He then began to eat the bird.
Ugh, he didn’t like the feathers.
But! He couldn’t go against what he just said!
So, he kept eating.

As Rosekit and spoken, his eyes had remained on the top of Dawnkit’s head. She was looking down. With a small surge of irritation, Rosekit was almost ready to call the tortoiseshell she-Kit out on it and accuse her of not paying attention to what he was telling her, but he was understanding enough to realize that the words he was saying were already bad enough as they were. He didn’t bother to soften up his gaze or words as he told Dawnkit about how he didn’t think they were all that close yet, and he kept the truth as solid as it should be. The russet tabby tom-kit had never seen the purpose and/or worth in sugar-coating things, and things were no different today. But even still, when the words were leaving his mouth, he felt a slight pring of sympathy for her, barely keeping it form showing in his amber gaze. Oh, shut up, self, His thoughts snapped at him. Rosekit’s paws shifted with discomfort. It ain’t my fault she decided to start goin’ off an’ assumin’ things! Ya’ shouldn’t just DECIDE that a friendship exists, Dawnkit… that ain’t how it works! By the time he was finished speaking, Rosekit could feel his thoughts whirling and crashing. It was not his fault if Dawnkit was upset… was it? An’ if it was, well, what the heck was I s’posed to do, lie? He asked himself. This was very, very annoying to the young tom.

When he was done speaking, Rosekit left for his walk. He turned around and began to pad away, trying his hardest to avoid overthinking what all he had just said as he did, but keeping those particular thoughts at bay was complicated. Despite his efforts to start ignoring Dawnkit, he found his gaze secretly wandering over in her direction to see what the she-kit would do and where she would go after he finished saying the things he did to her. I doubt she’ll cry ‘r anythin’, but ya’ never know with kits my age. One look at ‘er, just to assure myself I didn’t go off an’ make ‘er start wailin’ for her mommy’s somethin’… couldn’t hurt! Rosekit watched and walked as the saddened tortoiseshell she-kit made her way towards the nursery entrance. Rosekit prepared to sigh and turn away, but the sight of a familiar bright creature fluttering through the air in Dawnkit’s path drew back his attention. Rosekit slowed down just a little to watch the seen, and when he recognized the orange butterfly that they had seen earlier on, he raised an eyebrow. Well, what a surprise, it came back. Guess that even if the kits don’t like Dawnkit, the bugs do. Funny.

He found himself staring stupidly as Dawnkit bounded towards the butterfly, with her kittenish excitement temporarily revived, once again distracted by the majestic creature in the air above her. As the butterfly glided away and into the sky, abandoning Dawnkit just as Rosekit had done, the russet tabby tom sniffed and started to return to his usual walking pace. “Tch,” He muttered underneath his breath, lower lip curling a little in annoyance with both Dawnkit and himself. Guess she can’t be TOO terribly upset, chasin’ after the butterfly again like an idiot. Whatever… I think too much. ‘Put too much thought into somethin’ as stupid as possibly upsettin’ Dawnkit! What’s waste’a brain space, ain’t it? Whatever, whatever, whatever… movin’ on, I promise… But as much as Rosekit tried to avoid overthinking about… well, overthinking, his efforts weren’t successful. It was because he had left his conversation with Dawnkit… sort of unfinished. He had upset her and left as if nothing had happened, and now it was rubbing his fur the wrong way.

As Rosekit walked, slowly but surely, he began to regret ending his comversation with Dawnkit the way he did. That probably made me look like one heck of a brat, didn’t it? Suddenly, Rosekit felt his paws grow heavy, and the fluffy russet tom-kit felt tired with no obvious cause. He stared at the ground grumpily as he walked through camp, paws dragging through the dirt of the ground. I don’t… care… but I do that’s the problem here. Why do I care? Stars, why do I have to care so much? The thoughts of ‘whatever’ were beginning to fail him, it seemed. So sadly, with his ears flat against his head, Rosekit started to consider giving the conversation a proper ending. She’s just on over there’n the nursery… Y’know, not too far… I’ll go and… not apologies, ‘course, neither of us deserve that crap. No, I’ll just add somethin’ good to what I said. Yes that sounded about right! So with that, Rosekit turned to retrace his steps and break his walk, hurrying back to the nursery.

