Why...? WHY HIM?
Seeing that he was banned from the gathering, the agonized apprentice decided to finish the overdue punishment that had been dished out to him. And that was cleaning out the warriors den. Lucky him. IT-It just wasn't fair! Why did he have to clean out filthy bedding? This should've been someone else job! BUT, NO! Stupid Bumble'star wanted to be creative and slap this task onto him! UGH.
Shoving his way into the den, Crackle'paw took in the little hell hole. One thing was for sure... This place was a mess... It stunk to high heaven, the nest were unkempt, and he could pretty much see the fleas bouncing around the entirety of the den.... What a dump...You'd think grown ass adults would have better hygiene, but the evidence proved otherwise. Letting out a groan that soon turned to a growl, the lanky tom felt the dread sink in as the amount of work settled on his shoulders. HE'D BE IN HERE ALL NIGHT! MAYBE EVEN FOREVER! NOOO! Mentality snapping like a twig he exploded into a fit.
Shredding the nearest pile of bedding, he screamed in frustration. Continuing his tantrum, he moved to the next nest, then the next, then the next, and so on and so forth. He didn't stop until more than half of mossy bedding was obliterated into tiny scraps. Anger not yet gone he began to stomp on the bits and pieces. " STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID!! " Shouting in pure rage, he gave one last stomp then fell onto his rump.
Chest wheezing out a couple of pathetic coughs, Crackle'paw surveyed the new destruction before letting out a pathetic whimper. Now look at this place! IT WAS WORSE THAN BEFORE. Good job idiot! The face that had been contorted in anger had now shriveled up into one of defeat. Tears welling up in his eyes, he sniffed miserably... He couldn't do this alone... H-he needed help.... So without thinking he wailed the first name that came to mind. " MAPLE'FAAAAACE!!" he choked back his wavering voice, and continued his desperate plea for assistance. " I NEED YOUR HELP!!!!"

" Death is not mercurial. It's patient... unlike life."
Mapleface had been settled in her nest inside the Nursery, keen jade eyes fixated on the camp exit from where she sat. The last thing she wanted was for her brother to sneak out when he wasn't supposed to. It'd risk both his reputation, his sanity, and a tad more if he were demoted. Above all, a demotion would insult Cracklepaw to no ends, it would bring his morale down, and Mapleface didn't want to see her beloved little brother getting hurt.
She'd kept her brother cooped up in the Nursery when everyone had began leaving, not wanting him to feel left behind since he wasn't able to go. But now that the Camp was mostly desolate, and Cracklepaw had looked utterly disgusted to be spending time with her in the Nursery, she'd let him go with a warning not to leave camp. And so, that was why Mapleface sat in sights of the Camp exit, to make sure her brother wasn't attempting to leave. Every so often, she poked her head out of the Nursery to look around and make sure her little brother hadn't snuck out another way. But that just left her feeling guilty afterward, for not putting faith in him when it turned out he was still in ThunderClan's Clearing.
This was one of the moments Mapleface had returned from one of her quick check-ins. But the second she settled back into her nest, a heart-wrenching yowl uttering her name had her jerking back up with alarm, tufted ears swiveling frantically. Her baby brother! He was hurt! Without wasting another moment of thought, the red queen retracted herself from her kits and lurched out of the nursery, emerald green hues flitting around in search of her muscled brother. Her search was in vain, but Cracklepaw's voice reached her ears once more, resounding from the warriors' den, and Mapleface found herself putting on a burst of speed she'd not knew she'd had, heart hammering painfully in her chest.
[ Powerplay perms given by Leafí ]
"Crackles-!" Mapleface yelled frantically as she stumbled blindly into the den, not waiting for her eyes to adjust to the dark, only to collide headfirst into her little brother. Brother and sister went tumbling in a heap, and thankfully enough, Mapleface landed on top, which allowed her to hop to her paws and lean over Cracklepaw, brows furrowed with concern. "Are you hurt, are you-" Expelling a breath as her eyes adjusted to the dark, Mapleface felt her expression morph into grief, seeing her usually stoic brother in such a state.
"Crackles." She whispered softly, dropping to the ground beside him and attempting to draw him into a hug. "Shh, you're okay. I'm so sorry." In a few moons, her baby brother would probably be bigger than her, and Mapleface didn't know how to keep protecting him -- It was getting too much, caring for her beloved brother and kits now. If only... If only her ex had stuck around longer, had cared about having kits. But Mapleface's trash choice in choosing partners was her fault, not anyone else's. Limbs tightening for a moment around Cracklepaw, Mapleface let him loose, in case he wanted to get up. She was fairly certain the warriors' den was empty, but she didn't want to embarrass him anyway.
"What do you.. need help with?" The tortie-point asked softly, blinking around the den at the state of the nests. Oh, stars, what had he done?
Even before Mudhound had finished their whining, Roseraven was able to grab their paw and quickly squish out the thorn, tossing it back into the thorny barrier where it had originated from. She smiled apologetically at the other warrior.
"Sorry if that hurt, You're all good now! Lick it a few times and keep off of it until the blood clots, but I think you'll be fine otherwise." she explained, stepping back. She vaguely recognized the cat as Mudhounds, a fairly new returned cat who'd gone missing a while ago. Apparently they were a sibling of Bumblestar, though Roseraven did not know if it was by blood or not, not that it mattered. She had a sibling of her own, Asterdance, and a long lost sibling in Sagepaw who was no longer anywhere to be found. Roseraven had never given herself the proper time to grieve them, simply burrowing her mind into her work until she no longer felt any hurt.
The whining and melting into the food with horrible heartbroken dramatics was to continue people! Mudhound would not go into that thorn born good night silently! They would make sure their death was pre mourned! That they would ~express~ themselves before the end! HEAR ME CR- oh the thorn was out.
Actually the tripod didnt seem to notice it being taken out at all. Seriously, they didnt even react until Roseraven brought their attention to the fact that it was gone. Weird pain tolerance on that cat but guess that's needed to be totally ok with loosing a leg. It also meant all those dramatics were totally overblown and didnt even have a reasonable root in hurting them.
But hey the sad noises stopped.
Mudhound blinked shocked several times before shuffling themselves so they could properly sit and look at their paw. They blinked at it a couple times then back at Roseraven, then back at the paw, then back at Roseraven.
Then the noises started again.
"THAAAAAAAAAAANK YOOOOOOOU!!!!" The small ex medicine cat would be squashed in a bone crushing hug if Mudhound was close enough. Luckily they werent and instead a happy head bump was aimed at the she cats as the tripod happily blinked at her with still slightly teary eyes. Mudhound was grinning wide again though so all good.
"You saved me! Youre not mean at all that was nice! I dunno why cats would say that then, guess theyre just wrong! Anyway thanks again, thats some cool special thorn removal knowledge I thought that thing was for sure in there forever!"

