He wasn't going to have much luck? Why not? Fluffy doesn't understand, but he's determined to prove his friend wrong. Nope, Fluffy was a good hunter, Mumble would see!

Until he realizes Mumble has gone off on his own and he's now alone again. Fluffy blinks back his tears with fear. Mumble wouldn't just abandon him to the predators, would he? And then he would have zero friends, and would die hungry and lonely, eaten by a huge bird twice his size...

Fluffy sniffs the air and starts following after Mumble's scent trail, pride and prey all forgotten.

Mumble turned at the rustling. "Uh... though we were hunting?..." Mumble asked, still crouched and very confused. "Is something wrong? Did something happen?" They questioned, ears shifting back in worry.

"I'm hunting with you," Fluffy declares, "It's not because I'm... scared, or anything..." Fluffy hiccups as he said this, and his voice slightly quivers, but he tries to be as convincing as possible.

"okay, fluffy.." They sighed, smiling with relief. They went back to the crouch, sniffing around the ground for any scents, anything... They were so hungry.... and only just realizing it now.....

Fluffy copies Mumble, trying his best to help. He's not much help, in fact, he's more of a bother with how loud he is while sniffing and walking, but at least he's trying. And not a minute has passed until Fluffy can't find anything, and now he's bored.

"Did you find anything yet?" Fluffy asks eagerly, "Did you, Mumble? I can't find anything!"

Mumble flicked their ear. "would you- Would you please quiet down... The prey can hear you, and they don't like being caught, so they're gonna run..." They explained, attempting not to snap at the kit.

Oh... oops. Fluffy nods, then stands completely still, only his eyes moving to look at Mumble. He didn't want to spoil their chances of catching anything, even though he was really excited.

(rolled a physical d20 and got a 15, idk if I have to but it felt good lol)

Mumble stalked, coming across a bird pecking around on the ground. Perfect... They thought, eyes focused on the prey. After a bit, Mumble pounced! They landed on the bird, sloppily, but it worked. They bit down before trotting back over to Fluffy, head held high in pride of their catch.

"That...was..." Fluffy trails off, "AMAZING!"

He'd tried to catch beetles and butterflies and lizards before, but never birds. Birds flew high and far, and they always seemed to notice before Fluffy got closer. Unlike stupid butterflies. But he thought they were trying to catch food, not birds. And food, according to Fluffy's knowledge, were either pet food and pellets, or fish. Not birds.

"Hm... is this a flying fish?" He asks. It looked like a bird, but maybe it wasn't? "Can we really eat this?"

Mumble seemed a bit taken aback. "N- no?... It's a bird." They said, placing the bird on the ground.
"Of course we can eat it?..." Mumble tilted their head, looking at Fluffy with confusion.
