Alright. A name. And she was patting the ground besides her invitingly. Looked like he still had his friendlier demeanor hanging around. Good. He had to keep it that way. His mum liked him best when he was friendly and caring. He couldn't just let a bunch of sour experiences change him, right? If he turned rude and uncaring, he would be just like the ones that had abandoned and betrayed his trust. Or worse. He'd turn into Elmshadow. That thought alone was almost enough to send a shudder down his spine. No. He had to be better than that! He had to be like his mum!
Sitting down where Moorpaw had patted, Mousepaw attempted to gain some idea as to where this apprentice was from. The rain was making scents quite hard to distinguish, however, and he honestly was only familiar with WindClan's scent, having had his mentor conveniently forget to take him out on the most basic of things, like a territory tour. Gratefully he'd had a patrol to teach him some of the terrain on the way to WindClan's border, but even then the place had smelled so foul from the fire he wasn't really certain what the clan smelled like at all. His musings were quickly forgotten at the mention of drama at Gatherings, bringing out a small snort from the gray tom. "I don't think it's possible to have a bunch of cats together without any kind of drama," Mousepaw chortled knowing full well how over the top some ShadowClanners could be.
If the other clans had only a fraction of the dramatics that ShadowClan did, he could imagine the Gatherings being... well... they didn't sound boring at the very least? That was something, right? Then there was the matter of the leaders. Dawnstar sure liked to fight. Some of the enforcers were like that, too! Cougarivy in particular seemed to really enjoy fighting. If Mousepaw were to be honest, he enjoyed a good scrap every now and then too. But never to hurt anyone! Oh no. He just liked play fighting. It was always a fun way to pass the time when stuck inside camp. Or it had been... before his mum had gotten sick.
Before the young apprentice could go too deep down that rabbit hole, Moorpaw's question brought him back to his senses, his rounded ears perking up in an alert fashion as a small eep escaped him. How was... his training going? Well... honestly? Terrible. He'd had to find mentors to teach him, as his former mentor whom he'd looked up to and strived to be like had abandoned him, just like his pop and his brother had. And then his mum had gotten sick, which meant he'd had to take a break from training... not like it mattered. It seemed only Auntie Larky wanted to train him, anyways. And then there was the matter of his new mentor... who reminded Mousepaw of his old mentor whenever he laid eyes on him. He hadn't really talked to the tom yet, and frankly he didn't see why he should. Shadefrost would just disappoint him like everyone else had so far, so why bother?
Amongst his small, mental tirade, one name stood out amongst the rest. Larkfire. She was the best, wasn't she? She'd been so good to him since he was a kit. That's why she was his favorite auntie. And she always took him out training, even though she had her own things to take care of. A small smile peaking from behind his whiskers, Mousepaw turned verdant green eyes on his companion's as he offered a half shrug.
"Nothing special, I guess. Except for my Auntie Larky. She's been great. Took me out for my first hunting trip and everything. I caught a mouse. A mouse for a paw named Mouse, heh heh!" the tom purred, the memory of his first catch lifting his mood as he puffed up his chest proudly. Auntie Larky had been proud of him that day too! Oh, but he was being rude! He hadn't asked anything about Moorpaw's training! He had to fix that. He was a polite ShadowClanner, mmhmm. "How has your training been doing? Caught anything cool? Oh oh, been on any patrols? I like patrols. It's nice to get out of camp for a while."
Moorpaw felt the water grow heavy on her pelt and quickly leaned to begin lapping the worst of the water off her pelt before it could grate in her already rather frayed nerves. She stopped when she felt her anxiety levels teter back into levels safe enough to stop and actually pay attention to the apprentice at her side.
With a shiver, she turned back to Mousepaw.
She smiled at the love he had for his aunt Larky.... not that she knew the full name of the individual. But it was good he had someone looking out for him.
Once he was finished, she thought about her own experiences. "My first catch was also a mouse! I didn't do so well my first hunting, but I've gotten better since."
Her tail flicked a bit of water from itself, opposite of her companion. "Ah, been on a few patrols.... my training has recently gotten weirdly active lately. My first border patrol, the warrior's all disappeared and left me.... and I hadn't even been shown the territory yet! I had to find my way home! And when I did, no one else had reported in!"
She shook her head. She could laugh about it now, but at the time it had been terrifying. "I sincerely hope something similar never happens to you. It was.... Pretty scary, actually."
..... oh geez, and here the chaos started. Moorpaw looked up.
One of their warriors.... Scalescar, brand spanking newly named had appearanty caused a ruckus, as she saw him being escorted from the Gathering.
Oh, and there seemed to be an Outsider that snuck in too.... "Ah, there it is. I thought it had been too quiet."
Nothing seemed to really call for either of their attentions, so when everything quieted, she turned back to Mousepaw. "My new mentor has been amazing. I consider her family, actually.... I couldn't have asked for a better choice.... I'm thinking about asking Twilightstar if I can be named after her."
She paused, tail slowly waving behind her. Now it was her turn to ask something about him. She kind of liked their back and forth. "Have you been given a territory tour? What are some cool landmarks in your Clan?"
At this point, she had a decent idea which Clan he was from. She'd smelled ShadowClan during her tour with Fallownose. She'd been subtly trying to get a grasp on where he was from, the rain making everything smell muted and taking her longer to get a half decent sniff of anything.