Wow, she had never been inside the warriors’ den before. Her eyes were wide as she looked around the entrance of the den, her gaze trailing after every vine that covered the den like a barrier. As she approached, the vines annoyingly hit her in the face when she had poked her head in along its entrance, a quiet growl escaping her throat as she used a paw to move the vines out of the way. She mumbled something about the vines tickling her nose before nudging her way into the den, eyes narrowing to grow accustomed to the dimly lit atmosphere that merely reminded her of the medicine den. That wasn’t what was on her mind, though. The medicine cat apprentice glanced around for a familiar marbled tabby pelt that stood out against the dark atmosphere, oceanic hues dancing around from cat to cat to look for such a distinctive pelt of the former medicine cat.
“Roseraven?” She called, wincing slightly as her voice echoed throughout the den’s walls. She hoped it didn’t disturb any of the cats that slept in here at will, as she was only looking for the molly at heart. In all honesty, Springpaw didn’t see Roseraven as a bad cats as most of her clan-mates did. Yes, there was the bloodied birthing incident, but Springpaw thought it was just an accidental death. Of course, this might be the wrong thing for the molly to think about as she had only been a mere kit at the time it happened, but she didn’t pay much attention towards it. Her mind focused at the task at hand to find Roseraven so she could help her and Drizzlecloud grow accustomed to their roles and how the herbs worked… if she wouldn’t mind doing that, in any ways.
Roseraven was just returning her best to the warrior's den. It gad to end eventually. She was partially glad, of course. Healing was a bit upsetting after the whole ordeal. Too many chances for mistakes. But she also missed her job.
Perhaps she wasn't done, however, as Springpaw, the new medicine cat apprentice, approached her. "Hello, Springpaw." she greeted calmly.