Eventually, Rosekit reached the nursery entrance and paused in front of it to wait outside. I could tell her somethin’ about how her personality’s bound to get her some friends one day… eventually. But I’ve got to be honest, too. She’s pretty energetic, I think… decently observant, she tries to understand the emotions of cats around ‘er, maybe… sure. I’ll just improvise as I go, that ALWAYS gets me in good places! Rosekit decided to ignore all of the times in his past where his sassy improvising got hm into trouble, and he shrank down into a sit in front of the nursery. Mindlessly shifting his sore jaw nervously, the russet tom-Kit stared into the nursery with bored, impatient eyes, but for once, there was some softness to his expression. I’ll try an’ make this as pleasant as I possibly can this time, ‘Kay, self? As if he was two cats at once, Rosekit gave himself a supportive nod, and preparing, he took a deep breath. Again… not an apology, just an ending! I’ll be fine… anti-humiliation mindset… activated! With that, Rosekit opened his mouth to call out into the nursery. “Yo, Prolly!” For now, he didn’t bother to be soft or quiet with his voice. He just needed her attention. “Butterfly-Extremist, get outta there for a ‘sec! I’m not done, I’ve decided. v’Got a few more things to say!” Then falling quiet, Rosekit closed his mouth and glowing into the depths of the nursery with his resting face. This shouldn’t be too hard- not unless I make it. He added internally.

// I’m guessing that Dawnkit will come out and react, then Rosekit says what he needs to say, Dawnkit reacts again and heads back into the nursery, and it could end with Rosekit either walking away or following her into the nursery for his daily nap or something. Let me know if you’d prefer this roleplay be any longer or shorter than those next few posts would’ve been! \\

What does she mean it wasn’t going to make him a good apprentice?
Food obviously makes you big and strong!
Whatever, sometimes he had to struggle with almost always being right.
He then watched as she left.
Wait, already?
Well, he would just go back too then!
Oleanderkit quickly, and somehow still a bit elegantly, ate as much of the bird as he could, which was definitely not all of it, and confidently trotted his way back over to the nursery.

A bored kit was a bad day for whoever ended up being on the short end of the stick. That is what little Bravekit was today, bored and going crazy with the aspect of doing nothing. No way would she be stuck in a stuffy den with other kits who wanted to share prey or talk their heads off! No, she would be out in camp today if rules weren't stopping her she probably would try to go outside of camp too. They might be confined to camp but they sure weren't confined to a den. Yellow eyes narrowed as she pinpointed out which poor soul would be her victim, who cares if they were bigger than her, everyone was fair game! With a yell they jumped and pinned down the cat's tail and went to bite it without holding back.

Dawnkit/3 moons

After thinking about her previous conversations with Rosekit, she had just settled into a light doze when she heard a familiar voice call out for a certain "Prolly". I gots to talk to him about that name, she thought, slowly rising and streching as Rosekit said he had some more things to say. Her heart sank. What else could he possibly have to talk about? He'd said they weren't friends, that was the end. Havin second thoughts, thornball? Even if it was a bad insult, it did sorta work...

She stopped thinking about it, walking back through the nests around the space. The tom was probably just going to find more things to chew her out for, thinking practically. While Dawnkit still held out hopes for being at least playmates, she figured by now that wouldn't happen.

She reached the entrance where she'd walked in not one hour before, and saw Rosekit sitting slumped, nudging his face with a paw. A question rose in her mind, but... she didn't ask. Not my face ta worries over. She sat down, twitching her tail back and forth nervously, and glanced up at him. Flinching as the sun hit her eyes, Dawnkit asked "Whats did you wanna tell me?" in a serious tone.
