fleetpaw added to the tunnelers in due time. "I'll announce the reassignment at the next meeting." Twilightstar promised Fleetpaw. She was tempted to tell him he could train with Crowtooth, who didn't have any paws to train, but since he requested Dustbunny she assumed he felt most comfortable training under her. That was a little interesting since Crowtooth was normally the most popular of the two tunnelers.
Fleetpaw's more nervous nature would probably agree better with Dustbunny's quiet and controlled personality over Crowtooth's more loud and chaotic one. "Now that that is settled is there anything else you need?" She asked, willing to dismiss him.

Coyotekit
The Prince Of WindClan
He/Him | WC Kit | Oldest Son of Twilightstar | 1 moon old
He puffed out his little chest. Leechscar was going to teach him how to be a great big brother! He tilted his small kit ears as Mama asked him about how he knew about Dawnstar. "Nobody's been telling me stories! I just overheard some of the warriors talking about how mean she is." he said. Coyotekit snuggled deeper, worming his way to mama's belly for some milk. "Can you tell me how you got your scars? I promise I won't get scared, I'm a big boy!" he purred. He noticed Orchidkit enter the den, shot him a glare, before relaxing against Mama. He was going to be bigger than Orchidkit, he'd show him!