Springpaw let out a silent sigh of relief as the marbled tabby came into the pastel calico’s view, a short smile growing upon the young apprentice’s maw. ”Hey, Roseraven.” she responded back to the older molly, approaching her close enough so that she could sit down in front of the marbled tabby, her tail wrapping daintily around herself and laying atop of her white-furred paws. “I hope that you don’t mind me intruding in here. Bumblestar just got done speaking with both Drizzlecloud and I about what she expects of us as the new medicine cats and well… if you don’t mind it, we could use your help with learning how to heal the sick and weak. I know about the whole incident that happened moons ago back at the old camp, but I don’t see you as a bad cat for it. We all make mistakes, it’s not like we are all perfect in our own ways.”
She flashed the older molly a short smile after she finished speaking, tilting her head slightly to the side to show that she truly meant her words. All because Roseraven caused a mistake didn’t mean that she was automatically a bad cat. Springpaw saw it that way with every cat—except her birth giver—as not every being could be automatically considered someone to avoid like the plague all because of a simple mistake they’ve caused. Roseraven was one of those cats that Springpaw thought didn’t deserve to be avoided like that. “So, if you are okay with it, may you help both Drizzlecloud and I learn the ways of a medicine cat and to learn how to heal the sick and weak? Even if it’s only a little bit of information, it’ll help us a lot with the learning process of becoming a good medicine cat and serve ThunderClan.”
A frantic voice busted him from any thoughts that he was currently wallowing in.
Feeling an unexpected impact, Crackle'paw fell face first into the dust. Groaning in pain, he just barley caught his sisters words. Was he okay? NO, OF COURSE NOT! He just got thrown to the dust! He would've gotten more frustrated at the situation if he weren't so down right miserable. So instead, he sat up and pressed his angular head into his sisters soft shoulder fur. Resisting the urge to whine right there and then, he lifted his attention and attempted to answer, "I-I'm... " he sniffed, but then shook his head in determination. No, he wouldn't cry! He was big and tough! Crying was for pathetic and weak babies... And last time he checked, he was neither of those things. Growling softly he sat up and scowled at the mess. " I got in trouble with stupid Bumble'star and the scum-bag made me clean the warriors den!" Crackle'paw spat the words as he cast a side way glance at Maple'face.
The large ears drooped low as her other question reached his senses. What happened? Well he'd tell her what happened alright! Gritting his bared teeth, the apprentice felt himself begin to shake with rage once more. " And I WAS going to clean the den, but then.... I saw how much work it was going to be! All these scuzzy nest... And, and, AND IT JUST WASN'T FAIR! Y'KNOW?" he pouted, as a few more tears pricked at the corners of his golden eyes. " Why do I have to do this?! I barely did anything wrong! I HATE THIS! I HATE BUMBLE'STAR! I HATE EVERYONE WHO SLEEPS IN THIS DEN!" voice rising to another roar, his boiling temper heightened again. Lifting a hefty paw, he swatted a pile of shredded moss; the pieces littering the already messy den. He couldn't take this for much longer, just thinking about everything that happened made him want to explode. Crackles understood that he was overreacting, but he couldn't help it! It just happened! All this mistreatment towards him was just fueling the flames! If they didn't want him to have a tantrum, then everyone shouldn't act like total idiots! It was as simple as that!
WHY COULDN'T ANYONE UNDERSTAND!?

Roseraven repressed a small snort of amusement as the other warrior hadn't even realised the thorn was out at first. The small tabby was surprised by the head bump but didn't back up or anything. She hadn't felt someone's physical affection in a bit. Asterdance was always busy, and so was she. It would be nice, having more people who didn't run from her like greencough.
"It's no problem. It...really wasn't that deep, you could have probably pulled it out by yourself. Although I'd suggest keeping away from the camp barriers. I've fallen in them and gotten riddled with thorns more times than I can remember." she said with an embarrassed chuckle.

Roseraven had expected one of the two to request her knowledge eventually, and she had no trouble giving it away. The young warrior had also expected mistrust or simple acceptance but not....pity. This felt like pity. And it made her angry. It wasn't just a mistake. There was no way of her doing any better, she had no knowledge of how. She had done her best. She knew, for once, that she'd done nothing wrong. She didn't need cats telling her how we all male mistakes and treating her like a charity case, like the fact that they didn't throw false accusations at her was some sort of grand accomplishment and not common sense.
But Roseraven knew that, fundamentally, it was her fault. For making the situation sound worse than it was, for blaming herself and not standing her ground. She wasn't about to get mad at an apprentice for what they considered to be niceness. Her face was stiff but not malicious or angry, just funny neutral and professional.
"Of course, I can share all of my knowledge with you and your mentor to prepare you for your new duties." she replied calmly.

Springpaw’s eyes lit up from Roseraven agreeing with helping her and Drizzlecloud learn some herbal remedies, the medicine cat apprentice almost quickly popping up onto her paws, a light smile smeared on her maw. “Thank you, Roseraven. I’ll be excited to see what you’ll be teaching us.” She mewed, excitement jittering in her system. She couldn’t help herself but notice the rather neutral expression that the marbled tabby carried, almost causing a rather strange sensation to rub off of the young calico the wrong way. Had she upset the older molly from her statement? She surely hoped she didn’t.
With a quick shake of her head, Springpaw tossed the suppressing thought away. “I’ll meet you in the medicine den, Roseraven. I’ll see you there. I can’t wait to see what you’ll teach me.” she smiled, turning tail and exiting the den to b-line her way to the medicine cat den, in hopes that Roseraven wasn’t too upset from what Springpaw had said.
