A Dire Competition

A flash of movement in the water and Snowbeak turned quick as a fish himself - but it appeared that even darting as fast as one did not conceal him from their sight. Before his claw hit the water, the bass swam deeper into the pond and out of his view. A soft sigh left the pale gray tom but he straightened up and slipped into his crouch once more, sniffing along as he stalked.

Good catch... Good catch... thought Nightspark, a bass... wouldn't be his best catch, but was enough for now, he crawled, and crouched again, looking for a prey.

Briarfang smiled triumphantly at his catch before burying it and going to find more prey.

Lionpaw heard a rustle and pounced into the nearby reeds. Out of sheer luck, he managed to catch a shrew- and didn't end up flinging his face into any rocks either! Starclan was on his side today~

But Spring, it seemed, was having a bit of trouble. "You're supposed to catch the prey, not stare at it!" He laughed. She didn't even try to leap at it.

He crouched once more and searched for his next victim prey.

Birdpaw purred with pleasure as she caught a vole with relative ease. Burying it to come back for it later, she set her sights on the next piece of prey.

Briarpaw growled in annoyance before trying again to catch another piece of prey.

Graytail looked happy with her catch and congratulated a few of the others on their catches, and turned back to continue.

Ashpaw puffer her chest out, as if to boast that she caught a nice big ol' carp! She turned back around and bam! More prey! What kind was it? Would she catch it?

Crouched low to the ground, eyes scanning the vast surrounding, Gingerfrost happened to spot movement inside the nearby river. His whiskers twitched and, never leaving his crouch, the tabby tom siiiiiiilently drew nearer. He'd never been this quiet before as he walked, trying his darn best not to scare the fish away and - by some miracle - succeeded. But he held the breath of relief as he made sure his ears' shadow didn't peek over the edge into the water, his paw slowly raising as he eyed the small perch. And then, with one swift movement, he scooped the fish out of the water. The slimy creature went flying to the ground, where he quickly pounced on it and gave it an ending bite. This was a decent start. He picked the fish up and quickly hid it in the ground to fetch go fetch again later, deciding to stay near the water for now and see if he could catch any more fish.

A crow! They were rare and hard to catch, and if Firelight caught one, it’d look so good for her! She crept up to it silently, but got nervous—what if it flew away before she could pounce? This caused her to jump too early, before she could perfect her position, and the crow flew away. Her tail lashed in annoyance with missing such a catch. She went back to searching for prey, hoping she’d catch something this time.

Snowstripe rolls an 11 and a 6. A perch taunts her by the edge of the water, but manages to dart away unscathed and disappears into the depths of the pond!

Nightspark has rolled a 2 and a 10. Although mice are relatively easy to catch, that doesn't mean Nightspark is going to pass up a piece of prey; he catches it easily!

Briarfang has rolled a 5 and a 1. Despite taking down a bird earlier, it seemed Briarfang was no match for the water vole he had found. Call it bad luck, but the poor guy slipped and fell into the pond! How unlucky!

Gingerfrost has rolled a 4 and a 5. Shrews may be smaller but they're still prey, and Gingerfrost doesn't hesitate to go after it. He mayyyy have struggled a bit, but the creature was dead now!
