"Yeah, yeah," Doeflame grumbled. "But let me carry my prey first. That's the limit I can stuff in my jaws. You're right though, by the time we dig up all our prey it will be forever." She grimaced. "Better get started then." With that, Doeflame picked up her mouse and started to retrace her pawsteps. @Lewolfers

Cryingelk followed behind Witheredclaw, letting her take the lead. The tom usually let others lead him, and he'd follow orders of the powerful and respected. He was new, and was in no place to give orders, so it was better to let the warrior do what they needed. Cryingelk fought every instinct to not ask if Witheredclaw needed help, as the warrior would probably snap at him.
Mark the borders...He knew how to do that. His mother and father did it all the time in their territory. Nodding to Witheredclaw, he let his scent drift out, letting other cats know this was their home.

At least this cat was competent. The heavy scent of ShadowClan doused the air along the border, but as Witheredclaw marked the last landmark with her scent, a nasty odor caught her nose. "Fox!" She spat, but she sniffed and tasted the air. Her hackles lowered, and she limped back to Cryingelk, growling, "There's been a fox here. A couple of days old, but fox all the same." She rumbled.
"We'll report it. Come on." She snapped to Cryingelk before leading her pitiful patrol away from the border, and back under the prickly canopy of the trees.
Fox sniffed around the riverclan side of the border, in her search for herbs for cobwebpaw, but being this close to the border made her uneasy... Fox remembered only too clearly the events that had happened moons ago when she'd joined riverclan... how she'd gotten there chased by the animal she'd been named after at birth. she shuddered at the memory...
but on the subject of herbs... Fox wondered if her young friend might know something about these herbs... Cocoonwillow shook her head, this was no time to be remineising past life right now.
sniffing the air one final time she decided to move on away from the border in her search...