Milkpaw was sitting in a dark corner near the foliage that bordered the sandy clearing of the Seastones, waiting patiently for the leaders to start their announcement. This was his first Gathering in many moons, especially after returning back to Windclan after his... emotional escape. He tried to shake Ashclaw's thoughts out of his head and noticed one of their warriors, Scalescar, being escorted out after Fallownose's order. Of course, I had forgotten how much trouble these Gatherings always bring.
He felt self-conscious, and a bit out-of-place if he had to be honest, so he didn't even try to approach his clanmates. Let alone other clan cats. Where is Firepaw?
The presence of his best friend would surely be a good comfort right now, but Milkpaw hadn't seen her on the way to the Seastones. Is she even here?
He craned his neck above the crowd, trying to make out her familiar orange shape.
[Duplicating Moorpaw for fun]
With a violent shake of her pelt, desperately trying to dislodge as much water as possible, a certain individual caught her eye. Milkpaw....
She trotted her way through the crowd to the other apprentice.
She'd been wanting to talk to him since the history lesson.
She needed to just.... talk to anyone else that was also training in the Dark Forest.
The dusky apprentice sat by the cream and white apprentice, a gleam in her eyes. "Don't panic when I ask, but.... you tipped me off when you asked about Blackscar."
She leaned forward and lowered her voice. "Dark Forest, yes?"
She blinked at him, tail wrapping around herself.

“Yeah. I’ll tell them in my dreams.”
Minnowpaw yawned loudly and turned closer to Juniperpaw.
“The leaders won’t mind if I fall asleep for a little bit, right?”

Letting out a snort of amusement, “Haha, no I don’t think they would, go ahead I will wake you when it starts” she can’t stop laughing “Can you imagine the looks on their faces if that happened” standing up she put on a sophisticated look “bad Minnowpaw, back to the nursery where you may nap whenever you like, hmmmph” giggling she fell back onto the ground beside Minnowpaw again.

"Erm.. I'm Batpaw, I come from Shadowclan," the black tom mewed, trying to be polite.

The tabby stiffened, her mouth clicking shut. You could hear her teeth clack together at the swift movement. Oh, her stomach was churning, that made her anxious. A ShadowClanner? Weren't they enemies at the moment? She'd heard what ShadowClan had done in the past from her papa.
"Um. Hi." she offered in return. What could she say? They weren't friends...they couldn't be. At least that's what she was told.

But these fingers and these palms
Full of love despite the scars
They show indisputably I have so much more to grow
Oh, I can change, I can evolve
I can get up when I fall
I'll live contentedly, I don't need a reason why
Standing tall and standing strong
I have found where I belong
In the arms of somebody, there is no more need to cry
Pebblepaw hummed at Wolfpaw's word's, trying to process everything going on around her. Luckily they weren't alone with Shadowclan for long - Windclan and Riverclan weren't far behind. Soon enough the sandy clearing was filled with new smells, new pelts... and new friends! One of whom seemed to just bonk her in the back. What they were talking about she had no idea. "River settlement?" Her head tilted to the side at the strange verbiage. Was there a fifth clan? OOoooh! Perhaps Pebbleclan could become the sixth! She could of course be Pebblestar, and Golden and Wolfie would be her deputies. Foxflurry would be the guardian who kept the evil Flameheart at bay and Sorreldust would stay in the nursery for nightly snuggles. It sounded perfect! She smiled at her new River settlement friend like it knew what she was thinking - like they were in on her silly little plans.
"That's cool! I'm Pebblepaw of Thunderclan. For now, of course, until I found Pebbleclan. These are my brothers Goldenpaw and Wolfie! Do you have any brothers?" A tail reached over to hang over Wolfpaw's shoulders - assuming he allowed it of course.
Minnowpaw burst out laughing.
“You would make an amazing leader.”
Her laughter continued until she couldn’t breath.

Pebbleclan….what the sticks was that? Thunderclan……what….? It took a second before it clicked. “I’m sorry for bumping into you, Pebblepaw. Yeah! The River Settlement…like the cats that swim? You must have meant the Settlement of The Storms And Skies!” The learner then looked towards their group of friends (and sibling). “Hi.” Turning to the fellow calico, their pelt much deeper in colors. “So….uh before anything.. I must ask…. What pronouns do you all use? Like do I use they/them… or something different? I want to be respectful… I also apologize for uh…barging in like this…” gulp. Talk about intimidating. The other calico looked…rude. Scary almost to them, like they would beat up for breathing at them wrong…the other one. White with redish fur? Almost pink to their eyes.
The calico one had to be Goldenpaw, they looked like a Goldenpaw at least…and Wolfie? Outsider? Mumblepaw’s nose wouldn’t lie to them. They all smelled like the Settlement of Storms and Skies, not like outsider or something else.
Batpaw's anxiety made him nauseous.
"Hi," the black tom spoke weakly as he tried to calm himself down. He wasn't sure if his anxiety was showing to the apprentice in front of him. Jeez, all he'd ever be is some Shadowclan monster. He was never a real cat. He was a monster.
