Vinesmoke had finally decided to pop a very important question to the deputy. One that could help improve the camp and the lives of those around him time to finally put his tunneling skills to use he caught sight of the large cat and padded over his blue eyes fixed ahead. Once there he began “Er im..hello crowtooth I was wondering if I could have a word with you”he said while sitting down he was getting the sketch ready “Okay so yknow that tunnel down by the falls the one the monks destroyed..well Ive been thinking and what if we repair or make a new tunnel leading out there ee could possibly set up a second camp”he said finishing with his small doodle.

.... He KNEW he had forgotten something! The mink tunnels! The plan to connect the prospective back up camp to the main camp in case of evacuation! Hell the plan to properly construct the back up camp to begin with had even been lost in first the conflict with the minks and later the war with riverclan.

The plan Crowtooth had gone nuts for he'd just forgotten until Vinesmoke remembered.


The tom groaned at the realization, face pawing before rising and admitting "I'd forgotten all about that in all the chaos o' the last few moons. Its a good idea, I had similar myself an' if yer interested Id be keen ta work on it wit' ya or give ya authority ta handle the project yerself if thats what ya want." Given the fact that he forgot about the idea entirely it was clear Crowtooth could not be the one heading it with his current workload. But giving a helping paw if it was wanted? A different matter.


Vinesmoke would need help breaking through the frozen cold ground to dig anyways.

The lilac gray she-kit basically…rolled from the nursery to the clearing. Mamas clearing. Basically everything was mamas though…it was really cool! Her wide green eyes swept across the clearing as she searched…a stray feather! It was seemingly from a blue jay…pretty! A way to restore her stash and build it up again. 3 pebbles, a new new feather, a dead flower, and a…not new feather. Maybe a cat could help poor little RaccoonKit with her search, yeah?

Vinesmoke nodded at the deputies words “I’ll head it..though I know for a fact I’ll need some help cold ground and all plus your more familiar with the area..”he said as his gears started to turn it would take multiple paws for this project maybe a good teaching opportunity for some of the magnitude of tunnler apprentices “I know Dustbunny may want to help could be a good opportunity for Fleetpaw or littlepaw..or strawberrypaw if you think she would be ready for something like this”he said his tone light but questioning “I know were usually meant to tunnel in pairs but seeing how’s there’s only three fully trained tunnlers may have to start solo”

All the ideas Vinesmoke was spitballing sounded reasonable and Crowtooth let him, nodding along as he worked through his thoughts before adding in some input. It wasnt an order, more of some advise and his view with his years behind them but its not like the deputy would be upset if Vinesmoke took things his own direction.
"I do wish there were more tunnelers ta always do work in pairs, I mean workin' alone's what got my head scarred an' me missin' fer way too long. But ya are right we aint got enough numbers an' Ive faith in the full tunnelers we got ta work solo or ta manage wit' one o' the tunnelin' apprentices.


I'll hop on gettin' Strawberrypaw up ta shape so ya can snag 'er fer work but in the meantime Rabbitpaw is fully trained an' gets antsy so ya might be able ta borrow 'im from Lightningstorm."
Vinesmoke and Rabbitpaw were friends right? Crowtooth was pretty sure but what he was certain of was that Rabbitpaw still loved tunneling even if duty took him on a different path and it'd be nice for the apprentice to get some activity every once in awhile.


In the meantime however Vinesmoke would need to know the area, that much was reasonable so Crowtooth rose, offering "Well Im sure ya know the tunnels around an' under camp but I suppose Im the most familiar wit' the now ruined ones near the falls. I gotta moment right now if ya'd like me ta show ya?"

Stumblekit was splayed out of his back with his fluffy stomach shone to the world, seemingly stuck in a crevice he had tripped into. He squealed in annoyance, little beans stretched out and swatting around as he tried to hoist himself out of the hole. Coordination had never been his strong suite.

Hm.
Dewfawn really hasn't done anything... eventful, so to speak, not in a while.
Life is seeming a bit bland at the moment.

Maybe it'll pick up the pace eventually, not that they care much.
For now they sit near the warriors den, looking around.

Vinesmoke nodded at the older tunnelers words whatever advice he had to offer he was soaking in. So he was good to work alone though he wouldn’t if he could help it at the mention of a tour he quickly got to his paws “That would be great I haven’t had a chance to survey the area..whenever I went out to try and get a better scope I had foundt Owlpaws body..”he said trailing off “Me and Deadmoon buried her but still unpleasant”he said finishing ready to go

Ottercold stared at Seedpaw for a few heartbeats more, not glaring, just analizing. "...You don't actually need anything? You just wanted to say hello?" He is oddly touched by it, for some reason he doesn't completely understand. "Hi, I guess." His tone sounded slightly less abrupt, a bit less judgamental and more polite. He thought for a second, his sharp expression not revealing much.
After a bit more, he spoke again. "...You don't look so rowdy. Why aren't you being disrespectful, like your peers?" That sounded quite rude, and maybe it was, but the warrior was genuinely curious for some reason. No wonder he has nobody he considers a friend, at least not inside the clan, and his interest right now was a bit picked by the apprentice in front of him.

Despite the stare that the warrior gave her, she stared right back. Not in an impolite way, but in a more… Absurdly and perhaps overly friendly kind of way. She nodded in response to his question, offering him a big toothy grin. Once she had finally heard his more polite greeting, she planted her bottom on the ground right beside him.

“My brothers an’ sisters think I’m too soft.” Seedpaw explained, clearly not taking his question as rude at all, simply just a curious question. The small she-cat was definitely a young apprentice–she had been apprenticed early at four moons old, and now she was just barely five moons. Her appearance was still kit-ish, with the fluffy and borderline unruly kitten fur to show for it. “I wanna be like my poppa, cause he’s nice. I like nice. It’s quite splendid! Oh–oh, I’m Seedpaw! My siblings like to call me Seeds–they used to call me Seedling sometimes, I think, but that was when we were kits, so maybe not anymore… Cause I’m an apprentice now, y’know?”

Aha, she learned that word from her grandma–her mentor now, too! She quite liked that word. Splendid.
