Moorpaw felt absolutely elated as her teeth sank into her attackers leg, her mind no longer on Wolfkit at the moment, she'd hoped he would have left by now. She hoped he wasn't so brave as to try to help her.
But the outsiders words struck her the moment they were uttered and she knew they weren't directed at her. Dread made her release her hold, her eyes darting to look up, and her heart sank when she saw Wolfkit, the stupidly brave little man was still there, refusing to leave her. She wanted to sob in irritation at him.
If he wouldn't run, she would have to keep the brown tabby's attention away from him.
But even as her attention turned back to the cat above her, a snarl gracing her lips as she tried to snap her jaws into him again, a hard smack to the back of her head sent her face smashing to the ground, a searing, shooting pain in her nose as it connected.
She almost didn't notice that her teeth had caught and tore part of her lip from the bash. She blinked away tears, a growl rising him her small chest as blood poured from her nose and her lip, the latter starting to swell on top of it all.
She prepared herself to do..... something, anything, when a blur of grey appeared in her field of vision, and soon the weight above her was gone. Looking up, she blinked at where Bravebird had sent her attacker sprawling.
Within seconds, she was getting up and rushing to Wolfkit, huddling him underneath her (similar to the way a mother bird would hide her young) and her tail coming to wrap around him and hold the smaller cat close.
She wanted to help Bravebird, the warrior shouldn't be facing him alone, but she was almost certain the warrior would rather she keep Wolfkit safe, so she stayed, eyes glued to the fighting, but part of her still prepared to jump in if she thought she needed.
